I'm sure there are some lazy individuals who wouldn't make it. (It's the same everywhere.) But it is also because most of them do not have to worry about food / shelters, and thus they can focus on doing what they love. That's why it's important for a country to help all their citizens get sufficient education and minimize the amount of poorer households so that everyone can focus on other things.

Also to note: Elon Musk tried to make a TESLA partnership with Singapore. However Singapore declined that partnership. Elon assumed that Singapore was "opposing alternative vehicles" as our income would rely on fossil fuels. However, we hit back hard with the data that individual electric vehicles is less of a movement to protect the environment and instead a way to capitalise on the fact that it is a "Lifestyle" and that it would be more effective to have a Mass-Public Transport system that could reduce the number of vehicles, and there could also eventually be alternatively powered public transport as well.
Electric cars make more sense in countries like America with very little public transportation. Public transport > electric cars > petrol or diesel cars
@@ritwikreddy5670 Yes, in general this is true. It is also important to note that creating electric cars is incredibly energy intensive, and if a family is buying an electric car to replace a petrol car that they already own, this is not really accomplishing much. Thanks NatGeo for a brilliant documentary affording Singapore the well-deserved recognition and achievements that many in the world aren't aware. The details found in this documentary is highly educational and informational which perhaps many wouldn't have known even if they live in Singapore. Kudos and heartfelt appreciation to the SG government, all Singaporeans as well as all the talented and hardworking foreigners living and working in Singapore, who have contributed extensively to this amazing city. Most of what Singapore does as a society/government is not innovated in Singapore, but LEARNT from other nations. They then bring it back to the country, debate on how best to use this in a way that works best in our society, and implement it. This is something that Singapore's leaders have said time and again. IMO the most important thing is not innovation, but implementation. Hope you get a chance to visit Singapore someday!
@Dude Trust Me I think we shouldn’t confuse innovation with invention. Most new technologies today were a result of innovation from past inventions. So I do think Singapore is constantly looking for ways to innovate. Let’s continue to learn from each other, innovate and progress. 💪🏻💪🏻
We don't really have a solution to everything. But we are learning, growing and constantly thinking about ways to keep up with the times and stay relevant. High land costs and troublesome laws. This is an excerpt from the constitution “parliament may restrict the right to freedom of speech, assembly or association if it’s necessary or expedient in the interest of the security of Singapore”. They’ve given so much power to the Prime minister so all these are very accessible to him even though it says parliament decides.
But for first-time automobile buyers who do not have the option of public transportation, then purchasing an electric car is definitely better than a petrol one.

This is why we treasure our relations with countries all over the world. Without their help and faith in us, we will not have the capability to go this far.

It's important to take notice that what underlies and supplies the funding for all this public and private research is capitalism. The government does a superb job in protecting property rights, facilitating free trade, and keeping the overall regulatory burden low while still enforcing pollution control guidelines. it’s also usually illegal to protest without government consent. Many of the laws from back then are still in place. I should have said it’s still focused on economic growth but have given a little more voice to the citizens. It’s a great place to visit, but to live is a different story. I couldn’t care about lgbt but things like these are still illegal in Singapore, and companies who support these have been suppressed from holding events.
@@spigbungus I suppose, but Singapore is definitely an outlier from countries with those similar policies. It is doing well, just because a person is given power does not mean they will exploit it for wrongdoings. Also, it's still definitely a democracy, leaders are under pressure by the people's opinions.
Marcus Len I wouldn’t say that it’s that different. If you noticed among the asian tigers all countries went through a similar phase. Korea with park Chung hee, Japan after world war 2, and China with deng xiao ping. I admire Singapore strength to follow this trend but people don’t realize what they had to sacrifice.

