    George (and anyone else who wants to share), what do you use to clean your hoses? I'm having trouble finding a product that works (for 12/16mm and 16/22mm hoses). Also, blackwater biotope would be very cool...I love the idea of any biotope with "artistic sensibilities". For me. that's part of the essence of aquascaping: recreating a piece of nature in your living area that is both beautiful and peaceful to look at and also constantly teaches us lessons about nature.

    Hi George,
    I’d like to propose an idea for one of your next projects / video contents: Create an aquascape (with or without plants) for Oscar fishes. 🐟
    I guess that would be quite a challenge but certainly an interesting video to watch and follow up. Especially if you manage to create a tank with some plants or if you find any other way to create an "eye-appealing underwater world” that’s not gonna be destroyed by these fishes.
    Cheers!

      This confused me too. George always plugged Evolution Aqua and rimless tanks, and even helped develop theirs, almost pioneering that way. Now with so many scapers taking that forward, it’s like he’s gone full circle to closed tops whilst saying he still prefers open. To me it seems only because Oasé asked him to :/

    • @ericplunder2744
      @ericplunder2744 3 года назад

      @@DesignRobPearce I think he has been pretty open about his position regarding his preferences and has acknowledged that his sponsorship arrangements have an influence. But I believe him when he says he likes what you get from a closed tank as well.
      It seems his desire to have a discus aquarium and his sponsorship arrangements have come together well (you don't want to find a discus on the floor)

    • @DesignRobPearce
      @DesignRobPearce 3 года назад +1

      @@ericplunder2744 possibly so. He's been open, in the same way he says he prefers the old styles still yet converted to all Oase close tops. I'd get it if he had one for Discuss, regardless. It's the influence and passion I am talking about to jack in all his old setups so quickly of open tops/out of the water/glassware/Amano/ADA style when he practically pioneered and pushed this way of aquascaping just somehow doesn't feel like the George I've followed for so many years. Nothing wrong with it and big respect for the guy if that's what he wants, and for everything he's done for the hobby. Not the kind of aquscaping methods or principles he's taught and made me love all these years. I'm sure many others will disagree, and that's great!

      @williammcdowell6257 3 года назад +1

      You are lucky, mine leaked within three months, replaced seal, solved issue for six months, now leaking again, PTFE tape or not. My cheap Chinese filter with handy UV tube has replaced my £200 plus Oase Biomaster. The Chinese filter has had two new taps and a couple of new UV tubes over a ten year period, paying big money doesn't also help when it comes to kit. And, I am not sure about heaters in an external, if the prefilter nearly blocks, circulation is very slow to adequately heat a tank, the heater stat just keeps clicking on and off inside the cannister. Good luck.

    • @millehdk
      @millehdk 3 года назад

      @@williammcdowell6257 Sounds pretty horrible indeed. I guess I might try a different brand next time. And totally get the whole heaters issue, but I really like a nice clean tank without visible equipment, which I guess the background filter kinda solves for me as well.

    What do you think of under gravel filters? Really like your tanks. Look great. I had a tropical fish store in Liverpool, England. called Aqua Hobby Ltd. Ordered 12 boxes of fish from Grace Aquarium, in Bangkok. Don't know if they are still in business. Hard to find a good supplier that will treat you right. Never used CO2. When I came to U.K. They only had tanks made from angle iron. I had all my tanks made of stainless steel. Cost me a buddle. Keep up the good work. A well-planted tank is worth the effort.

    Do you think it would be possible to lower the hight/ thickness of the aquarium Gallerie/lid. They are still very high, but led would make it possible to have super thin galleries (5cm or less) . With transparent too covers it would provide much of the ambiance and esthetic of open tanks but with the advantages of closed ones :)

    Is the 20 gallon not a bit undersized to let you make the "street strategy" for a Dutch style tank actually work? Also, surely the lighting is too low for red plants in your smaller tank? The 30 gallon tank has more length and more light, perhaps ideal for a Dutch mini-scape.
    George, do let us know where you get you big CO2 bottles from and more usefully who you get to fill them.
    By the way black works really well with green plants, old gardener's trick to paint an ugly wall black and then plant green foliage.
    In my experience a black background also reduces algae growth in middle and lower tiers of the tank and creates a great aesthetic ref. the fish, and, seems to put jittery fish at greater ease.
    Much appreciated video and keep talking to the dog, they hardly understand but love it anyway!

    I recently started using tropica advanced. I found i have to double dose to get the pearling i was getting with my previous fert. But I've also noticed the growth although slower looks healthier in some way.

    I’ve swapped from a lidded tank to a rimless one as I prefer the look. I get all the arguments for a rimmed tank but just don’t like the look as much when it’s a true aqua scape

    Thanks for the in depth look at these two beautiful aquariums. The lidded aquariums and the matte black finish reminds me of what got me into the hobby all those years ago. It's a particular look that is growing less common because of the Low iron rimless tank trend we see today.

    Hey George, coincidentally I’m running the exact same set up to you for the white styleline 75 and the filtosmart thermo, so your vids have been really helpful. My third tank now but my first invested aquascape. Can’t decide on how much to invest on a co2 system though

    These videos are always so tranquil, and the commentary matching it is incredibly helpful. I had to get rid of my aquariums years ago because of my disability. Watching videos like these really allows me to enjoy a hobby I haven’t been able to be apart of for some time. I’m in the process of cycling a 20 gallon tall, hopeful it’s small but stable enough for my health to handle. I am excited to try and aquascape an aquarium again, as I was never able to finish my original ones.
