Delhi 6 was ahead of it's time. AB is and will be one of the most versatile actor of his generation, waiting for his new projects patiently.

I think what really hurt him was the debut and stardom of hrithik Roshan. Hrithik blew any chance of abhishek becoming a large star. Hrithik was his contemporary and more suited for superstardom. What did not help was the fact that Hrithik could also act and was a more complete package. AB Jr should have taken a page out of Aamir khan and focused on alternative cinema and performance packed roles. He needs to just focus on the actor aspect and not care about box office.
"Maine bhaiya ko maar diya" the dialogue in Sarkar gave me chills, that scene was epic

I’ve always been a fan of abhishek bachchan I always thought he had his own style. Breathe into the shadows I think is his best performance.
His dialogue delivery is exceptional ....whereas there are many A list actors, who while speaking Hindi, sound very rehearsed.
Unpopular opinion : He was good at his Ott debuts like Breathe, Ludo, Dasvi even in Big Bull..... He is versatile (even in latest release Ghoomer), Imagine him as a relentless, brutal villian that gonna be a GameChanger for sure

Agreed. Abhishek, apart from Yuva, Bunty aur Babli, Guru, Ludo (maybe I am missing a few others), has not consistently played a convincing character as far as I am concerned. In most of his attempts it feels like he is "acting" (trying hard) and NOT getting a true moment in front of the film camera as the character (as he gets during his interviews where he is himself..Abhishek playing himself is convincing).
In that case the respect should also go for Arjun Kapoor! He is annice guy.

I still have Guru saved on my home computer and often visit his iconic speech and "damdar" scenes for some motivation of sorts, he truly was phenomenal in that movie. Underrated Actor.
Abhishek has grown into his craft. He was never main character (as in commercial hero) energy. But over the years he has been solid and found his own following outside the identity of his father. He did possess talent from the onset unlike the latest onslaught of children of stars and superstars. Abhishek also possesses a wealth of knowledge about filmmaking across Indian languages and I feel he is quite a cinephile. I am glad you picked up this topic. I want to highlight that in MPKDH with Hrithik and Kareena , Abhi was the only one who was tolerable. He excelled in capers like Bluffmaster, Bunty aur Babli and Dus and lets not forget Refugee. Refugee showed us Kareena Kapoor as a force (something I feel she rarely touches in modern age) but Abhi was perhaps hard done by expectations of his dad, and the unprecedented legendary debut of Hrithik Roshan. He has also proven his chops in Guru, Sarkar, Paa and YUva and so many more. And when compared to his peers he is miles ahead - his choices in the past 5 years is pure quality. Abhi is a character actor and I would love to see him and Shahid Kapoor in a movie together.

Abhishek has always been a mystery for me. We see him in all those movies you mentioned early in the video, and then he keeps surprising us periodically by Sarkar, Yuva, Guru, just prevents us from making a perception for him.
Right now, Abhishek is slowly getting back to playing well written characters in films that have good, if not great. Ludo and Mammarziyaan were too special ❤️

Unpopular Opinion: If you watch Dostana, you can see Abhishek Bachhan doing the maximum job in the entire screenplay.
With due respect, John and Priyanka are served as eye candy. But dialogue, screen presence and catalyst of the story was Abhishek's character and he executed it smoothly.
P.s. I have always had respect for him as an actor. You missed Raavan but his performance was also good in that movie.

One film of his which was not mentioned here and is one of my favourites is Bluffmaster, which had the potential of becoming a franchise as well.

Abhishek's performance in Ludo was superb IMHO. He held on his own in a film with ensemble cast. Especially the scene where he tries his best to get his daughter's attention and breaks down when he fails in doing that. Sad to see his downfall, when it appeared that sky was the limit after his performance in Guru.

Abhishek Bachchan is not the superstar type actor of blockbuster movies , he's more of a character actor and should have stuck with offbeat or artsy films only where he would have made a decent career. Chasing the stereotypical Bollywood hero relentlessly, costed him his career.

