We can argue all day long about this stuff and that's what makes it fun and an enjoyable hobby. Rare Breed is so good that it makes me question why i have 70 bottles in my collection. It's so much better than almost all of them. WT really deserves major accolades for A making a bottle we can all find, B pricing it very fairly in today's crazy market and C for never disappointing us with the juice in the bottle.
I feel the same way. There are very few bottles in my collection that I enjoy more than rare breed. Like Coy Hill. Rare Breed would for sure be in my top 5 out of the 100 or so different bottles I have/had.
How much is everyone paying for Rare Breed? My local liquor store recently increased the price from $38/bottle to $57/bottle, so I'm done buying Rare Breed. For that much money I'd rather Older Forester 1910 or 1920.
Two of my favorite bourbons made the finals. I love RB as a treat pour but have OF 100 as a daily drinker. Add Coopers Craft 100 to the mix and you have my favorites covered. I find CC 100 even more enjoyable than Woodford Double Oak, which I never would have predicted (except for the fact that I'm cheap 😏). When you reached the final 4, I realized I didn't care who won - it was going to be a great product. Thank you for doing this. It's always enjoyable.
While this result is not surprising, WTRB is a heavy hitter and I personally flip between WTRB and OF 1920 as my all-time favourite bourbons, it's been fun to watch you guys work through this lineup over the last several months. Thank you for coming up with this idea and seeing it through to the end!
An epic conclusion! We appreciate the effort and dedication to this series. I value both of your opinions so this was very worthwhile as a viewer. It was a fun journey. Cheers 🥃
For me either of the two finalists are on my shelf always and will be. And why I don’t chase unicorns the whiskey I drink is fine with me and fits my financial situation.
Thank you Chad and Sara. This was a great series and I really enjoyed it. I can't say that I am surprised at the winner but, all of the last 4 are worthy sippers.
Personally i think jack Daniel's single barrel barrel proofs are the second best bench mark for quality next to rare breed. They're findable fairly affordable and offer some unique and distinct flavors
I agree with you as well. Some of the barrels are hitters and some are just okay though. Those hitters are for sure a close second to Rare Breed for me.
We thought about doing it like that, basically a Flight Fight style, but decided we didn’t want to break the one vs one tournament style. Maybe we can do it later down the road as a Flight Fight episode.
I made absolutely sure I didn’t sneak a peak of any comments while watching this episode (went full screen immediately!! Ha!). This was a very enjoyable run of this bracket of goodness in a glass. Not surprised by the winner, but am certainly astonished that OF made it as far as it did. Always have a bottle of Rare Breed on hand and had a bottle of OF 100 maybe over a year or so ago. Have to revisit. Great job y’all.
Great match-up, guys. Thank you!!! It reaffirms what I knew all along... Rarebread is a rare marvel. You guys choose my two favorite bottles and I couldn't be much happier. Cheers !!!
I’m sorry it’s over - I enjoyed watching those matchup videos. Personally, I’ve never been a huge Wild Turkey fan, and Rare Breed isn’t even my favorite readily available offering from that distillery. But as huge a fan I am of Old Forester, the basic screw-top 100 proof shouldn’t be confused as a runner-up to Rare Breed:).
Thank you so much for putting in the work and making such a great, fun series. Now I kinda wanna do a blind tournament with all the bourbon I have in my collection!
guys I'd really love to see this next time as a 100% blind competition where you have a friend compile all the votes, set the brackets and do all the pours and you find out nothing (not even which seeds you are tasting) until there's a winner
Gotta say, Wild Turkey just fits my taste…WT 101 is the whiskey I keep for everything, Russels 10 year is always on the shelf, Rare Breed is what I like best. And here in FL it bounces from $48 to $55 this year…I too just haven’t experienced anything more expensive that I like as much as Rare Breed. Cheers to all🥃
Have you tried Long branch? It's not my favorite of the WT lineup but it has a very unique and interesting sweet mesquite flavor to it. The first time I tried it, I just kept wanting to pour more.
Since I’m only a few years into my bourbon journey, I found this to be a great way to learn more. I had not tasted Rare Breed yet and after watching this picked up a bottle. I was very pleasantly surprised. Thanks for the great content.
Enjoy your channel and just subscribed. I bought a bottle of rare breed for thanksgiving evening it was great! Happy to see it on top of your challenge. Looking forward to watching many more of your videos! Thanks!
Awesome series, guys! I applaud your crazy dedication and endurance to go through these all. You both had some great insights and thoughts on each of the selections here. I'm glad there are still plenty of good buys out there without having to give up your first born for them. Keep up the fantastic work, you two!
Awesome episode and series! Loved the whole thing. I guess I won't hold my breath for the NIT version next, all the bottles that didn't make the big tourney. :) Looking forward to whatever you have coming up. Cheers!
I said out loud "OH NO!" when I saw Four Roses Small Batch Select VS Wild Turkey Rare Breed. Putting two of my favorites against each other was PAINFUL to see. But of course now I need to try this against each other to see what happens. I wasn't surprised that Rare Breed took the title, it is a favorite of many for good reason. But I swear if the price goes up because of you two... 🖖😋🥃
I consider OF100 my daily pour due to the flavor at such a low price point. I have enjoyed the other 3 semi-finalists. Wild Turkey products are also a favorite of mine. Thanks for the series!
Rare Breed is a blend of 6, 8, and 12 year whiskey. That's a fact that gets overlooked. Most bourbon on the market is 6-8 years and very few have 12 year juice unless it's Dickel or unwanted MGP barrels. It's a crazy value in the market even with the more recent price increase to $50+.
