Scaped Nature... I love it when you take us back here. Still in love with those moss walls🤗😍 and of course what an amazing Aquarium in itself that you're featuring!. The picture on your videos is so crystal clear, it's just like we are there with you! The wood and that Gray Mountain Stone!😍 I love this layout! The hardscape Scaped Nature has there in their shop is just fantastic. Great tips on the colors of everything matching with the stone, substrate, and wood. I really like the lines and character of this Stone. I love when you mix all the different anubias together.💚 Another phenomenal low light layout! Wow, this turned out so pretty and it actually looked very doable for me. What I would give for a system like this!! I think some peacock gudgeons would be a beautiful addition in this tank.. I always wish I knew more about species of fish to give you suggestions! There's just so much to learn! I hope you're having an amazing week. Thank you so much for sharing! A big "Cheerio" back to you, have a very blessed day! 🙏🌿🐟🌱💚
Just thought id comment and say i tried out that exact black paint as soon as you showed it on video and painted mine. So much better than the black background layer i had which quickly came away after i installed it years ago leaving those reflective bubble behind. There are still some little bubbles under the paint in some areas though better than what it was before. Hopefully one day George i want you to scape my tank😊
Lovely scape, those Oase tanks are deep,I bet the intensity of those low energy lights only tickle the substrate,be amazed to see medium plants thrive without Co2....really interesting to catch up on the updates.
I would stock Cherry barbs! ....because I answer that everytime you ask "what species of fish should I stock in here?"..... because, because, that is the fish that I always want to see. They are hardy, beautiful, common, affordable and they can help people get into aquascaping from a beginners level. Thank you for sharing! Cheeri-O! - Little Bobby
Looks good but I personally do not like the black background, I guess it's a matter of taste. Great to see you make a low maintenance aquarium and affordable for most people.
Looking good, having a rescape of my 120 today with some oak deadwood I’ve been soaking in the back garden, and some I pulled from a river in Derbyshire👍 also first time trying monando underneath the tropica soil for extra height and buffering.
I recently set up a 6 gal cube and also painted the back black. I used plasti-dip as it can be peeled off fairly easily if you later change your mind. One drawback to using paint vs film, is that suction cups won’t work. I didn’t think this would be an issue as I believed most aquarium equipment and accessories utilizing suction cups would be internal. As it turns out, the canister filter I selected issues external suction cups for the intake and return hose rim brackets. The CO2 system I selected uses external suction cups as well. It would have looked cleaner mounted on the back glass, but because of the paint, I’ve had to side mount the bubble counter.
I agree. I would never paint an aquarium glass - too permanent - difficult to remove/change. I would use some sort of cover the desired colour - easy to change, modify or remove.
i've had good succes by blasting my aquarium with co2 during the the root growth stage and then slowly reducing the co2 later and completely removing it. It makes for quite hardy plants that transition into slow growers once the co2 is removed. helped me prevent a lot of the startup problems a non-co2 tank can have with a heavily fertilized planted substrate.
What a great video, inspirational. The dojo is a brilliant idea. The only thing I didn’t like was the filter. Stick a nice Biomaster in the cabinet underneath. Like I say, inspirational. Thanks!
Thank you for this ! Seriously needed this guide as I'm about to setup a 20g fish tank low tech. Was hoping to read your new book coming out wish it came out sooner!
Lovely scape, congratulations! I really like low-tech setups with slow-growing plants, as they give you little work and long-lasting pleasure! In my opinion, this would be a great scape for about fifteen Poropanchax normani and three pairs of Chromaphyosemion bitaeniatum or alike... Kind regards from Cologne Ole
Hey George! Incredible Video! A humble request from a beginner aquascaper, could you please make an aquascape setup, low energy/non CO2, that would work in an heavily stocked tank with angels, gouramis, tetra, rosy and tinfoil barbs ? Cheers!
Spooky. Just happened across your video today and I'm taking delivery of the Styleline 125 on Friday and looking for plant suggestions. Thanks for the inspiration!
Always a pleasure to watch you do what you love! Amazing job and making something so simple look so beautiful! Yes I agree with some type of African species. Thanks for the video George!
Try coloured vinyl instead of paint, the stuff they wrap cars with, quicker to apply, no streaks, and comes in an array of colours if you don't want black.
Great layout and excellent hardscape materials. I’m very pleased with these Oase aquariums, the only limitation in my opinion are the internal filters which frankly, in my experience, are poorly designed in terms of both internal and external circulation. I removed it and I’m much happier with a Biomaster external filter. Of course, this also removes another visual distraction. Thanks again.
I also have the famous George Farmer colander ;-) Mine is just white :-) Fantastic scape George. I love your nature aquariums! You are a huge inspiration to me and I use all your advice in my own aquariums :-) Cheers mate!
