Best thing of the show is, Graham never interrupt guests.
I mean, this is Morgan Freeman and Michael Caine, both legendary actors. You cannot interrupted these legends when they're talking
If there was Jimmy kimmel or Jimmy fallon he wouldnt let them finish 1 sentence...
@@JCech40 agreed
@@JCech40 or Howard Stern
That's why his show is the best
Michael Caine and his stories. Name-dropping legends like their pennies.
they're*
otherwise it sounds like legends are fond of low denomination currency
They're a dime a dozen for him
Ronin Socrates I take this as a Alfred pennywerth reference
Yes
I thought this was the same episode in which he told his John Wayne story but no, he was just wearing the same outfit in both.
When two great men talk you listen don't interrupt them.
I'll do what I want mate.
@@evotme9995 soz ard
damn straight
Especially when they are two of the world's gentlemen in every sense of the word.
Sheila......Sheila ki Jawani
Graham Norton on his own is better than every host in the US
I agree and I live in the U.S. Love you tube.
Conan's better imo
Trevor's Noah good
legit
He parks any ego and makes it about the 'guest'and 'fun'. He's the best there is or was.
Jack desperately trying to get a joke in for 3 minutes straight while crumbling under the weight of legends.
He’s just a boy competing with giants.
Fortunately,he's still got plenty of time to catch up to them
Came here to say this, such an arrogant unfunny person. Constantly trying to grab the limelight from two legends
@@Swinhoegaming ya it was a stupid joke and I saw it coming from miles away. otherwise most of his remarks are pretty funny. lively and joyful guy overall except in this clip -_-
I wouldn't say desperate. He starts making the joke, gets interrupted (not rudely, just happens sometimes), and he doesn't try to fight back to get it in, he realises that Caine's starting a new part of the story and doesn't want to barge in so he waits until it's free to comment
Fox and Alfred after Bruce leaves Gotham
😂😂😂😂
😂😂👍😍😍😍
well said!!!
Hahaha
😂😂
1:24 R.I.P Jack Whitehall’s joke.
he ended up saving the joke and using it at the end haha, not bad
The Burger King Why do we have to let the old guys talk first?
'cause they wont hear you anyway so might as well let 'em finish. XD
PEZ999 And it ended up being much funnier than if he’d said it the first time IMO!
Lol
"Marlene Dietrich told me that on Liza Minelli's birthday party."
Man, imagine to be even able to SAY THAT. This man is living acting history. 🤯
I hope the man sits down and writes his life story. It's a book I'd read.
my friend, he did already, more than one time, just google it@@dross2172
My jaw just dropped when he said that...
Beyond the fact that Graham Norton is a consummate host, the prime reason his show is so successful is the couch of camaraderie. Whereas American TV talk shows feature guests for 5.4 minutes with a host, Graham goes for the spontaneity created with multiple guests. It's like a lively cocktail party with an appreciative audience.
The Hosts hog the limelight in american ones
im pretty sure the 'few' drinks before the show help too! lubrication for the mind!
back in the 70's and 80's many talks did the multiple guest for a while but sadly that was only daytime talk shows. the comcept slowly phased during the late 90's when every talk show was doing BS Trash talk shows like Springer, Bay, Lake, Povit, and etc. Opreh switch to one on one style during the last 15 years of her show and everyone copy that style til today. late night was different ball game. Johnny Carson and Arsenio Hall plus Pat Sajack (yeah, Mr. wheel of fortune had a talk show for a while) did some multi guests interview on occasion.
Exactly. Very entertaining. After discovering Graham Norton years ago, I cannot stand The Tonight Show or any other US late shows...well I guess the Daily Show with Jon Stewart ws OK, but that was a different type of vibe there.
James Corden tried to do that but he was nowhere near the host Graham is.
The fact that he met Dietrich at all is amazing. He has stories to tell...
His John Wayne story is also very good (Alfie seems to have introduced him to a lot of famous people). His best story is possibly about Jaws IV and his house, though.
