As a dominican, i can tell you non of that matters when the goverment is as corrupt as it is, the only thing holding them back from full on, is that most of the country's income comes from tourism, so they have to keep an external image.

@@Yerokaoshias an american I feel like all governments are pretty corrupt but when you come from a wealthier country it's easier to ignore the corruption. Here they keep the "bread and circuses" going

Thank you for covering this part of my country! Most people don’t know that we have a few of the oldest and first buildings of colonial times, including the first university in the Americas! The beaches are beautiful, but there’s so much more to our country; get out of resorts, walk in the city and talk to the people!

@@empowercarole11 That depends where you go. If you go to a very touristic fancy area, it will be expensive, but still less than what you would pay in the US, for example. Dominicans have two prices: one for locals and one for tourists. You can always negotiate the price; if you act too much like a tourist, you will get tourist price; you call their bluff, you may get local price lol

@@empowercarole11 I’m from DR too and I think that our government is too corrupt as they want to just show tourist what they only want you to see , and trust me , there are wonderful places , lovely people that will talk to you as another human being , not as there are others that will try to empathize with you just to get something from you. I hope that you have a great experience visiting our country and that you come back again.

Thank you for showing me the rest of DR! I stayed at Caribe Tropical Princess all inclusive in Punta Cana in 2012. I enjoyed it very much. 🍹 Made friends with people from Russia, France, Italy, Germany, UK, South America, USA,, Canada, all at the swim up bar in the pool. I was solo and thats the best place to meet fellow travellers, and pool aerobics, my kind of exercise 🐌. It was a blast! I've read that Bayahibe is where the Atlantic ocean meets the Caribbean Sea 🐬🐟🐠🐚🦀. Makes me think of all that crystal clear blue water! 😸. I hope to visit LA Romana one day.🦀🌺

When you go to Playa Del Rincon, there is a part of the beach with sargassum, but if you walk further, there is a part without it,

I live in USA for 30 years and there's are as many chapiadoras as Any country. Dominicans are happier han any citiy of the world with less. In USA and Europe there's only money but not our quality of life in terminal of stress of depression. We are happy with almost nothing.