Thank you for June/July madness, lots of buzzer beaters! I have not been able to find a black cap Early Times but I do need to buy some OF100, the OF 1910 is my favorite first pour bourbon but much more expensive. I always have WT Rare Breed on hand
Great video, as always. Not a surprising result. Old Forester 100 (and Old Forester 86) is one of the best budget bourbons available. And, of course, Rare Breed was a favorite from the beginning for a reason. I really enjoyed this entire series. I hope you will continue doing more videos like this.
Well I was wrong but at the same time Rarebreed is my favorite go to for sure. I don't have any currently and it makes me want to go get some. I bought so much different SiB that I'm not allowing myself to have my all time favorites.
rI really enjoy watching your videos. My top picks are Rare Breed, Early Times and Old Forrester. Thanks for educating me on great bourbons. Please keep making videos.
It depends on time of year for me. Rare Breed is one of my favorites neat, but in the summer I actually prefer KC 9 SB 120 Proof (I like it WAY more on the rocks than I like RB). That's the beautiful thing about bourbon...it's an ever evolving journey 😎
I'd like to see more blind bracket comparisons, maybe breakdown by mash bill so wheateds only go against wheateds, and high ryes only against high ryes to not have such a "supposed" difference.
Just an awesome series! Well produced and so much fun! You are one of the most trusted whiskey channels and for VERY good reason! Well done and THANK YOU!
That Rare Breed vs Knob Creek SB battle is looking more like the Laettner/Hurley-era Duke vs early Pitino-era Kentucky regional match-up within this whole bracket. Too bad there had to be a loser. And, yes, I’m incredibly disappointed in myself for associating Rare Breed to Duke in any way, but the comparison works … even if it feels so wrong. Also crazy that Rare Breed is usually discounted from the store I buy it from.
You took a long time to figure out which is the best bourbon in the lineup, when I could have saved you a lot of time and told you Rare Breed was the best. It is still fun to watch you go through all of them.
Rare Breed was my pick to win from the beginning. So I'm more impressed that ET BiB and OF signature made it to the semi finals (although in my market they are both $25 and under which would have eliminated one earlier). Those are some of my favorite mixers, particularly the Early Times given the LITER bottle. OF signature has to be one of the most over looked bourbons, maybe because they have been making it forever with very little fanfare. Great comparison.
Thank you for the series I visited a whiskey club bottle share a few weeks ago and they are going to set up their meetings for this year using the basketball bracket system and They said they saw someone online doing that on some whiskey videos so I knew right away who they are talking about it’s y’all… pretty cool man.
I wish I liked Rare Breed more than I do. I'm a huge WT fan, and a proof hound, but to me Rare Breed just doesn't do it for me. It's not bad, but for the price I want something darker, richer, and more rounded. I've always found it to be a bit thin, citrus forward, and a little sharp.
Maybe I’m broken, but I don’t get the love for Rare Breed. It must just not be my profile, but I bought a bottle and it was fine, not a revelation of value. I do love Early Times BiB though.
It would be awesome if next time, you don't reveal any of the bottles until the tournament is completed. As you get into these final rounds, like you literally just said as I was writing this, it's hard to not know what you're drinking. That reveal episode would be pretty epic as well.
Same and same. I've only found 1792 FP at a wildly high markup, and I'm just not playing that game. Maybe we'll get some luck and come across a reasonably priced bottle or find a trade.
Thanks for the series. I am not surprised that OF 100 did well but am a little surprised it was final 2. My standard for Manhattans and an occasional sip neat but I like 1792 SB better
Next time price should not matter. Put full proofs against each other, single barrels, bonded staff and so on. Should be much more consistent. And then just for fun put winners in each category against each other.
We drink rare breed probably more than any other bottle out of the 50 bottle collection with red breast 12 being number two and four roses select being number three and it’s really not close. The cask strength redwood empire offerings have been seeing more action of late, but they are hard to find and expensive. Shout out to WT because both rare breed offerings are stellar
I have 3 of the 4 final four on my bar cart right now, with Early Times being the odd bottle out. It disappeared a couple of years ago here in northern IL and would like to get some more of the Brown Foreman version before it switches over. Congratulations to Rare Breed. Such a strong contender at its price point. There are so many great bourbons out there that are accessible and affordable that I have given up on chasing the out of reach ones, including the ones that were under $50 only a few years ago and are out of reach today. Congrats on 7 years! Been around since the 3000 sub era.
I remember the first videos of 7 years ago and you guys are amazing! Thanks for always putting out great videos!!! Rare Breed rocks!!! Findable, affordable, and tastes great! What more can you say!?🎉
Nice work on this whole series. The old forester 100 is a bit of a surprise. Nice nose on it. RB used to be a bit under the radar; the price has recently gone up significantly in my area.
Rare Breed is a great pour. Old Forester 100 is not my favorite OF product…I would think head to head with other OF products, it would not have finished nearly as high. Great process you guys did!
A bit anticlimactic, but Rare Breed is just that good I guess 😂 I have to try it! It tops the list all the time for “value” and “best bourbons under x.”
Howdy folks! Great show and due diligence with your picks! Glad to see so many value picks mixed in with the heavy faves! In the end to each his/ her own but have to agree with most of y’all’s decisions! 🥃🇨🇱🤠