I think this might be the biggest actor name drop I've ever heard... (at least on the tv talk shows)
I love the detail in his story as well. It's like it happened to him yesterday. I love that! EDIT: I meant to add, that you can actually get a feel from the situation as he describes it , letting us come along to relive it. It's beautiful really.
Sinatra took to him too..
"And she started giving me a bollickin' about dressin'"
He actually didn't blink when he was showing "the trick"...I went back to check. What a master of the art
yes he did.
He was blinking the whole time
@@patmalloy3569 Not during the time he was showing the trick, you doofus. Obviously after he's shown it, there is no point in not blinking. He stops blinking when he is showing the trick and starts blinking again when he says "and that's the trick".
@@barryroach1980 Clearly you must have blinked during the whole segment where he shows the trick or just need a new set of eyes. He blinked after he had showed the trick, when he says, "and that's the trick". If like Pat Malloy, your brain is not functional and holds the belief that Michael Cain was referring to the whole conversation when he says "I didn't blink the whole time that I was looking straight at you", then you might as well get a new brain alongside those new set of eyes.
You can tell Jack Whitehall was sort of nervous. Bless is soul haha.
And talentless.
I would be too,
He's studying 😉
@@bmarkyt132 i don't even know who this kid is lol
When faced with Alfie and the voice of God I'd be pissing my pants tbh 😂
Telling "I was at a birthday party for Liza Minnelli, and Marlene Dietrich...." They are on another level.... There are no one on theirs league now... And sadly they're not going to live forever
I always feel sad when I see my movie idols aging because it reminds me they're not immortal as I thought they were, and one day they'll be gone. So while they're here, enjoy them. Celebrate them. Cherish them. There is no-one from the generations after theirs who can touch their league. No-one. At all.
Locktwiste72 their movies are immortal
Locktwiste72 you’re so right. I’ve been a fan of Michael Caine since the sixties and seventies. He is a “movie star”. Not many in this day and age.
@FireStar10058 I hear you, but Luke Evans is one to watch. He started late on the big screen but has the Movie Star factor, that man can act.
When we loose these two actors it will be a very, very sad day. These two are absolute movie icons
I agree with everyone here saying Graham never interrupts and that's why he's such a good host compared to American talk shows. But I'll go even deeper, another reason is because he finds guests with similar energy levels or vibes and puts them all on a couch together. There are no arms of chairs acting as barriers between people, that is important, you suddenly feel closer to the people next to you. Not just two guests like you'd see in America either, he often has 4-5 guests onstage at once. This gives the feeling of a small party. With so many people onstage at once, Graham cleverly blends into the background as guests bounce stories off one another. It really works and I love this format. I wish we had this show in America. I watch as many clips as I can find here.
also he has a variety of different people
loved this analysis thank you!!
Excellent dissertation thank you.
And he's very knowledgeable and talented in the industry as well. It's like he always knows stuffs & what's going on with these guests...
There are plenty of American talk shows that don’t interrupt the guess and the also have multiple guest to.
If Morgan Freeman ever kissed my hand and said "later, darling" I would be absolutely complete.
Your knickers would be cushing wet 🌊
Morgan and Gemma’s interaction at 0:46... I would die 😻
Two masters
OKAY 😊
Sat opposite two nobodies.
Michael Caine can namedrop like no other. Man has met some legends. He is a legend himself too.
I love the fact he still says "gave me a bollocking" lol
Gemma Whelan just fangirling over Morgan Freeman is so cute
Acting classes with Morgan freeman and Michael Cain would be priceless. So much talent, experience, and wisdom!
My word, if you came out of those classes anything less than Oscar worthy you'd have to be an actual brick covered in skin. 🤯
I thought they're going to do something silly and call it a master technique. Did NOT expect them to be so... master-classy.
It is morgan freeman
British talk show hosts are brilliant because they know about basic courtesy. Although graham is very informal and hilarious, he knows when to cut and when not to interrupt. He's a brilliant master of social interactions, and that's what an amazing host is, not simply asking good questions.
That is probably the most well said comment. Like.. err.. ever.
