Hi Craig, I sell cars for friends and family out of my driveway so they don't lose money on trade in. I hate marketplace but unfortunately it's where people look so I am forced to list the there. However I have found something that helps to comb through the crap you mentioned in this video. I have found people don't read the description and only scroll through the pictures. I take amazing photos of the vehicles I sell so the first one always stands out the second picture I now have a PDF photo saying the price and reasonable offers considered by serious buyers in person only. Online offers of any kind will not be considered and will be ignored. It has practically eliminated the problems for me.

Auction Tips- we do a "tag team" approach to pre-auction. Much quicker & easier, one hooks OB2 Scanner, other checks tires, wheels. etc, One starts engine guns engine, other is looking under hood at engine same time, and exhaust, brake lights, and fluids etc.. All options and windows checked out, total time 5-8 min per vehicle. Alone, a 30pt inspection would take 20-30min. Or go visit a new car dealer, for all his over 100k trade-ins, no auction needed. Brandon Ford, Tampa, will not keep any trade-ins over the 3yr/36k factory warranty, everything else is auctioned.

Book was 21k, that Facebook guy kept trying to negotiate his last offer was 12k which was below trade price that a dealer would offer. He was rude to the very end saying it wasn't worth my asking. Bravo. I’ve sold many cars in my 66 years, going back to print newspaper ads. They always do one of two things. Either a ridiculous lowball swing-for-the-fence like Alfred E. Newman hitting on the prettiest girl at the party, or the “what’s your best price?”. First one’s easy. Second one, i take them to school. “The price is in the ad.” “Yeah, but…”. “There’s no ‘yeah, but’. Here’s how this works. You make an offer, i make a counteroffer, and we either meet somewhere between them or we don’t. But I’m not going to negotiate with myself. That’s stupid.” By that time, most of them have that look toddlers get when you try to explain the Second Law of Thermodynamics. These people are out walking freely among us…

Did you get an RSQ8 Or RS6 finally for winter driving? Gen Z anti theft…lol. My 17 y/o drives a 94’ Miata 5 speed. Seems like Gen Z is liking manual shift more and more.

You need to hire someone just to go thru the bad offers and send you the valid offers only. Someone who is desensitized to the pin pricks. Someone who can take the flames, the insults, the name calling, the low balls, etc. Then you'll only hear of the best offers. It could be someone working remotely. Send them a few bucks.

i don't have any idea if this would work, but what if you listed the 370z on marketplace for $20k with the intention of accepting the $17?

Did you let the buy know about the damage that was done or was it part of hidden damage that buyers are no aware of?

And the SQ8 which is more affordable. There’s also the RS6 Avant but those are hard to come by. I’m guessing SQ8.

Two thoughts: 1) The Boxster is a fantastic car to drive, regardless of which motor it has. Even the tiptronic transmission version is fun to drive.
    2) That particular motor in this one sounds exactly like the motor in our Sienna minivan. Not especially thrilling unless you're into that sort of thing. Smooth, yes. Great sounding... meh not so much.

Pretty sure you can sign up for an insurance policy and pay monthly. If you cancel early, you get a refund back. If a driver chooses not to have insurance, that's on them. But for the test drive and while they're shopping for a car, they can get a policy, even if it's temporary

Thats pretty clean for a 2009 they took good care of that one. I've seen 4 year old nissans look like 30 year old cars. Do you know what kind of exhaust they put on that nissan?

The nonsense you have to put up with from "tire kickers" is amazing. It's clear to me you are not in an easy business but I can also see that it can be fun!

I recently sold a 21 year year old motorcycle on Craigslist. It ran well and the price was fair. I mentioned in the ad that I didn't want it anymore because I now only ride my much newer motorcycle. I had a couple people ask me if I could give them the bike for free since I already had another one. I also had a couple of people that wanted to set up a payment plan with me (and the total payments was still less than my asking price). I ended up selling the bike to a middle-aged man who bought it for his son. Since the price was more than fair, he didn't try negotiating. He gave me a check, we went to his bank, and I got the cash. Why can't everyone be like that?
