    Nice video, I grew up on the Kalama in the 70s, right downriver from where the coho was caught. Didn't have river guides in those days, it's still a great river. Thanks for the float down memory lane

    Nice bright one for a late coho. Cameron seems like a cool guy, very knowledgeable without sounding like a know it all.

    Hello. I'm new to fishing for anything larger than a smallmouth bass. I live on the north fork of the Lewis river very near where this footage was shot. Today it's August 17th, 2016. I fish from the shore. The water is low and warm. Do you think I'm wasting my time and tackle plunking? Should I be using a slip bobber with a very short leader, or wait for the next run?

      That's a time honored setup on the Kalama. Sometimes we add florescent yarn too. Salmon eggs are great for bait,but not necessary.

      Damn I love that place but go there seldom, despite living just 12 mi away. I may just head up there tonight. I grew up just above Mahaffey Campground. I watched Harry Mahaffey build it when I was small. GREAT place to grow up.

    I don't understand.... Why use a 500 dollar pole for bobber or spinner fishing? You don't need sensitivity when doing that kind of fishing. It's not skill, just waiting for a float to go under. Just buy a 60 dollar medium 9' 6" Okuma Celilio or something.
    If you're drifting eggs with no float and using weight or no weight you should go for a spendy pole. Then that's when sensitivity comes into play. A nice 10' lamaglas 4-8 or 6-12 would be great for sensitivity other wise it's pointless using that pole as a bobber pole.

      hey, why buy a $200 or $2000 or $20000 watch when a $10 timex tells the same time? Why buy a $19 porterhouse steak when a $2 slice of pork eats the same? Why does anyone own a $400K maybach when a $3K 8 year old toyota corolla takes them to the same grocery store?

    • @phantom_hen
      @phantom_hen 6 лет назад +3

      Your first problem understanding why a lightweight, sensitive rod is superior for these styles of fishing is thinking that they require no skill. I would bet you have overlooked a lot of opportunities because you thought it was just so easy.