Well said.
I think it is sweet that "Yara Greyjoy" is tucked right in the middle just content to listen and learn. Gemma Whelan is a wonderful actress in her own right so versatile and talented...
Two years late to watching this but thanks for that - I was wondering that eternal "Where do I know her from?" question :)
Feel the energy of the room when Michael Caine is telling his story. We’re all waiting for the next word like kids on Christmas for presents. Graham is also a master at feeling the tempo bc every American tv host would’ve interrupted and ruined the moment. He let the story play out like a director for a scene. Absolutely brilliant
Dang... this man met acting legends like Marlene Dietrich and John Wayne (as revealed in a later interview)... not a lot of people in Hollywood can say that anymore; Sir Michael truly is one of the last great gems we have left 😢
How casually he says that he met and talked to Marlene Dietrich... that’s just amazing!
it's really amazing how not once at any point did Graham interrupt them. why I love this talk show more than any other
Sir Michael Caine over 140 movies, The Battle of Britain, The Eagle has landed, The Desert Rats, Zulu, Education Rita, Alfie, Harry... list goes on
Michael Caine as Batman's Alfred was just wonderful ❤️
I LOVE how they went into teacher mode I WANT MORE OF THAT. i want interviews where people ask them like genuinely what they did to get into character and i wanna hear the craft behind it. all these technical things.
You could get your hands on his masterclass, or look for keynote speeches he might have delivered in the past. These are more likely to contain craft-related content than general press events.
@@spdewertton omg wonderful idea I will look those up
@@spdewertton I also am looking for great acting classes online don’t know if ur a fellow performer/actor and have any recommendations?
His autobiographies are fantastic for learning 'craft'. His books are really easy to read, and sink in to. Wonderfully written.
@@mor9820 Find a good book shop, and find his autobiographies. Good value. Wonderfully written.
I could listen to Michael Caine and Morgan Freeman ALL day! They're so fascinating!
0:01 turn on the captions lmao "my cocaine"
YESS!!!
lmao
If you look up and watch the full episode Michael actually talks about saying "my cocaine" as the best way to say his name so it's even funnier!
He told a story one time, I think it was on the Graham Norton Show, about when he was at a party or something and everybody was saying "Where's Michael Caine" and somebody approached him and asked if he was a drug dealer, because people were saying "where's my cocaine"
Ricky Collins - yeah - it was this episode. This is a clip from a previous season - they reposted to hype up the new episode with Michael that is airing.
Michael Caine is a LEGEND!
Zamin Zaoor s%
My heroin too
It's amazing, Graham just talk in the first 20 seconds, and he just listening to these legends talk about their knowledge in acting. I feel thankful for giving a chance to hear them finished talking about what they want to talk about.
Graham has the best talk show this day and age.
These two legends
One was a magician, one played god, one played the old guy, and then there is Michael Caine
No, My Cocaine!
They both were employed by Batman 😂
Michael played a magician in a movie with Hugh Jackman as well! It’s such an underrated movie
@@elizabethplunkett5450 "The Prestige"
the movie had Christian Bale and you chose to mention Jacked Man instead.....
Two legends and then Michael talked about another great legend. One word; WOW!!
I love how quiet and focused it gets while Michael Caine, it’s comforting.
These 2 men are positively captivating by themselves, no drama lines needed. Both are confident within themselves to be lucid, humorous, informative. But then I’m enamored of both and their skills acting.
Two acting gods on one couch.
Marlene Dietrich was an amazing actress! Her performance in one of my favourite movies, 'Witness for the Prosecution', was breathtaking!
Yes, I heard they were remaking it with Ben Affleck but that seems to have stalled. I just ordered her in Destry Rides Again with James Stewart on bluray.
Marlena Dietrich and Rita Hayworth or two of my favorites from 'that' era. Two of the greats.
I love how passionate Sir Micheal Caime talks about acting, also thank you Graham for not interrupting! TAKE NOTE KIMMEL!!
Michael Caine needs to write down all this stories. They are way to good to go with him one day. I just love him.
