Craig I love how honest you are about your wins and fails sometimes your the hammer sometimes your the nail. The fact you don’t hide it is very refreshing. Great video keep it up !!!!!
Beat me to it with this comment!
Craig I've been in the painting game for a while now and just to let you know for next time you are gonna have to take that hood down to bare metal for it to not keep reacting when you got to repaint it. Tbh I would just wrap it with a gloss black wrap and call it a day.
Yeah Wrapping it, good idea. But probably more expensive than painting isnt it?
@@robsdeviceunknowndepends how often you want to have to paint it, good bit of wrap done by yourself will only cost $200 at max
Sure, but if the paint is peeling you would still see the edges of the peeling paint in the wrap. Also the wrap is temporary and the paint is not, or at least it shouldn't be. For my personal car I wouldn't mind going that route, but for a car that you're trying to sell to someone putting a wrap on it isn't really a solution.
That Audi V8 4.2L engine is a ticking bomb.
Some dope with access to high interest financing will buy it and enjoy it for a few weeks.
Craig, two points... 1.) there is no way the S6 is 3200 lbs unless you found a way to do 1300 lbs of weight reduction - and judging from what looks to be a complete interior, I would say no. 2.) the scratches on the 06 S4's hood are the least of your worries. The reason you got that car for what you did is that it will need its timing chains and tensioners serviced and that is an engine out job. If you hear a metallic rattle at start up, then that is the engine telling you its time to address the chains and tensioners. In all reality, you would've lost less money if you set $2500 on fire at the beginning of the auction.
I doubt the fools who are gonna buy this thing from Craig are gonna know that this shiny thing is a money pit after 100k miles. They’re gonna throw their “tax refund” down.
Startup rattle is a separate problem. That can go on forever with minimal consequence. The guide on the bank 1 head is the real problem. No warning and it just jumps.
You have the 2 mini pads mixed, the mini wool pads are for the compound, the foam pads are for polish!
I can't imagine working for this guy.His intentions are humbled but backwards. There is no way the detailer screwed up the hood with sandpaper, secondly why would paint the car after the detail smh
This could've been a ten minute video.
This dude babbles too much, annoying as hell.
That’s the unofficial RUclips slogan 😂
@@maples328 you ain’t kidding🥱
Seafoam doesn’t actually clean the carbon deposit, a different brand or walnut blasting will definitely do the job & sanding down your headlights will just be a temporary fix either you reclear them or buy new lenses
Those 4.2 engines have timing chain tensioner failures quite frequently. That will definitely cause a misfire. The chain is on the back side of the engine so it requires it to be removed from the car for replacement.
There are lots of things that fail frequently.
German engineering. Engine removal for maintenance.
Good old Audi and timing chain issues.
@@CoreMaster111 I'm surprised it has a chain and not a belt.
@@warrenlewis3977 Wait til you find out about other Audi timing chain driven engines where timing components fail regularly and need to be replaced for a fortune.
My personal favorite are some of the 1.2L TSI engines that need to have timing chain and other timing components replaced every 60k miles and it costs 2-3x the amount of timing belt change on similar engines.
Love the videos!! Big fan out of Texas. I’ll be in Raymond, NH tonight. Wish I had the time to stop by your dealership. Keep up the great work!!
That paint you made deff no way will match that stock color. Especially once it's outside in the light.
Love the channel. Love Craig. Hate how this flipping series has lost its way and keeps dragging on.
How did you want it to end up ?
@@docock1149 The goal was to buy and flip until he earned the cash to buy a Ferrari in 1 year. Hasn't happened.
it really never was a series. It was a long game of youtube videos. It was half a$$ed at the start
I love it because more videos and content to watch
I am a small dealer, much smaller than you Craig so maybe Im not the one who should be giving advice. But personally, I dont understand why you invest all this time into cosmetic improvements before a cars major issues are solved. If a car is misfiring, that should be the priority to fix. If its not cost effective to fix that, then it makes no sense to put several days of labour into exterior. If the car is pretty much mechanically totalled and is being sent to auction, having the headlight haze fixed isnt going to really improve how much you get. An audi with major engine issues at auction is going to get very little regardless of exterior condition. I always fix the “unknowns” before I touch anything else. You know doing the body work and paint wont cause issues, so why worry about it first? I always personally like to tackle the most problematic areas first that can make or break a flip
Alot of these dealers have adhd
love the Audi videos!
