Thank you KEXP for the steady stream of great bands old and new. RCB is a fantastic example of the quality music KEXP exposes its diverse listener base to. Love this band!
Found on whim a few months ago. This is my soundtrack driving endlessly in their homeland of NW Oregon, from mountain to coast, forrest and river, sunshine or rain. CANNOT WAIT TO SEE IN PDX FEB 2025!!❤😊
Daughter just seen them live in Melbourne AU. Word now got to me in the UK . Been listening and watching- got a new fan who’ll be spreading the word here👍😀 Terrific stuff guys!
Ramblin' With The Day will never fail to make me smile. And that jam on Empty Bottles! Been following Mr. Johnson since Wooden Shjips and I think this might be my favorite of his incarnations. Endless melancholy joy . . .
Rose City Band has released their fourth album "Garden Party" to my surprise rather quickly you see. Don't worry though, it is well planned and quite good actually IMHO. "Garden Party", put together by Wooden Shjips/Moon Duo guitarist and artist, Ripley Johnson from Portland, OR. Johnson hit a prolific streak, releasing the sophomore album "Summerlong" in 2020 and returning almost exactly a year later with the third set "Earth Trip". (This is a band created and implemented during the great Covid-19 epidemic exclusively!) To be honest, I do believe that the pandemic variant has allowed many artists to peruse their existentialist existence and contemplate their "great ape existence" indefinitely you see? With so many hours, weeks, months, and years of isolation and reflection, post pandemic 2023 has turned into a novel year of very creative rock in all genres. For the forth album "Garden Party", he worked with with Johnson still handling a lot of the playing duties himself and enlisting Moon Duo bandmates John Jeffrey and Sanae Yamada to play drums and synths, respectively The album was released on April 21, 2023, and its content focused on themes of natural beauty and finding hope and solace in nature. I think you'll truly enjoy this psych/rock mellow album immensely and introspectively you see. Pax and love, Murf
It's interesting (to me at least) to see so many electric bassists playing those little Fender Mustangs . . . easy on the back, and they sound great! 🥰
I was looking at them aswell, because of the pick up configuration, is it easy to get the best of both worlds (soundwise), J Bass and P Bass all rapped up in one instrument or not really because of the scale lenght etc?
@@michelleneeds4165 You should be able to tweak the sound enough to handle most music styles with these P/J pickups. Also, a proper setup is really important on shorter scale basses. My only bass now is a Squier Jaguar P/J short scale with upgraded tuners and bridge. I love it, but you'll need to try them out for yourself. Makes sure the store has a good return policy, just in case.
As I’ve gotten older I appreciate my Dan Electro long horn more and more. I used to love this SX Jazz rip I bought about 20 years ago, I swore by it, but it’s chunky and not so great on back or the posture when sitting.
Wooden Shjips fan finding my way over here. Nice stuff. Like it.

Same! Love the channel. Awesome vibes in the background too
Amazing band! I am most amazed that this is the first guitar player that I found is using the middle pickup on a strat! Great sound! :)