Australia is my favourite holiday destination.
Hello from Singapore
what one can do as for holidays in Singapore
@@AbdulWahab-fr7kq
It's a genuinely different place. It's the most futuristic (and probably cleanest) city you'll ever visit.
Singapore is the most underrated tech savvy and wealthy city on earth, it’s becoming bigger and better than Dubai, and most people don’t even talk about it or see it as a poor region
Only the ignorant do... Singapore has been wealthy for many decades now. A lot of Asian countries have developed so much but a lot of ignorant westerners don't know. Some don't even know Japan is advanced...
If you are familiar with Dubai's wealth and economy you should be with Singapore. However being an expat in Dubai seems more likely than Singapore, correct me if I'm wrong
Irene A your right, I also lived in Dubai for about a year, that is when I first heard of Singapore bc of it being similar to Dubai, being an American I can say in a few years one or both will be better than the states if they aren’t already, here in the states we act like we’re the only great country and try to hide that others are passing us up
ImYes I lived in Dubai for about a year and I imagine it to be very similar maybe better
@yes I do
I was in Singapore for 5 years ....
A dream country , well managed & nicest people in planet.
Nigerian Government come and see. This is a country that works period. The citizens are so lucky to be born in such a country. 🇸🇬👍
But it is a very small country
@@0408tk so what you haters
Haha 👩🏻💼Singaporean Chinese girl love Nigerian __
Nigerian government know all this they simply don't care.
@@professorxavier8021 so African, go on, keep at it
I’m a great admirer of Mr. Lee Kuan Yew and the people and the nation of Singapore from Hong Kong. I’ve been visiting your great city state regularly since i was 3, truly remarkable, our mess of a city have too much to learn from you guys.

So where are you located at the moment?

We here in the USA live in the Stone Age while Singapore lives in age of the Jetsons. I am impressed.
Really? OMG..
Angela Wall its a lot easier to develop one city than an actual country. Same thing with the UAE, Qatar, kuwait etc. Their small, uniform countries so its really easy govern and develop.
We still cant get over a 400+ year problem RACISM how can we move forward if we keep looking back
Piatequila ik the us system is flawed, but forcing people into prison camps is arguably worse than giving people handouts. Also uae, qatar, and kuwait are tiny, authoritarian countries, so yes, crime has to be lower.
@@tyronen3779 give independence to each city then
Singapore kind of development happens across globe when you don't show racism and discriminate people based on religion, caste, race and region , Singapore has Hindu Tamils, Muslims , Buddhists, Christians and ethnic Chinese 👍👍
Singapore is just amazing
They also have fast internet
I wish America could be this smart, we can't even get affordable health care.
Health care in singapore is expensive
Hello how are you doing today and how is the weather condition over there..??
@@sweetbrown3476 weather does not really change here so its usually between 26-32 degrees, and a high humidity with constant rain
Is it true?...
@@rohansuneja7434 dude you pay to ride an ambulance in america what do you think
This looks like manmade paradise. The best place to live. Awsome. As a europian I can just hope to visit it someday.
Ive been to Singapore multiple times with my family- probably the most amazing place we've been. And we'll definitely keep coming back.
Why not making an episode about the Singapore citizens.. Interview the middle class and the lower class people.. See what they'll answer..
Agreed, the income gap are growing bigger. The money driven Ad always out there to smoke....haha. Our Old Poor civil servants are indeed very capable, whereas the new gen are loaded with budget.
No freedom of speech or press there so you only get a propaganda piece like this. Still, awesome place, would love to visit.
That would be a different program for a different purpose.
Revolution Recording Studios Company meh
Yeah lots of them migrate to US and UK cuz they hate Singapore....must be a nice city for a few rich or lucky!!
I'm not a singaporean. But when the first time my wife and I visited this amazing and beautiful Merlion City and its country last September for our wedding anniversary, we fell in love with it and we said to ourselves, We will come back to visit this country again and again like forever!! WE LOVE SINGAPORE SO MUCH! ❤❤❤
welcome~
Thanks for all the love. Can’t wait for this COVID nightmare to be over and we can receive visitors again! Not to mention also travelling overseas to visit other great places!
