Oooo, thanks for the tip! I have an animated short I've been working on, and so far I've been using a blend node + cutter to do the shading on characters & environments, but this looks better. It will definitely streamline my process!
I've been watching you for years and I feel like everytime I think I got a handle of toonboom you teach me something new. Now I will be implementing this in my normal routine. Thanks a bunch Onion skin. Sorry I am super poor but I definitely will find some way to pay you back in the future. Have good day/year bro. Keep up the fantastic work
First off, thanks for the tutorial. This is very helpful, and just what I needed for my upcoming animation. And 2nd, why does the background music sound so familiar?
I went into Toon Boom with the notion and the suggestions and encouragement from close colleagues and friends that it was going to be a friendly program with a quick and simple nonabrasive learning curve. One year later....And... It is still the single most difficult app I have ever encountered in my 25+ years in the industry. In between tutorials and crash courses and hands on physical class labs for Toon Boom, I picked up NUKE Software on a whim and began teaching myself without any outside help in an attempt counter to the TOON BOOM Chaos. In that exact same year later, I have mastered NUKE completely down to a surgical science and have made money with it doing only compositing. TOON BOOM... still trying to figure out how to do a simple shade blend between two similar colors all while shoveling out subscription fees. I will not give up, I will master it. At least NUKE's Node workflow has a stability about it. Toon Boom is literally a guessing game inside of a labyrinth made of mirrors at the threshold of the "Hellraiser" puzzle box. Or... maybe I had a stroke along the way.
is there a way to do this with parent pegs? you see I have a character rig and all of it is attached to a ultimately 1 parent peg for "full body" so would I need to just add this effect to each non peg

Hi ,can you help me please?! 😢😢😢 I came from Adobe Animate, I faced a lot of problems, such as when I make an animation inside the symbol. I bring it to timeline..it reaches a specific frame and stops, although inside the symbol there are frames that did not appear in timeline itself
the headache i get with the nodes is unbelievable. i copy the node setup exactly but my drawing vanishes in render view. I've been fighting with the shading for a week now.
It took a while for me to make it work, but totally worth it! thank you so much!!

That was fast, thanks for the tip
Is there a way to exclude specific colors from being shaded?
This is useful.
You da man! Thanks for making videos and thanks for being you :)
Awesome thanks
which version of harmony lets you do this? :)
thanks
Is nodes a premium thing? Because I can't find it and only have essetials as thats all I can afford.
Afraid so. Some of these effects can be found however in the timeline view instead though!
New layer > Effects

Tell me please! Does toon boom harmony work on macbook m1 pro? Thank you!
Don’t take it from me but I believe a patch was recently released to give it support for M1 macs
funny enough i can do this exact trick in Clip studio just havimg a duped layer and clip it then set the dup to a multiply Layer instead
Awesome