When Michael Caine speaks everyone listens ,no interruptions, could listen to him all day,
It's interesting to hear Michael Caine talking about only looking in one eye, the one closes to the camera. The first time I heard about it was while listening to the commentary for The Haunting (1963). Actor Richard Johnson (plays Dr Markway) talks about it.
Of course, now when ever I watch a movie and the actor/actress have their eyes going back and fourth, I find it distracting. One of those little things you can never forget or miss.
I'm pretty certain there is no other talk show on Earth right now where we can get such a beast of a story out of a 3 second question of the host. Graham is the real MVP on this one.
Almost 3 minutes of video and Graham speaks for less than 12 seconds. Imagine if it was an american talk show? How many times the annoying host and the irritating clapping audience would have interrupted them? I guess we wouldn't even know that Michael Caine met Marlene Dietrich.
Oh yeah, every eight words host inserts a joke about how witty the host is, who cares about the guests in a hosting show anyway. They're more like, "Look at me I'm funny, right" -shows. Norton's the only one I've stuck with.
I just watched the British boxer Anthony Joshua being interviewed on Conan here on RUclips and I swear, Conan spoke more than Joshua did.
Yup Jimmy Fallon does that
We do have that type of show in the UK. Jonathan Ross can't listen for a minute without saying something.
so right. amerikkkan talk shows are pretty moronic...
Two gods of the cinema teaching a lesson in front of a speechless audience. Pure gold.
Gotta respect Jack on his timing of when to talk. He's amazing
You mean when he wasn't trying and failing to interrupt?
@@domoreilly5147 exactly
Loved it! Two of my favorite actors.
I love these two old fellas, absolute legends!!!!
I always love seeing them two together
I love these two together
The other two guests looked terrified that Michael Caine and Morgan Freeman were talking to them 😂
2:34 "i talked to you without blinking the entire time" - blinks three times in the time he delivers that line.
But Marlene Dietrich!
I think he meant that he didn't blink his eyes in the first convo with Jack.
Priceless!
Such natural chemistry among those four entirely different characters on the sofa! What a gorgeous episode! The Graham Norton Show is just a different league.👍🏻
I started on GOT actors' compilation of guestings and from then has autoplayed on to every next Graham Norton clip. It's been four hours. I have no regrets.
Every conversation is gold. 👌
ok but i love how intensely morgan listens when michael was talking yknow its brilliant how amazing they both r but they r so eager to learn and listen
tehy r srsly wonderful in their work
2 legendary actors on the same couch
Two very awesome, classy men 😊 Love them.
Superb. two artistes extraordinaire, the elder recognising the younger for something he learnt from the younger. This is class.
I’m hooked on watching all of Graham Norton’s old interviews. Now with covid, it’s not the same. It’s aweful in fact. I wonder whether we can get it back to the way it was and such fantastic guests. It was the best.
Morgan! Michael Two Legends!
I love listening to ppl over 70 talk. They're so secure in who they are and chill AF!
These two guys can take any script, no matter how bad it is, and make it into something quite good.or even great. And that's true acting.
Even Jaws 4?

Love Micheal’s accent.
Its kind of adorable how Jack seizes up completely when Michael speaks to him

Both michael and morgan have such great voices thumbsup
I always liked Michael Caine. When I was just a young boy I remember some spy movies with him which I did not understand back then, but still I loved how cool he was in those movies.

I could listen to and watch these two all day long...
Graham Norton is so successful.. I think it's because hes never trying to outdo the guest like so many Other hosts. The shows truly are about the guest. Like a group of friends having a chat.
Between these two men, they must have all the god damned great stories
So much wisdom in one room
Two of the best actors ever.
When Sir Caine said "I'm talking to YOU!" with that tone, I suddently sat upright, straightening my back. And he wasn't even looking toward the camera...
That Marelene Deitrich story was awesome.
Truly one of the moment of all time
Two legends 💜
The prestige movie crossed my mind when Michael Caine said "that is the trick" 😁
Caine and Freeman .. both genius' of their generation.
