"Fundamentals" = let's just skip out the part where we bind the pages to create the text block and the creation of the actual cover itself and just show the part about gluing the finished text block to the finished cover 😅
I can't speak to what he's using in this video, but common adhesives for that part of the process would be PVA, EVA, Wheat Paste and Methylcellulose. You can also mix one of the glues (PVA/EVA) with one of the pastes (Wheat Paste/Methylcellulose). DAS Bookbinding has a great video that goes in depth on adhesives used in the different stages of bookbinding.
Nice work. I have a dictionary where the cover came out. I had worked by just using adhesive to cover that from vertex and edge. May i know how did you made that black cover.I think that is the mistake i had done.
What type of glue would you recommend if I needed to repair the binding of a 8x10 book that is on very good quality heavy glossy paper and pictures on all 150 pages?
It looks like they are handmade. You have to cut 3 pieces of book board, the two covers that are 2 or 3mm bigger than the book body on all sides, minus the spine (top, bottom and outer edge). And 1 piece will be the size of the spine plus the same 2 or 3mm on top and bottom. And you need to glue these to the bookbinding fabric leaving a separation between them equal to the book board thickness. Anyway, there are many tutorials for this, you can search on yt or google. Best wishes
Any idea from where the covers come from ? Glue? Would be nice to attach info. Most of the time, no one shares such things. Is there a specific reason?
are you still working as a book binder maker? I'm looking for a book to be made with 600 pages and for it to be my magical book of shadows any help would be appreciated tnk u Jo

What about SOBO® glue? Would that work? It dries flexible.
Muito lindo seu trabalho. Quantos milímetros você usou para a canaleta? 0,6 mm ou 0,8mm?
Poderia fazer um vídeo ensinando a fazer esse livro?
I love your technic! Can you tell me where you bought your book-press? Because I really need one for my bindery lab
that piece of shiz is from amazon and will fail. Best to make your own out of cutting boards. A real, solid book press is quite heavy and around $500
