Would love to see if that S&S DCR can maintain rail on some S&S 30% overs at max effort, and not induce a P0087 (Low Rail Pressure) message. A little birdie told me that the DCR can flow more volume 🤫. Would LOVE to see a video on that! 💪💪😎

The painted steel outer bezel begins to rot after one year in Michigan winter. Ford has been making them the same way since forever. All they have to do is change the materials and they would last way longer. I made a turning tool out of 2.5” PVC pipe. Just cut a notch in the end and it grips the thing easily so you’re not making your fingers bleed.

I have two sets of factory wheels so I can run summer and winter tires. During the months the roads are salted I use the extra set of rear center caps on the front hubs. It keeps them surprisingly clean and dry. I do also turn the lockers every oil change/tire rotation (4000 mi).

I remember when Ford decided to make the disc brakes and hub sleeve a one piece design. You had no choice but to re-pack the hub with grease when you re-assembled. Pain, but I never had to replace a hub on my '89 Bronco. I never understood why Ford uses front hubs with inner workings made of pewter.

Just replaced my hubs a few months back because the passengers side was locked and could not unlock it. Plowing snow always makes the passengers side lock up. This is the second time I’ve replaced them in a 150k I just keep using the ford ones because of the vacuum style.

I prespray with wd-40, then use an adjustable wrench on the hub and put a long screw driver or long drift through the eye of the adjustable wrench and turn clockwise and counterclockwise. You may have to spray lubricant several times until it loosens. Worked for me.

I've had both my fronts replaced. The pass side just today. The bearing was going. I bought the truck new and have had to replace both front hub bearings three times now.
I see you using WD40 so that is something I'll start using.

I live in Vermont and have had this issue in my 2015 and 2018 now. The non vac hubs you can remove the outer ring from the hub knob by unclipping all the fingers on the inside of the hub that hold the gears that lock into the axle shaft. The center section will pop out and you can sand and grease that surface. The vacuum hubs cannot be disassembled the same fashion because there is an external snap mechanism that cannot be taken apart. Only fix is a new hub lockout.

My old ‘99 F250 hubs wouldn’t turn. I used channel lock pliers but I used the plastic covered handles instead of the jaws to keep from scratching them up. You could also use a pry bar in between the handles to get more leverage.

  • @loft306

Never had an issue with them inside where the splines mesh has always stayed completely lubricated, now outside with the plastic handle, I hit that with fluid film and it keeps them nice . I have never had an issue taking the locker off the truck, but then again I do that now and then. Edit: but then again I have a manual transfer case so I have to Lock them by hand.

I got an older 03 in the shop with a bad clicking in the passenger side hub. It's a f150 though. Funny thing, you can spin the axle while it's on the ground one way and hear it, going the opposite way it obviously stops how it's supposed to lol

I had one of the Ford hubs stolen about 20 years ago. I found some aftermarket replacements that were less expensive than Warn, but they are all steel, much better built than the originals, and they have been trouble free. I don’t recall the brand. The set was less expensive than a single OEM hub..
