I grew up on this river, but left it 40 years ago. I can still recognize where you're fishing at. Thanks for the memories.
Thanks for the tips regarding the hook-set as well as leaving the knot on the jig Justin!
I'll love my Pacific NW,best place on earth, one off the best fishing place.Great video ,Thanks.
Nice video, I grew up on the Kalama in the 70s, right downriver from where the coho was caught. Didn't have river guides in those days, it's still a great river. Thanks for the float down memory lane

Nice bright one for a late coho. Cameron seems like a cool guy, very knowledgeable without sounding like a know it all.

ggod pointers lived in siletz Oregon my hole life fishing is a way of life, videos are worth watching
Hello. I'm new to fishing for anything larger than a smallmouth bass. I live on the north fork of the Lewis river very near where this footage was shot. Today it's August 17th, 2016. I fish from the shore. The water is low and warm. Do you think I'm wasting my time and tackle plunking? Should I be using a slip bobber with a very short leader, or wait for the next run?
Spoon lure in the Lewis
Plunking in August?
What brand of jigs are those?
Whats the make and model of the raft?
Wait.... No bait? Just a corkie? What size hook?
That's a time honored setup on the Kalama. Sometimes we add florescent yarn too. Salmon eggs are great for bait, but not necessary.
Catch & Release FUCK THAT
I live there
You're not related to Mark are you?
@@mrequi1 I think Mark passed away. he was a guide at mahaffeys?.
@@patrickhaug1157 No he is the Executive Director of The Port of Kalama. He's worked there since college I think.
@@mrequi1 I was thinking of a different guy then that use to guide.
@@patrickhaug1157 Yah, must be. I went to school from K - 10th gr with Mark. Nice guy. Has a small farm up off the Kalama River.
Damn I love that place but go there seldom, despite living just 12 mi away. I may just head up there tonight. I grew up just above Mahaffey Campground. I watched Harry Mahaffey build it when I was small. GREAT place to grow up.
I don't understand.... Why use a 500 dollar pole for bobber or spinner fishing? You don't need sensitivity when doing that kind of fishing. It's not skill, just waiting for a float to go under. Just buy a 60 dollar medium 9' 6" Okuma Celilio or something.
If you're drifting eggs with no float and using weight or no weight you should go for a spendy pole. Then that's when sensitivity comes into play. A nice 10' lamaglas 4-8 or 6-12 would be great for sensitivity other wise it's pointless using that pole as a bobber pole.
if you own a company then you want to push what makes you the most money simple marketing
hey, why buy a $200 or $2000 or $20000 watch when a $10 timex tells the same time? Why buy a $19 porterhouse steak when a $2 slice of pork eats the same? Why does anyone own a $400K maybach when a $3K 8 year old toyota corolla takes them to the same grocery store?
Your first problem understanding why a lightweight, sensitive rod is superior for these styles of fishing is thinking that they require no skill. I would bet you have overlooked a lot of opportunities because you thought it was just so easy.
Your glasses are covering your nose
a trebbel hook and a sinker all you...need for river salmon and steelhead lol
Brittany Wilson hahahaha I hope this was a joke or I'll fuck you up😂
@brittany Wilson You Better be joking
