  • Singapore, Sentosa Island - I didn't think that Singapore also has a beach like this!
    My Singapore Street Food tour➡️ • 1st Time Trying Singap...
    There is an island right in front of Singapore called Sentosa Island. It's actually not far away from the Singapore city center and I heard it's a popular spot for locals to hang out. I was curious so I decided to go! Join me an a day out here on Sentosa Island, a place that offers lots of things to do in Singapore. Some of the things were quite a big surprise including the amazing beach I ended up finding!

    20:15 That's actually just a demarcation for a zone where vessels may not enter. It's also to let swimmers know not to cross that boundary because right after the boundary is a channel that small vessels may travel up to 16 knots.
    The nearest international waters boundary are around 4 nautical miles directly south of the beach you were at, which is way beyond all the large vessels.

  • @romgozaimas
    @romgozaimas 11 месяцев назад +25

    The waters surrounding the whole of tiny Singapore Island is the Singapore Port Limits. The southern most point of the limit is as far as Raffles Lighthouse which is about 14 kilometers from mainland Singapore. Beyond that is International waters. Singapore is the 2nd busiest port in the world. As such, we will see many ships harbouring along the coast, even at the beaches at East Coast Park.

    The blue floating barrels are just markers beyond which swimmers should not venture. The waters beyond are still Singapore waters until Raffles Lighthouse farther South. St John's, Lazarus, Kusu etc are south of that blue line. The ships anchored are waiting for their turn to offload or pick up cargo from the terminals.

    Been to Singapore about 6 times and loved each time. It IS very expensive, almost the most expensive city in the worl. But it is also beautiful and very ordered! Have been to Sentosa, the parks, etc. I would encourage to ride the Ferris wheel if you have not already done so. It is amazing and considerably higher than the 'ride' you were on in this vid. I did not find it frightening because of the size of the coaches. And the photo ops are wonderful.
    Glad you are enjoying your stay there, as I have. Enjoyable vid.

What you just had, howevever , looks very well made, like in a good fish and chip shop here. The chips (deep fried potatoes) in the UK should be a bit crispy on the outside but quite soft in the middle. That is how we like them. In fact it is not easy to do, and some fish and chip shops do not do it very well, even here! Good luck to you Ken!

    Yes, they use batter (flour and water, sometimes beer)rather than breadcrumbs, but the worst places put it on much too thick, and it is heavy and sticky. The best ones put it on thinly and it is a bit crisp. I like the look of what you had actually, fish not overcooked. I had fish overcooked recently....hard batter on the outside, the fish was dry on the inside, not like yours!

So if you’re looking to go to sentosa island however you’d not like to pay a cost for transport to go sentosa, use the boardwoalk to the first station and then you can ride a monorail with no charges. The container vessels are in the anchorage area. They are there for various reasons - refuelling, transit, transferring containers, etc. Transferring of containers will be at PSA wharf, and they have to wait for their turn to dock at PSA (Port of Singapore Authority) wharf. The MPA (Maritime Port Authority) will run the maritime related matters with them while they wait in this anchorage area.

    Swimming with ships around you and airplanes passing every minute over your head is a unique and rare thing to do in Singapore changi village beach. There are also many visitors here.
    Also, you don't need to take the tourist bus while in Spore. Just take the local Sgbus and get an upper front seat and enjoy the view of the city. Have an unlimited pass n go anywhere in the island with all public transport except sentosa.
    When you finish Spore, Batam, Indonesia is only 1 hour away by ferry. Crossing the world's busiest shipping lane the Singapore strait is a must and an epic experience too. Best is to depart from JB terminal as you will cruising thru the Johore strait where Malaysia on ur leftside and Singapore on ur rightside. And the fare is reasonably cheap.

    Try to imagine a "$" sign on every ship in the Singapore harbor. They spend standing charges, docking charges, business charges, maintenance, cleaning & resupply charges, plus their sailors probably have their R&R and lose money at the Casinos. There are, on average, 600+ ships in Singapore's waters every day. Multiply this by the tens of thousands of "$" that each ship generates for the Singapore economy, including indirect expenses such as banking, insurance, warehousing, etc. and you begin to realize that it is the most important lifeline of Singapore. All in, the presence of many ships in the waters are, for Singapore, a lovelier sight than the empty open waters of Phuket, Seychelles, Maldives, etc.

There was hardly anything there - just a restaurant which was fabulous and the beaches. I don't think there was the bridge either - we had to get the train across. The fish and chips you had looked amazing! That coating on the fish looked awesome. Not like most places here in Australia where they put batter on the fish for fish and chips. Back then SG "bought" what ever sand & rocks Malaysia & Indonesia willing to sell (legal or i**egally) to reclaim their land to what it is now (Not only in Sentosa but along the coastal & south to a "bigger" country. Sentosa back in 80s is unlike now without the white sand & hard labours support from its neighbouring countries. Have a nice time & enjoy your SG trip!

    As someone from the uk, it's not a bad attempt at fish and chips. We wouldn't use breadcrumbs though, rather a thick batter. The chips look great. And the sauce looks like tartar sauce.

    3 nautical miles and 12 nm for territorial sea boundaries (UNCLOS) that looks like a net border maybe for sharks? The ships are just at anchorage awaiting their slot at the port for loading and /or unloading

    Palawan (pahlawan) means Warrior in Malay. The so-called border is to prevent vessels or bigger/dangerous fishes to enter the water near the beach. Thanks to the geographical location, Sentosa & Singapore is surrounded by very deep open sea. Hence, ideal for vessels to sail & anchor.

    • @user-um8wi5ym4y
      @user-um8wi5ym4y 11 месяцев назад +1

      Anything beyond that border is not safe for swimming as the seabed is very deep and plunges deep down like an undersea cliff. Which explains why those big ships are able to dock there.

    Sentosa was inhabited by sea pirates until they were stopped by the British using steamships. The British turned the island into a fort. During world war 2, many civilians were shot and pushed into the sea off the island by the Japanese army. Their remains were washed ashore and discovered over the years. Human trafficking victims were also disposed off there. The island was originally called Pulau Blakang Mati (Back Death Island in the Malay language).

    hello, you are lucky to go to Singapore. However, I am British and when I was young I had some friends who all came to the U.K. from Singapore. I am not sure what year, but probably in 1960.'s but I am not sure what year.... Anyway, I met my ex-wife when I had taken a holiday in 1984 in Seychelles and she came to the UK and we got married and had a son age 37. So this year I decided to take a holiday in Seychelles before I got more ill health; so I booked a holiday via LHR on an Airbus A380 to DBX and then on a much poorer quality plane (Boeing 777 plane ) In bad turbulence the &&& was not as good as A380 in comfort
    I do not not know why so many people think the Boeing planes are better than Airbus.
    Well, that is most of my comments for now, cheers.

    1. Singapore has one of the busiest port in the world as it is along a shipping trade route.
    2. Ships there are in Anchorage, in singapore waters, waiting to enter the ports or to refuel / resupply.
    3. Singapore is an island, so you can find beaches all along the perimeter of the island. The longest is the east coast park beaches.
    4. You can literally walk/cycle to the airport just by following the park connectors along the beach coast line.

    Well… maybe as a tourist you will think of comparing costs to the whole region, comparing it to Philippines, Malaysia, nearby countries… but it’s not a fair comparison.
    Income and quality of living in Singapore is 3-5x higher here, so salaries, properties, everything cost more obviously. You get a higher quality in standards and security too. It’s a different world… sometimes it’s almost rude to compare Singapore to developing countries.