Power might be staying on because a second key fob is somewhere in the car.
😂😂🤦♂️🤡
Yes he did say 3,000 MegaHertz battery (8m3s). To top it off, it wasn't a slip of the tongue, the video guy added it to the video text.
So much entertainment value in these videos. lol
Yes, we call them boots in Australia, and I do think this term came from Britain originally. Love that 3000MHz battery though 😆 I reckon the bonnet clear over the earlier repairs was only single pack that is why it was not very durable in the sun. Sorry to tell you, the hood has to be rubbed back with 400 wet and repainted. It will improve the whole package for auction, don't leave it like that.
Saw you on TV Craig. Congrats.
yooo I wast just watching your bently vids...and now and interested in the a4s and here you are a recent upload 😅❤❤❤
I bought one for 475. But I will gladly take this one off your hands before you ruin this fine Audi convertible.
You can also after you polish the headlights use spray clear too keep them clear .
you need to put a uV protector on the headlights , it will protect and fill micro scratches
Don't want to be rude Craig but sometimes you are your own nightmare... why didn't you focus on fixing the roof and other mecanical issues first? Cause maybe there no point of "investing" on the exterior and/or cleaning if your about to make a loss on that car... priority my friend, priority!
Exactly!
Don't paint if you don't know how to. You are just going to make things worse.
@@CoreMaster111 holding the "gun up high" trying to dust the scratches!? The guy that did the paint HAD to have seen those scratches.
@@warrenlewis3977 Yes, those scrathes are very deep. Whoever sanded probably only used 80 grit.
So they have a whole group of idiots doing bodywork. Good job!
I love that v8 engine sound! That car is worth fixing and keeping
Drills for headlights ftw!
Harbor freight has those kits for like $12 or something like that.
To make more things confusing..In the UK the roof on a convertible is called a hood.
If you had sprayed a sealer on the hood before color, you could probably hide up to 600 grit sanding scratches, but not those tiger claws that look like 36 grit. When you prepsol the panels, should definitely feel that.
Since the car is black it will show any imperfection in the paint it would be best just to wrap it from there or take it back down and redo it
That new guy looks completely clueless and has no sense what he is doing
I sold my 04 B6 S4 with 136k for $5500 with some minor issues. Same car just was a sedan with a sunroof. Great cars, great power & sound with the right exhaust. Minus the timing chains & guides that go out & oil burning😂 I miss my S4 Sedan. The 6sp manual trans in them is pretty solid imo.
On the headlights 800 then use mag wheel polish... Works real well..
great stuff thanks.
Haha in the UK we call the hood a bonnet & trunk a boot. Kinda sounds funny now I’ve never given it any thought before 😂

Hey Craig, you have amazing content and I love your videos. You're not a loser, these cars are mechanical nightmares and a lot of shops won't even work on them. You did what you thought was right, and did what you could on a budget. Why not take this car to Audi and see what the repair cost is and what is involved. If it's way to expensive best to stop spending money on it any further, sell it off to a European parts dismantler. If it's fixable, take it to Macco for a quick and dirty panel repair and paint on the panels that need it, that would at least get it close to looking good. Keep up the great content!
Hi Craig, first of all, I really like this Ferrari flip serie. One thing I keep wondering about is why you don't simply take the headlights out before clearing them up. It will prevent damage on the paint of the car and also makes it easier to get into the corners and edges of the headlight. Seems to me that's more easy than taping up the sides and also gives a better end result. In terms of time it shouldn't make much of a difference with most cars.
