I used to be a nurse. I truly hope that having assisted living/senior citizens and drug rehab patients in the same building doesn't become the norm. Bad idea.
I'm sure Hollywood will make a movie about it where a Meth-head forms an uncommon bond with 80 year old Mildred. "Polar Opposites that would change each other's lives.... forever!" (cue happy music)
Especially with the drug rehab patients doing the meal prep for the assisted living clients! So un-cool!!! Hopefully the assisted living patients were moved to a place with better living conditions!
that bench is amazing. I am surprised a staffer didn't take that when they were leaving the place. just love that you show respect, and privacy for the people that stayed there . hats off you to that. H
it's a CRIME to leave papers with social security numbers laying around. That's how people's identities get stolen. Somebody should do something about that. Even if those people had to leave in a hurry for some strange reason, which doesn't really make sense, whoever checked to make sure the building was vacated should have removed personal papers. But if the people that worked there didn't care all that much for the ones they were taking care of, then they probably didn't care, but it is still a crime. We live in a world with thoughtless, careless people.
I agree about those papers... I wish he would have taken them himself (JP) and disposed of it. That stuff is going to fall into the wrong hands sooner than later.
Public records are left (especially hospital records) behind, and it is sad....there's an abandoned hospital in NE PA that opened the last decade of 1800's and records are scattered all over inside, you can see thru the windows records, equipment, personal items, it just blows your mind!!
@@gailsharkness9909 There have been businesses that have thrown papers with personal data on them in dumpsters, etc., and it is a CRIME. They could be charged for stuff like that.
I'd like to thank you for not only sharing all these abandoned homes and facilities but also for the respect you show to the property left behind in them. I love imagining the lives of the people who lived or worked in these places. I always enjoy your videos!!
JPVideos great video, but then every one I have watched is great. Love how you explain what you can and you add the notes across the screen as updates. I love the long videos, I hate to see them end! Thank you for taking us along on your journeys!
The phone calls are cracking us up. I don't know if I will be opening refrigerators unless I already have on a respirator. That one metal fridge you opened made us recoil out loud. Lol. Looked like a kitchen nightmares episode in the kitchen.

This was very interesting! The way you added details was good - not too much at a time so we weren’t overwhelmed and could enjoy the tour. Thank you so much!
The bench had beautiful inland moth of pearl, wicked! I am severely disabled and I would have needed allot of help to survive. The water was on but the heat was not making a waterfall effect! Bedbugs are not something you want so belongings got. Left due to the infestation. The kitchen had thousands of dollars worth of equipment that should be salvaged. Be aware that building is very old, the old staircase rails and woodwork is telling a story of old age and neglect. Please be careful bedbugs and mold are not something that you want to be near and bedbugs are hitchhikers on clothing, strip after a building like that before you get into your car so they do not travel to your house. Be safe!
Another great video, and that wooden bench is incredible! I cannot believe it was not taken! Some of the windows were beautiful as well. I am so amazed things were not taken out of there, furniture, equipment and those washers and dryers!
Great explore! The bottom couple of floors flooded, that would explain all the damage. Thought the water line was cool.... did that sign really say no.food, drinks, or spit cups???? Lmao. Mattresses were wrapped to keep from getting stains from upper and lower bodily fluids (trying to keep it clean, as they were! Lol). Love the bench at 19:30. Amazing that someone called right as you were there, nice that you were there to answer the calls! I need a pot to pee in! Lol. Gave thumbs up as always!
JPVideos Still watching and adding to my comments.... you caught me in mid action. Lol. From my training, if there’s an infestation, they wrap and throw the mattresses and box springs away. They are not allowed to keep them do to chemicals used.... are harmful to humans.... of course, looks like a lot of shortcuts may have been used at this place! Been trained but have never had a infestation. I would hope they were wrapped for other reasons, bedbug chemicals are bad!

And i will say i have been in social work for many yrs and some buildings are donated to us. The agencies try to renovate as much as possible through fundraisers and donations. But ive worked in buildings... non residential... where we dont have any air conditioning and the stairs dont feel safe. Thats how those of us who work in a field that many could never do are treated :( but the residential portions have always been up to code etc. and the files makes me very sad. But the state or whoever funded should be the ones in trouble not getting those files.
I’m a certified nurse aide. I would love to own a care center. This place was kind of like a dream for me. My hesitation to make my dream come true is the government. Their regulations make this type of thing unprofitable from the get-go.
GREAT video, JP and Mike, and thank you for the time you took taking us through this massive place, and thank you for sharing the fascinating history of this place. My favorite floor was the pink and blue floor, I think it was the 3rd floor. I can picture this being a beautiful building when it was intact, and loved the ornate windows that you awesomely shared with us. I'm on to your next awesome video :o)
i really enjoy viewing abandoned places. I wish I was able to view them in person lol. I liked this video because I have always wanted to open like a halfway house or rehab. I enjoy helping people
Love that bench. Also the painted door. The Rock was great real talent there. So much left behind, will never know why. That vulcan stove is top of the line in commercial stoves . don't remember exact price but afew thousand, when we checked on them for the shop. About 7 years ago. Resteraunt supplies had them .just one of the places we looked at.
I really enjoy all of your videos! Thanks for sharing them. It is unbelievable what people leave behind that could be given to someone in need. It also makes me curious to what happened to the people that used to live in these places. Kind of sad. Each time you round a corner, I fear someone will be standing there. Please be careful!
If I had to guess last winter probably took out the plumbing in this place if the water was still on and the heat wasn't. Seems that way due to the upper floors being almost intact, which means the roof is probably solid, but each descending floor was worse from the water running everywhere. It doesn't take long for things to decay when you add water, I'm sure the mold ran rampant over the warm months. Great video as usual.
WOW...just WOW!!! The amazing bench, all the furniture and equipment... and attorney's would have a field day with all of the HIPA LAWS being broke.... awesome find!!!!

It has so many characteristics of schools built early 1900s...hardwood floors, the staircases. take down the newer drywall sections and it would be an amazing wide hallway with classes off the side. obviously they sectioned larger rooms into smaller rooms. the art room in the lower level and the gym remind me so much of a school I attended in elementary school. BEAUTIFUL
Hello JP and Mike! Another very interesting video! I'm glad you didn't run into anyone living there. I always fall for the telephone ringing! I feel sad for whoever had to leave their belongings at the building. If it was the elderly who needed assistance to move, it's too bad their personal belongings were not moved with them.
It’s a shame that people don’t invest money to renovate old buildings. The older buildings many times had such good bones and were built with such neat detail. They instead build new places with cheaper materials, and either leave old but decay or get demolished. I worked at a mineral springs (warm springs) hospital/rehab facility that was about to be abandoned or torn down due to asbestos. They built a new one somewhere else, but of course it doesn’t have the spring water where it is. Natural healing methods get replaced with medications that can cause other health problems. It’s all about money 😥
I think the patients made the art. We did when I was in a mental hospital. The meds were given through a dutch door. We had a similar common room set up with one TV . We were fed well with meals consisting of veal. I was in one of the $100k per stay places. I was 17 then. We had a swimming pool and a house keeping staff. Our duties were to keep sober.