@@LanguagesWithAndrew $50 Canadian is the cheapest I’ve seen recently up here in Alberta.
It’s $48 in Michigan
it is $51 but for that I would buy OF 1920 for $55
Two of my favorite bourbons made the finals. I love RB as a treat pour but have OF 100 as a daily drinker. Add Coopers Craft 100 to the mix and you have my favorites covered. When you reached the final 4, I realized I didn't care who won - it was going to be a great product. Thank you for doing this. It's always enjoyable.
Woodford Reserve Double Oak would be the champion for me. I just hate the bottle shape.
I love CC 100 but I am torn because my daily drinker is 1792 SB which is so good
I am heading to the liquor store today and going to buy whatever wins! So much suspense!! Thanks for all you do!

Also, not surprised.
That was quite the haul. Thanks for doing this and your commitment to it.
An epic conclusion! We appreciate the effort and dedication to this series. I value both of your opinions so this was very worthwhile as a viewer. It was a fun journey. Cheers 🥃
Thank you for an amazing series 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Congratulations to Rare Breed for being the winner 🥃
For me either of the two finalists are on my shelf always and will be. And why I don’t chase unicorns the whiskey I drink is fine with me and fits my financial situation.
Old Forester 100 is such an underrated bourbon. I’m glad I can get Rare Breed for under 42-45, I will say that!
I was lucky enough to find a handle of OF 100 for $47 when I was on vacation in Orlando. Almost impossible to beat in bang for the buck.
Agree with you that they are amazing! Unfortunately they’re pretty hard to find in our area of KY 😖
@@ItsBourbonNight Wow, they're all over the place in NC.
I agree with you as well. Some of the barrels are hitters and some are just okay though. Those hitters are for sure a close second to Rare Breed for me.
Well done series, thanks guys!

