You reckon a FIFO electrician apprenticeship is worth giving a go? I am a Uni graduate in computer science and genuinely thinking about a career in trades.
there are 2 different ways to get FIFO electrical apprenticeship. one is to get employment from a mining company such as FMG, Rio, BHP and alike, second way is to get a job with a electrical company that work for mining companies. either way will get you the license and relevant experience. to increase your chances you can be a trade assistance for awhile, do your pre apprenticeship, move up north or declare in your resume that you are willing to move up north. Good Luck
I’m a maintenance electrician underground working at a mine in northern Ontario. Our work schedule is 12 hour days on a 14 day shift, once our shift is up we fly home for 14 days.. the travel and living is provided by the mine, we make 160-180 with OT your well over 200.