Another excellent video George! I've been contemplating on changing to a hooded tank recently. Bought 10 zebra danios recently and after a day 4 had jumped out! Had the same thing happen with harliquin rasboras too. 10 jumpers in 4 weeks. 😢
Great ideas - am keen to set up a low tech tank/low light for some crypts I have, soon. My main plant tank is hi-tech, hi illumination - the works. A TIP ABOUT AQUARIUM SAND. The most beautiful sand I ever had in an aquarium was some I sourced myself. Dug up some garden soil out of my backyard - I lived in a sandstone area where the soil is about 1/3 sand. The garden was 60+ years old, circa 1920's - not new soil by any means. Washed this soil about 20 times and the sand that was left over in the bucket was a gorgeous golden brown - the colour of sandstone basically. Gardening Soil is usually about 1/3 sand, the rest is vegetable matter and wood bits. The woody bits wash out first, then the black vegetable matter. The type of sand you get, the colour will depend on your local area and the source of soil, if you buy it. Personally I would just grab a bucket and take some from a friend if you don't have a garden. Words cannot describe how beatiful that golden-brown sand looked in a tank - better than any I have ever seen elsewhere.
Personally I would have painted the back glass Grey, or put a Grey cover on it. Grey-Blue Aquamarine seems to be the visuals you get underwater in fresh water if you look at videos on utube. I guess the 'blue' look is because of the fact that blue light travels further than the rest of the spectrum, but they tend to look grey.
An aquarium background that transitions and gardually lightens (pale grey at top, darker towards the base - a subtle transition) as it reaches the top would be the ultimate background, imo, to imitate the natural.
Recommend the EHEIM Skimmer for this tank, the one that just removes the film at the top of an aquarium. I only run mine to clean the surface - they are cheap and cheerful. Best aquarium product I have seen in a long time.
Is it possible to remove the black film at the bottom of the tanks front? It's not possible to see the bottom of the tank from normal viewing point. That 's not nice.
When looking at a low tech tank, is it the kalven of the light or that it is has the full spectrum of colours (I think that’s what it is when it’s called RGB lights) that will help red or pink plants develop that bright colour??
Hey George, thank you so much for the video! Oase Styline is really beautiful! Do the LED Lamps startle the fish, because the switch suddenly on or off? They cannot be dimmed, right? The Oase Controller is pretty expansive. :(
Is it possible to plant anubias directly into rhe soil and not in amy stone or driftwood ? Ofcourse just submerging the roots and keeping th rhizome well outside th soil 2. Also if you list down all possible plant that can be planted in a low tech non co2 set up Thnks
Thanks for the video George. I would like to ask if you have ever used or have any thoughts about using a red tail shark in a planted aquascape. I had one as a kid and im thinking it would look great in my aquascaper 900.
Hi all, I am planning to get me this aquarium for my new house. I have seen a lot of great ideas for aquascaping the tank already, but could use some tips for colorful fish I should buy.
I had black background and black sand real pretty but my bronze corydoris, apistogrammas and millennium rainbows all turned very dark over time. Took the black off the background and color came back.
Hi George, love your channel. QUESTION: I live in Arizona USA which has LOTS of SUN. I am thinking of installing skylights into my roof/ceiling over a aquascape. However, I think natural sunlight might benefit filamentous algae more than the plants. LED lights might be easier to maintain my aquascape for algae. Do you think using LED over natural light is preferred??
I'm not George, and I live in Belgium. I suppose you also have cloudy / shorter/ longer /days, which would result in fluctuating ph-values, but it should be possible with a decent Ph-controller and algae eating fish. Maybe you could consider putting tropical plants above / behind the tank to filter the light.
Great scape and i am amazed how beautiful u made it.. Also just a question.. Please tell if i include some Rotala in low tech aquarium.. Like rotala hra, rotala veitnam or rotala indica.. Will they do well without co2..
Hello George. I am wondering if you’ve ever setup a planted aquarium for yourself or a client that had no livestock at all? I’ve been looking for information about this but not having much luck.
Pre ordered a copy of your new book George looking forward to November now. Great scape as always and such an inspiration. Any tips on how to stop my Cherry shrimp population from expanding 😂😂
I've heard lots of good things about Oase over the past year, but why have they decided to use light grey and blue on all their products? Anything inside the tank just looks an eyesore. Surely a black range for internal filters and pumps would be much better
I've always placed rocks etc straight onto the glass and I've never had a problem.Of course you have to be reasonably careful in the placement,so no dropping the hardscape into the tank. Once you've added the sand or gravel it holds everything in place and the possibility of damage to the glass base is,in my experience, impossible. I have kept every type of setup from goldfish to marines and I've never had a disaster and I've kept fish since 1959 so I'm quite experienced.
That is what I was thinking. In the US I just bought a group of plants to start my 30 gallon gallon and paid about $52.00. Unfortunately there will be only 8 total plants!