Mega useful! Great series.
Rare Breed FTW!🔥🍻
I agree RB is my favorite under $100 readily available bourbon too but ET BiB is my fav under $50
The overall best match up was Rare Breed vs Knob Creek single barrel. 1792 full proof and 4 Roses S.B. select are also two of my favorites. 🥃👍
Agreed!
Thank you for doing this. You two are the best.
Great match-up, guys. Thank you!!!

I’ve loved this series! Great job!! Rare Breed is one of my favs and one I must always have on hand!

Very conveniently, I picked up OF 100 for the first time yesterday. Going to try it against my usual EWBIB and the 1783 soon.
I’m sorry it’s over - I enjoyed watching those matchup videos. Interesting 1920 didn't make the bracket or maybe I missed it
Should've named them A,B,C,etc... and only revealed the bottle once they got beat so it would be less bias once you got down to the later rounds
No doubt

LOL ... Rare Bread is my go-to neat or mixed, but Woodford Reserve Double Oaked for Manhattans. Usually trend Pikesville or Sazerac for a great Rye.

I still need to get a bottle of 1792 Full Proof, and I'd like to put it head to head with Rare Breed because I bet that's a good matchup.
Same and same. I've only found 1792 FP at a wildly high markup, and I'm just not playing that game. Maybe we'll get some luck and come across a reasonably priced bottle or find a trade.
1792 is awesome
Can you post the final completed bracket
Thanks for the series. I am not surprised that OF 100 did well but am a little surprised it was final 2. My standard for Manhattans and an occasional sip neat but I like 1792 SB better
Great job
I liked this series. Y’all did a great job with it. You could repeat this, maybe at a smaller scale, with finished whiskeys or ryes.
Next time price should not matter. Put full proofs against each other, single barrels, bonded staff and so on. Should be much more consistent. And then just for fun put winners in each category against each other.
Was hoping to find your pallates more in line with mine… 3 of the 4 I see, but despise Four roses. SiB, anyway.
Great challenge guys! Thanks
WHISKEY CHEERS 😎
I have 3 of the 4 final four on my bar cart right now, with Early Times being the odd bottle out. It disappeared a couple of years ago here in northern IL and would like to get some more of the Brown Foreman version before it switches over.
Congratulations to Rare Breed. Such a strong contender at its price point. There are so many great bourbons out there that are accessible and affordable that I have given up on chasing the out of reach ones, including the ones that were under $50 only a few years ago and are out of reach today.
Congrats on 7 years! Been around since the 3000 sub era.
Thanks so much, Marty!!
Any opinions on rare breed unchillfiltered?
And just like that, we ended where we all knew it would, Rare Breed.
“Yes. I dropped a handkerchief…” 😂
Good series, I hope y'all didn't start a run on old Forester 100 which is one of the few I can usually get . One of my favorites too

Nice work on this whole series. The old forester 100 is a bit of a surprise. Nice nose on it. RB used to be a bit under the radar; the price has recently gone up significantly in my area.
OF 100 is my true everyday bourbon. Many $$$ bottles on my shelves surpass it, but for $25? Nothing else even comes close.
Rare Breed is a great pour. Old Forester 100 is not my favorite OF product…I would think head to head with other OF products, it would not have finished nearly as high. Great process you guys did!
Great fun
No Basil Haden? That's the cleanest finishing whiskey I've ever experienced. To expensive to do often but for occasions.
Yeah, it didn't get voted in by the public. It got votes, just wasn't in the top 16 most voted upon for its price category.
Right can we do 64 bourbon in 64 minutes that would be a right giggle
My birthday is coming up in a couple of weeks and my lovely wife treated me to 1st bottle of Rare Breed. I haven't tried it yet and can't wait
Guess I should try Rare Breed, Wild Turkey is usually off profile for me so I’ve never it.