Great video , it’s definitely about winning more than losing , don’t beat itself up
Can we get a tour of the ram truck you use!!
You did a nice job on the car
All VAG cars have a paper label in the boot attached to the floor which shows the Paint code and options fitted (in code form), you'll also find the same label at the front of the service book pack. Remember, you never fail, you just gain experience for the next time. The roof could well have been just a dead fuse. First time watching you, loved the real life content, keep up the learning and look forward to the next video
And you were selling a course online :) Hilarious
She's beautiful I have a 2014 A5 . Absolutely love them . I do my own work and enjoy it sometimes as my daily or Weekend ride.
leveling primer and or finish glazing bondo?
In Australia
We say Bonnet (for hood) and Boot (for trunk) Roof is universal 😂
Craig, BONNET and BOOT, simple. You Americans?! Great Channel, best wishes from Northern Ireland to the family.
3000 milliamps my guy not Megahertz that's the CPU jobber.
Haven't checked this in a while, but looks like you're building up enough to eventually get a 550 Maranello. That would be pretty sweet.
maybe might be smart to get a rolling stool for doing the head lights or put it on the lift that looks back breaking or does your workers have thaat stuff?
Pretty Good Video. I kinda wished you covered more on the electrical issue. I have a 05 S4 Cab, with a simaler issue. After48 hrs, battery dosen't have enough juice to start it. Some sort of residual draw on it..... Just another Gremlin.
For the borescope battery did you mean milliamps?
I need the borescope for when I’m looking at a heat exchanger
My suggestion for foggy headlines is : add polishing compound to a Mr. Clean Magic eraser- scrub on & wipe off..
11:07. Did you really just say that? You're my hero.
Cool
iso and water and brush will take the buffing compound film off the top
Use Owatrol Plastic treatment on the headlight Craig, takes 30 seconds and looks even better than sanding.
I remembered when I worked at this shop we used 500 grit sandpaper while wet sanding and then rubbed it with rubbing alcohol for a good dry and sprayed clear coat over it great little trick to last 2-3yrs
It's single stage so it's never gonna look as good as regular paint that you clear over after. I'm telling ya thats 100% why to you it looks a little different.
I am happy he exist, he buys the cars I wouldn't. Then he sells them for more than I thought
Dude, did you get a new camera? That thing is spinning like crazy, from one person to the next, making my eyes cross.
You didn't prime the hood first and guide coat and sand it flush to get sanding scratches out????????????
You prob woulda been better off getting that color made up in a rattle can and got the good clear in a rattle can to.
As a reseller, I would have either done 1 of 2 things. If i could do all the work it needed myself. I would do that. If not, I would part it out. I guarantee I could sell the parts for far more than 2500 but Audi parts would be a slow sale, may take upwards of 2 years to see ROI.
How do you retail?
Bonnet and boot are used in Australia 🇦🇺
why did you fire germain
My best line ever...."it hit every thing but the lottery" !
The radio most likely is staying on because of a faulty or completely failed door jam switch...keep door open pull the switch out
Craig you just need a painter like me to come and teach you how to do this so you dont have the problems like the hood. I can show you how to do it cheep and without the problems you are having, to bad you live on the other side of the country. love to see the cars you do
Sand it, use some hi build primer and repaint, should come out fine
Would have to go to bare metal.
Walnut blast those intakes and valves
3000Mhz battery, not bad! 😉
Ty FW!
Maybe you should watch a few Scotty Kilmer videos, especially the ones on Audis. You may be the new Hoovie of the Northeast lol. Keep up the good work!
Craig’s jokes are insane 😂😂😂
Baking soda on half a lemon works in half the time to clean headlight
Man I feel Craig on so many levels. Doing cars, and homes. I get a win in the low percentile range. But finally a big win on a car, and home. Almost doubling my money on both. And all that grinding pays off big!
Bonnet and boot is a rest of the world thing. Kind of like the metric system.
