This is awesome plunking for salmon on the Columbia River. It's on my fishing list. I have seen folks plunk below Bonneville Dam on WA side, but never know the setup. Thanks for sharing.
Much more bank access on WA side Bonneville Dam about a 2 miles stretch however you may go to Bonneville hatchery Oregon side to try your luck. Very limited spots in the spring.
WOW! So cool Hale'! And that fishing pole? So awesome! What a great score and a perfect way to 'break it in' I have to get out there and try. I wonder if my 12' surf rod would be good? I only have spinner reels though (think that'll work?) I'm going to wait until next week to try for shad close to home.
My preferred setup is 12' casting rod, 8 - 12 ounces rating and a baitcasting reel. I have it in the description of the video for details. As far as how to setup rig for plunking here a video link I did on it prior. Good luck. ruclips.net/video/kgWGwgJdVgI/видео.html

Springers are awesome.
Grew up plunking around that area. Upgraded to a boat but still miss plunking. Something relaxing about it. Great job man.
Totally agree for relaxation. I thought I would be bored but it's satisfying when you hook up. Tight lines 🤙🏽🤙🏽

Always nice running into you on the river. So You make sashimi out of that salmon? Very curious. Do you freeze it before you eat as sashimi?
Yeah, FDA suggest with regular fridge 7 days to kill any parasites. Commercial freezer is 48 hrs due to temperature running much colder.
Good job!! Never easy plunking 🎉
Yup...especially places to plunk during high water in the spring. WA side has more bank access for sure.
Im new to salmon fishing and would love to know where this location is? Much appreciated. Im subscribe to your channel, loving the videos!

Good luck out there! The surf rod will absolutely work, as will the spinning rod 👍
Shad are showing up in the Clack Park already. Still low numbers but have arrived.
12' surf rod for snaring is perfect but the setup is best with baitcasting reel.
Just caught 3 wilds and a hatchery today at that spot using pretty much what you use
Pretty awesome. Just a great day for you. 🤙🏽🤙🏽
How different is the rig for Summer Chinook?