You're very right. But Jayaji quit films soon after Sholay, so the newer generation doesn't have much context.. Amitabh, however, became a megastar around the same time when Jayaji quit.. and continues to enthrall everyone with his craft, till date.
Jayaji is one of the greatest actresses of this country.. Koshish, Piya Ka Ghar, Mili, Guddi.. so many amazing performances! Thanks for calling her Jaya 'Bhaduri'.. that's the name we all remember in the titles of all those incredible films she did!
@shikhab2250 Jayaji has always been a big support for Amitabh ji. She did Zanjeer also because of him... Amitabh was going through a tough professional phase before that film. Zanjeer sold because of Jayaji's and Pran's names, who were established names.. and as soon as Zanjeer released, Amitabh became a superstar, and both Amit ji and Jaya ji got married. She also did Silsila because of Amitabh only.
Abhishek and hrithik were launched the same year. There was huge buzz over abi's launch and the buzz around knph was less, but gained huge buzz when the songs became a craze and people saw hrithik's charm, looks and his dance. Abhishek had nothing in comparison to hrithik, when every newcomer had those looks which everyone was looking for.
Forget the looks, he doesn't even care to work out, while the good looking ones are working hard on dance skills, working on their bodies etc.
Abhishek Bachchan is very underrated actor. And very underrated comedian too in my opinion. His comic timing is brilliant in some of his movies like Happy New year, Bol Bachchan, Dostana (my opinion only)

@SachiDias Prithviraj Kapoor was a theater thespian, not a movie superstar. He was a very respected and successful actor in the movies also.. but Raj Kapoor took that legacy to another level altogether. Post independence cinema was defined by Raj Kapoor, Dilip Kumar, and Dev Anand. The trio ruled the 50s and the 60s.. Raj Kapoor was one step ahead and was a filmmaker, writer, and an actor!
Hypothetically if he would've debuted as an outsider then there would have been less pressure but first few years would have been make it or break it.... he wouldn't have got these many chances as non nepo kid. From 2010 to 2018 was very dull phase for him and any non nepo kid wouldn't have got ott chances.

Abhishek has had many limitations. Every successful actor has a standout USP - Ajay Devgan's acting overshadows his below-average looks, Akshay, Ranveer have a terrific range, Ranbir can act with his eyes, Hritik looks and dances like god, Sunny had his dialogue delivery, even the likes of Suniel Shetty had muscles to show off.
Abhishek didn't have any standout feature in either of these departments (looks, acting, dancing, body), hence he could never excel. He could have at least worked on his acting/dancing/body, or experimented with his looks which he didn't do and his efforts always came across as lazy. What separates you a good to great actor is their performance even in a terrible film, in his case he did well when he had a good script, meaty role and a director at his disposal, but was miserable in others.
At least he could have worked on his body - look at John Abraham and him in Dostana, or even DJ bobby - he looked miles out of place compared to the two.
But good to see his career choices of late - he may not be able to churn 100 Cr blockbusters now with age catching up, but his recent movies will definitely give him respect as a sincere actor in the years to come.
I sort of agree with you. however, I have to say that compared to other star kids I like how he is very careful with his choices and how hard he's been trying to create his own place in the industry. I also think he's well aware of the pressure yet he's doing his best. The only problem here is that there are only a few directors who explore his true potential so well. For instance; Mani Ratnam. I remember Abhishek Bachchan saying this on the trailer launch of Raavana ' Mani Ratnam launches me repeatedly'.
His acting in big bull kept me engaged throughout its runtime. What a performance!

Unpopular opinion but I loved Dhoom 3. No doubt previous films were great but the third franchise is somehow overhated.
Well Abhishek and uday's have less screen time, where in previous titles everyone had equal screen time. Here, only Amir Amir AMIR. Jokes got outdated. Movie is entertaining but only during action scenes and songs. It doesn't have that dhoom vibe much. Only the "bande hai hum uske......" dialogue is memorable as compared to previous title which had good and memorable dialogues, which still feel fresh.
My only favorite song from Dhoom 3 is "Tu Hi Junoon" (I love mohit chauhan, missing him❤), Dhoom tap is good but not on the level of Dhoom again(which is stunning and magical, both audio and visually).
I miss the days when Dhoom and yrf movies used to air on Sony Entertainment Television pre-2016 and even on Sony Max, but sadly stopped😢
I think Abhishek was a little ahead of his time...the kind of natural acting he does, no doubt he'd have been a hit actor if he was launched in today's time...90's/2000's bollywood script and acting was very different...this applies to some other actors as well like Tabu for example...

