I adore triples as well. The MV Agusta 800cc triple is perfection for me. The triumph 1050 is probably amazing but from a high revving, FAST REVVING, sporty perspective the MV is flawless. I’d absolutely consider a CFmoto ~800cc triple if it was made with quality components and free revving…not so much if it’s more of a bargain basement heavier/cheaper internals situation because triples live and die by that character and sound, induction exhaust etc. and if the rotating mass is such that it’s a bit slugging and has rev hang etc I’d just rather a inline 4 at that point because manufacturers seem to have an easier time with them

Parallel twins are good until you get north of 120mph. They get shaky and the two pistons are trying to rip each other apart. You can get a little more revs out of a three. But an inline four is the way to go for power and sound. V4s and some 6's are out there but they're rare. Inline four is bulletproof

While I am very bored with parallel twins, inline fours don't usually have a good enough power to weight ratio on smaller displacement bikes. The only spec I can find so far is a top speed of around 140mph, which isn't very good considering my RS 660 gets up to 150 with a parallel twin and weighs under 400lbs.

these 4 cylinder bikes targets another public(There is another one from QJ Motors that realeased this year too), it's potential clients are from less developed countries, where a 600 super sport cost the same as a house, having the option of a smaller inline four is a dream that can get true for these bikers now. Most riders dreams with the beauty of a inline four, but that's pretty common in rich countries, you would not understand.

Sad to see atleast this version will be for domestic market only, however i suspect/hope that this will be exclusive to the "Voom" and that other markets will get to see the standard sport faired 500SR come to their markets. I think a lot of people love the whole idea of the ZX-4RR, middle weight inline 4 screamer with fully useable power, however i imagine the price tag really does hurt it's sales and i think this is where the 500SR will shine.

The coolest thing they could do with that exhaust if it's a flat-plane 4-cylinder is make it true divorced duals. Run the left half of the engine through the left pipe, and the right half through the right pipe. I've heard a GSXR 750 in a drift buggy/kart with this setup and it sounded ALMOST like a cross-plane. Gotta rev it out to the full 13k+ though for it to work, low RPM ain't it with such a setup as it'll just sound like two 180-deg parallel twins below 11k.

Lots of people in N.American market don't understand the rest of the world. In many countries they have a tiered drivers license system and as a young new rider there are restrictions on motor size limitations. They don't give 500 or 1000cc bikes to 16,18 year old riders, emissions and other standards keep lots of these motorcycles out of the market. CF Moto just finished a huge facility in Monterrey Mexico, Nuevo Leon, all the bikes 800, 450 have big pre orders. CF is in large dealer in S. California, so the bikes are on the floor in 15 places, CF Moto is doing some things a little different than other Chinese, they are getting permission from KTM to use designs and the parts are interchangeable. and the obvious flaws w the direct to consumer, like buying a motorcycle from Amazon or other Internet site is fixed by having dealership support before bike is popular not afterwards

China with some 1.5 billion people is a very large market to start with/ and starting "domestic only" doesn't always mean domestic only forever, and if they do have a small glitch or two to iron out, better to keep it a secret among their 1.5 million people than to lose face over it world wide with over 7 billion people. Good basic business strategy. Then again, with developing a new power plant, I would expect to see them bring something to Western markets at some point 2 to 5 years in the future. *I'm on my third motorcycle, and it's a Versys x300 (which is at least "larger" than my prior moto's) Keep it right side up/ and have fun riding, love seeing those Austin area country roads, we visit Austin at times to see the grandkids.

