    I'm allowed three poles here I usually setup 2 and cast with one. The river we fish is like 14'-45'.deep depending on the section fishing. Very strong current. We use 2 pound weight to keep our gear from bouncing down the river. Im not a huge fan on that weight and wear and tear on my reel and it takes from the fight of the fish. And 99 percent of the time "tight lining" is a mortal hook up on the fish. So if I do setup like that I'm going there expecting food on my plate for a couple days. If I want to catch and release I'll only take my lighter gear for casting or bouncing or whipping

    Nice vid Cam. Was looking at local regs to see when i can get out next, has anyone tried steelhead in a bay? Puget Sound feeds my local rivers and has an opening so i am curious of how i might attack them.

    Great video Cameron.
    One question, some use a 3 way swivel and drop their weight about one ft. You prefer slider above the swivel? Why?

    • @brendanwoerner3352
      @brendanwoerner3352 Год назад

      I would answer this as saying this is more of a east coast technique. You can literally put the clicker on and have your reel in freespool and the fish swims away with the bait and feels no resistance. Thus allowing more time to set the hook. I would add that I would switch to a barbless circle if possible depending on your local regs to allow a easier hook set and doesn’t hurt this fish if needed to release and you never really lose a fish if you have the correct size hook.

You offer a very well done video presentation. I found myself watching your rod tip in case you got a bite. Where are you located? Tight lines.

    • @speedbird1598
      @speedbird1598 2 года назад

      Oh yeah! I can't give a good suggestion for the best rod/reel, but anything heavy enough to safely cast the weight you are using. If you are gentle you can cast over the limit by a little.

      I like braid for the easy tying and the taughtness of it, personally I’ve never tangled it, actually, I’ve only tangled mono, but that was when I was a kid

    • @Clacka89
      @Clacka89 24 дня назад

      The only reason they recommend braid is cause it breaks the least for new fisherman. I run multiple different lines and sizes on different reels for different techniques and fish. Some work better for certain applications than others.