AB is an exceptional actor - Guru was stellar. He needs the right script and right setting but he is very talented. Underrated for sure.
He has been a diligent actor ! But i feel he somehow got sidelined due to his stiff body language and he has been unncessarily compared to his father. He needs to keep on reinventing himself and prove again and again that hes here to stay! And he does lack commercial viablity as well though!
He spent the majority of his career following the typical Bollywood hero path and roles. The problem is he is not good looking or attractive enough to lead rom coms. And he didn't have the charm to make up for it. Yes, he is tall but he never properly groomed himself. Do you need looks to be a good actor? Absolutely not. But you need good looks and charm to be a conventional Bollywood male lead. Had he chosen different roles he may have been more successful!
His dad for example, Amitabh Bachchan, did not have the same aesthetics as shammi or Shashi Kapoor, or Rajesh khanna, or dev Anand. So he started playing the "angry young man" roles and the rest is history. Eventually Amitabh branched off in different areas but his start was just right.
He is one of the most versatile actor. He can change his look and play almost any character with his versatile looks. That’s what an artist must be able to do. Financial success in a movie doesn’t completely mean that an actor is really good.
This is where i feel ranbir is special . With so much of pressure of carrying kapoor legacy forward. The man has delivered and how!!
Delhi 6 will always be in my top 10 Bollywood Good Feel movies. He is a complete package, still missing that Star persona. And this is where he is lacking. I don't know if he has offered off roles in the past, but the fact is that he needs to challenge himself.

The more I watched your video the more I remembered that Abhishek has done more solid work than most of the actors of the past 15 -20 years.
Jammy are you up for a re-watch for a Tera Jadoo Chal Gaya. The music is still perfection. And a comparison review of Ravaan and Raavana from Mani Sir. This is for me the greatest interpretation of the Ramayan to due on screen.

Raavan for me is one of his best. Also, love the movie. He was just on another level. Him, Aishwarya and Vikram, couldn't ask for better cast. Still don't understand why it bombed so badly. It's one of the first movies i showed my frnds in college and they all loved it and would watch again.

@@kashutosh9132 I never thought of Abhishek as hero or Vikram as a villain in it. It's a story inspired by Ramayana. Was never portrayed as it is straight up Ramayanam like Adipurush did. And if one cannot enjoy a movie without bringing religion or politics into it, I feel we will be missing out on many things.

No problem if it had told the same story without having those names but it was marketed as ramayan adaptation of sorts.
People need to realise that not all great actors are stars and not all stars are great actors. Abhishek is a great actor but is not destined to be a star and that is fine. We still love him.
I think for me it was Bluffmaster as his first Solo impactful movie, what a year it was for him 2005, all movies made business at the box office.
Abhishek Bachan is appreciated by those who truly care about the performance and not the lineage, and he has a certain mature quality to him that's really appealing and praiseworthy. Sunny Deol might be the most successful son of a big star dharamji was a still a giving hits as a lead when he debuted and yes he was a huge star and same goes for sanjay dutt his father was a huge star too and same goes for his mother as well and he was a literal superstar with many hits both of them and had mega blockbusters literally their box office in their era of 80s and early 90s matches or is even better than the big 5 of 90s and also wanna shout out starkid akshay khanna who is also having a great run in character roles.
He has given sincere and mature performances and has shown decent range in his roles. He is massively underrated

I don't find him good always but the Sarkar, B&B, Bluffmaster phase was terrific...perhaps he can be better when he opens up more in acting as well as speak English without that accent he never had in his early career.

Mammootty’s son Dulquer, Mohanlal’s son Pranav, and Amitabh’s son Abhishek share one thing in common-they don't exude the same alpha male charisma and towering screen presence that their fathers did. Despite having some hits, they seem to play in the shadows of their legendary dads and come across as man-children.
Dulquer is more successful than any actors son. He's also a good actor, comparing him with abhishek and pranav is like comparing apples and oranges. Pranav despite being mohanlal's son cannot get the same opportunities. There lies the difference in malayalam cinema and bollywood, talent will triumph over priveleges. Pranav is also low key that he spent time backpacking instead of focusing on films, his minimalistic approach in this day and age is not equivalent to abhishek or any bollywood star kid's constant attention on social media and interviews. Even when there's nothing for bollywood star kids to do they're still shoved down audience throats to be accepted. Dulquer never carries Mammootty's burden and legacy because it's about filmmakers doing good films not about x,y,z starkids getting launched and doing movies for namesake just because of star kid.

I really love his acting.... I have watched most of his movies even the flop ones and really loved each performance.... I still remember when KNPH and Refugee released everyone was in awe of Hrithik but Abhishek went unnoticed by the majority...