This is a really cool i-4, although I think they're missing the mark on power. Going for full A2 limit power would've totally broken the 80-95 hp "middleweight sport bike" market.
Who wouldn't have looked at the R7, GSX-8R, Daytona 660, ZX-4R, RS660, etc. Then looked at a budget friendly CFMoto i-4 with those sick retro looks, screaming inline-4 sound, making 94 HP, and chosen that over the underwhelming ZX-4R, (especially in the US) or poor comparison twins?
What I'd really love to see is someone like Yamaha or Triumph, with their extensive experience extracting street friendly power out of triples, build a road & track capable 499cc triple, pushing 90-95 hp, revving to 14-15,000 RPM.
The power density would be easily in line with the 675's, 765's, 800's, from Triumph and MV Agusta Daytonas and F3s.
The added displacement and larger bore, smaller cylinder count triple would give much better mid-range torque characteristics for street use, without the peaky top end.
Lopping off a cylinder would even aid in keeping weight down below 190 kgs

China has a well earned reputation for building crappy, throw-away motorcycles, amongst other things. It has nothing to do with prejudice. Early CF bikes are still turds. Fun while they work and yes cheap, but they are crap. They are slowly making them better, but they still don't have the performance and longevity of their Japanese counterparts. I have no doubt, when they finally do catch up, if they do, the cost will also go up.

Another thing, if you want a linear progression of displacement (and therefore torque) as a factor of rider skill/readiness and bike size, then you could go 250, 400, 635, 1000, 1600.
*250* would pretty much be only a single for the American market. MAYBE a twin if we did some A2 style bullshit and needed the RPM to make it highway capable. Or a triple or 4-banger if we wanna bring back the 90s 250 era, but cost would probably make that dead in the water, TBH.
*400* could be a single for Dual Sport/SM, a twin for sport naked, and maybe a triple for a beginner supersport. I really don't see the point or need for a 4-cyl here... Maybe bring back the NC30/NC35? But the triple would be cooler and cheaper(which is probably the reason it'd be limited to a twin, anyway), so. Maybe do the V4 here and a triple for the above with the idea that each category's 3+ cylinder has the same HP rating (achieved through lower torque but more RPM) as the next category's 2-cyl can achieve.
*635* 4-cyl mids are dead, so a Single for the big dual sport/dirt bike and light ADV, and probably a twin as the "advanced starter bike" which is basically what we already have with the MT07 and RS660. Weight is key here, the lighter the bike, the less "beginner" this is. If it's a crossplane twin it could also go in a beginner sport-cruiser. Triple here only if the market genuinely wants a revvy supersport, which it doesn't so like... IDK. Especially with the upper middleweight category being full of 750-900cc stuff (and now, stupidly, 950 or w/e with the Duke "990")
*1000* Basically keep the supersport category as it is, but add variety with some cross-plane twins (V or Inline, and pref 285-deg) and triples. And for the love of god, please actually TUNE the goddamn liter twins so they rev enough and have enough torque to bust the 120hp mark. Tired of underpowered twins. I want a reliable 135-150hp liter twin FFS.
*1600* Pretty much only a cruiser or touring displacement category. Twin for the would-be Harley rider (with a 305-deg crank for a better/more applicable sound), and triple for those wanting smoothness. For super-cruisers/muscle bikes you could probably justify a V4 or a 6-cylinder of some type, but eh... Not really necessary.
*Full disclosure, I don't think any combination of engine displacement or cylinder count in any category, nor any consolidation of it will by any means "revolutionize" the market.* That's just not the way motorcycling is going. It's stagnant, unchanging, and rooted in the unfortunate obstinance of "tradition." What I think COULD genuinely change it are some novel suspension and overall bike layout changes. Stuff like Dan Gurney's AAR Alligator, who's ultra low CG brought from the 18" seat height made the handling "near telepathic" according to several reviewers. Not to mention vastly increase the braking and acceleration effectiveness due to the drastically reduced (eliminated in the case of the Gator) tendency to wheelie and stoppie.
And that's to say nothing of the fact that the telescopic fork is just about the shittest suspension design imaginable. Wanna know what's significantly better even despite being in it's infancy and only being explored by ONE man? Robert Horn's "virtual hub center" steering double A-arm design. What it really is is just a double ball joint/4-bar suspension for a car-oriented longitudinally for use with a bike wheel. It's fuckin GENIUS, light weight, responsive, it decouples steering from suspension, and since it has 4 inches of geometric trail, it has just as much (if not more) proper feedback as the forks we're unfortunately used to at this point.
THOSE two things would revolutionize the market. Not changing what size and cylinder count engines go into whichever abstract "category" of bike people claim to want to buy.