Great video. Nice editing!
Probably won't get a reply but whens the discus tank coming George ? Really looking forward to it 😀
First/pre hardscape is much better
@George Farmer Mountain stones are usually covered, yes covered with plants! Sense that's the scenario why not use cheap river stone?
i'm very glad to witness your experiences and correct ideas of aquascaping...lovely to be in your channel.
Please do a follow up on this scape Sir George as I am
very interested on how Ludwigia repens 'Rubin' will turn
out without CO2 and under low light.
Have missed these step by step videos. Love watching you create new aquascapes. Great video
The Sand and Stones Looks Awesome.
The Scape too.
A Great Scape.

I mixed sand in with the black paint before painting the back of my 29 gallon. Gave it a nice textured look.
The best 30gallon tank scape I’ve seen so far THANK YOU!! for the advise😁
Just thought id comment and say i tried out that exact black paint as soon as you showed it on video and painted mine. It would be very interesting to see an update of this tank.

Best way to wake up, coffee and George scaping 💚
The tank came out awesome. Always enjoy watching for inspiration and ideas.

I like you style dude.. advance with detail on description👌
this is beautiful!
Hope to see more vid on low tech / low energy tank setup and also the progress of the tanks
Love the scape and the rock composition 👌

That small details we missed out is really important, i never thought painting the back can be inconvenience too

Couple of black dwarf rams would love it in there , be nice to see just how well the plants get on with the basic system provided
Thank you for this ! Seriously needed this guide as I'm about to setup a 20g fish tank low tech. Was hoping to read your new book coming out wish it came out sooner!
Can't wait for the updates on this one!

i've never clicked on a video faster.
Omg look at that green wall! So awesome!
Looks very cool. You inspired me how to scape next tank...
I almost never think this, but I think pea puffers would be great!
Hey George!
Incredible Video! A humble request from a beginner aquascaper, could you please make an aquascape setup, low energy/non CO2, that would work in an heavily stocked tank with angels, gouramis, tetra, rosy and tinfoil barbs ?
Cheers!
I'd be tempted to stock Poropanchax Normani in there - lovely outgoing species and matches the african plant theme.
A group of Brycinus longipinnis would look quite nice in the tank, not distract too much from the bold hardscape.
Lovely video. I’m really considering painting the back of my tank black 🤔
Instead of painting it, just use advertise sticker
I wish I'd done mine. However, move 300+kg will be a bit tricky now 🦐❌
@@joshuadehaf9917 Well, I'm going to replace this tank eventually anyway because it has a black plastic frame and some scratches.
@@shrimperlincs3395 Ha yeah the problem is moving the tank, but I can just do it during a big water change! (it's a 30 gallon)
i just use black window vynyl :)
Outstanding as always George
Spooky. Just happened across your video today and I'm taking delivery of the Styleline 125 on Friday and looking for plant suggestions. Thanks for the inspiration!
Like this scape a lot and nice tank too
A very nice aquarium👍🔥. Greetings from Poland😊

Perfect! I have a 32 low tech tank I need to rescape!
Beautiful scape. Go for colourful danios with colourful shrimps

Great aquarium and scape. But do the LED tubes not hang too low? Do they not get in touch with water?
Hi George. That is really nice and serene. Ever seen the Micropanchax? Pearly White with blue streaks. From Africa. Original. Take care xx
All your work is very nice... I would like you to give the option on your subtitle channel in Spanish... Thank you
Another excellent video George! I've been contemplating on changing to a hooded tank recently. Bought 10 zebra danios recently and after a day 4 had jumped out! Had the same thing happen with harliquin rasboras too. 10 jumpers in 4 weeks. 😢
Looks great George, I'd put some rare Apisto's in there!
They would be so pretty!!🐟👍😍
Love the work, keep them coming, but please stop providing distractions when I should really be getting on with uni work

Will these Oase aquariums ever make it to the U.S.?
@georgefarmer Hello. Still learning about plants but doing well...What would you reccomend for a carpeting plant that would not require co2? Ty
Lamen question. Where do fish get their air from? Is it just plants or this filtration system also inserts air into water? Cheers..
Is the Oase BioPlus 200 Thermo the right filter for young and mature shrimp?

Rotundifolia is the easiest one and will grow under low tech circumstances, but will definitely look much better in a high tech tank.

Do u lay the hardscape straight on the glass? Wouldnt it break.
Can someone answer this?
I've always placed rocks etc straight onto the glass and I've never had a problem.Of course you have to be reasonably careful in the placement,so no dropping the hardscape into the tank.

These tanks are often 10mm thick. It can take a lot of weight. George does this all the time. 👍🏻
A school of serpae tetras