Seen ads for Vinyl Clear Gloss paint protection film. Advertised as almost invisible over factory paint · Clear self-healing polyurethane film. · Ideal to protect factory paint. Film could be clear, tinted or matte. Would this work on hiding hood issues?
PS - have you looked at getting a hood from breakers yard and repainting?
PS2 - if Audi is running correctly, and the above doesn’t make financial sense, will you run car through auction or sell to customer who is willing to live with imperfections?
Masterful wet headlight comment at 11minute Mark ####
Sorry, but those headlights are awful. How can you be happy with that job lol.
@ 11:07. Cracked me up. Lol. Hope you didn't lose all three of your female viewers though. Us male viewers should be taking notes on all the good advise. 👍
I don't know. It seems like there's too many hours into the headlights I'd rather just buy them new on eBay. Some are like 40 bucks
PLZ TELL ME YOUR OUTRO SONG 🎵
The off button doesn't work on the radio probably the remote wire to the radio
Hey Craig, I love your channel. I haven’t missed a video since I found your channel maybe 2 years ago. I’m sorry and I really hate to complain but PLEASE can we stop with putting every other thing you say on the bottom of the screen? I love your videos. I watch every single one but lately I’ve been finding that it’s been were distracting and annoying that all the things you say are written on the bottom of the screen in big bold white and yellow letters. It’s ok every once in a while but it’s become almost constant. Besides that, keep the great videos coming. I’m sure I’m not alone here when I bring this up. I feel like it’s been ever since you got someone to do your editing for you. Thanks for listening.
Cant you just get a new hood and call it a day? That car possibly need timing chain replacement too so that gonna be a dud if the Chains bad
EZ fix. Wrap it & buy a car shield warranty and tell us how it goes!
Carbon Firber Hood swap maybe
Luv the show Craig when you coming back to Richmond
At the dealership, wrinkles on the 2nd row headrest trim on the s8 is such poor quality. Would never accept that for that price point. Surprised they put that on their showroom floor.
Metallics always settle in the scratches
Couple light coats, cut n' buff.
Dam you can give yourself a Colonoscopy 👍👍
Entertaining video.
The cringe work you do on cars is a little frustrating, but hopefully others learn from it.
I can't stand Audis but I do love seeing cars restored in some capacity.
The headlights seems foggy, even after the treatment, something is missing in the process..
I noticed that too. They still looked like shit.
That guy is gonna trash your cars. Its obvious he ain't got a clue about cars.
The rule has always been never pay more than scrap value for any European make vehicle over 8 years old or over 80k miles .
Now that the stupid covid market is over, need to heed that rule.🚙
You're giving your customers Miss information about the headlights the right way to do it is too wet sanding the 300 600-800 1015 and then 2001 clear coat them that makes them look brand-new . When you wet sand and buff them with whatever buffer or compound it does not last you can actually go to a body shop make friends with the painter and slip him the 50 and it'll do your headlights for if you provided you did all the sanding work if he has to send them down you're probably will get anywhere from 100 to 250
VW (Audi) can be so cool looking and all the bells and whistles. Then you check repair cost on average (upwards of $6k if you get into any part of the engine) then the cool factor really wears off quick. I totally would love a S3 or S4, but do not want to give my money to the Audi Stealership in our area. Trust me they already have a nice looking waiting room. Just remember if the waiting room is swanky, then you a paying to sit there with every minute they working on your car.
Seriously Audi S6, 3200 lbs. Maybe with no seats and carbon fiber all around. An Audi S6 is more in the 4400 lbs (Wet), which doesn't seem like a lot but 1,200 lbs. makes a huge difference when talking power to weight ratio. Luckily for the S6 you have a 450HP Twin Turbo 4.0 liter V8 mated to a Quatro AWD system. Good for solid 0-60 in 4 seconds flat and the 1/4 mile flies by a 12.5 second.
Great video, keep up the good work!!!
The BOOT is the rear trunk in America.. I'm 71 and I know that !! Always has been !!
Oh, I want one of those scopes. Start a DIY colonoscopy business. 😂
