A couple of my favorite unpeated scotches right now would probably be the Glen Garioch 12yo, signatory vintage teaninich 13yo unchillfiltered collection, Glenturret triple wood, and singleton of Glen Ord 12yo slow batch distilled.
Brilliant list Tim, if this is all you could have in your bar you'd be happy... until the peat cravings kick in 😅 This list gave me hope as well to see how many great whiskies are out there for a good value. Cheers Tim, great video 🥃
lol can’t believe I forgot, in that case the classic laddie is one I’d have on my list that’s not on yours but I haven’t tried a few of them to compare to.
I would add Arran 10, Tobermory 12, Glenallachie 12, Glancadam 10, Indri (you can debate scotch vs. international but Indri (46%, all natural and under a $100) beats many by a mile in terms of what it is. I also got Craigellachie 13 (bought 3 bottles) for $50 CAD on an offer. I realize a couple of these maybe over $100 in other markets but I managed to get all of these under $100 CAD. I can't say that will be the case going forward but I have tried all of them and they are all great.
Nice list 👍 BTW, I can still get Craigellechie 13 for $50 in NYC 🤔 Here's my Top Ten Scotches Under $40ish... 10. Gordon Graham's Black Bottle 9. Glen Moray Elgin Classic 8. Glen Moray Sherry Cask 7. Aerstone 10 Land Cask 6. Loch Lomand 12 5. Glen Fohdry French Oak 4. Scarabus (46%) 3. Glencadam 10 2. Compass Box Orchard House 1. Benromach 10
Thanks! You've hunted out some really good prices. I wouldn't expect to get even half of these for less than $40 (and anything below $60 on the Craig 13 is a buy it price to me)
I get a little annoyed with these whiskey ratings. You knock whiskeys that are chilled filtered or have color added but to me what really counts is the aroma and taste. The increased popularity of Bourbon is related to high cost of good Scotch. Last year, I bought Ardbeg 10 in a presentation box with two metal cups for $50. Now that bottle without any box is $70. $100 for decent Scotch is no bargain. I am not a whiskey snob. I buy what I like to drink regardless of the label.
Hi Edward. I think part of the reasoning for chill filtration and color additives being knocked is that to some those elements impact flavor. Regarding Scotch pricing sadly I’m seeing the same things you are just not as bad. Ardbeg is up to $60 in my area.
What are your favorite unpeated scotch whiskies for less than $100?
UNpeated.
@@ralff1977 Thanks 👍
@@MrChristopherMolloy Still great choice - I also favor peated ones.
The Classic Laddie, hands down ❤-- Bruchladdie nailed that one, imo😂

Nice! I've been seeing more and more appreciation of that Glen Garish lately...

Thanks! Some good values in there for sure.
Hard to get hold of but just landed a Kilkerran 8 sherry for £62, phenomenal dram
That's a great price, but that one's peated ... Cheers!

These are solid choices, and that's a great price on that Craig 13 ...
Another good sherried one is Edradour Caledonia 12, although it runs quite close to $100.
It was on the long list of candidates, but - even though it can happen - I just couldn't find it reliably under the $100 ...
Nice list 👍

@@whiskywhereabouts I'm in NYC, not exactly easy to find bargains here these days 😷
Hi Christopher. You’re so lucky you have lots of under $40 options. By me Benromach 10 year is $56, Glencadam 10 is $60. Craigellachie 13 is $55.😢
@@TheReal_DeanD Craigellechie 13 is worth $55.
@@MrChristopherMolloyit’s a banger. I was so spoiled. For years I got it for $38 to $42.
