  • Patrice Lumumba was a Congolese independence leader and politician who served as the first Prime Minister of the independent Democratic Republic of the Congo (then known as Republic of the Congo) from June 24 to September 5, 1960.
In his thirties, Lumumba played a significant role in the transformation of his country from a colony of Belgium into an independent country where he was popular as a Pan-Africanist and an African nationalist, which made him lead his party; the Congolese National Movement party from 1958 until his brutal assassination in 1961. He was 35. #HistoryVille #PatriceLumumba

Not to mention in the face of his enemies, he had the chance to escape them and gather strength, but he decided to return because of his wife and daughter… this man has all of my respect.

The United States feels so entitled. Lumumba sought their help and turned him down. When he turns to the Soviets whom the US consider public enemy number one, they get enraged. What is their problem?

      His mistake?
Getting the Soviet Union involved when the United States & Belgium didn't want him to be in a leadership role no more

Shalom. This brother murder is a classic example of the societies that we interact with; these societies have gotten worse. The greed for resources drives injustices. This man was taken from his family and community; for only trying to liberate then land that is owned by his people. Normally, you see injustices on a local level but in this example you see how world powers can remove people or how they can restrict assistance; I think international forces where in his country to assist; but did not help Mulumba's situation. All over uranium deposits in the country. Truth Seekers, always remember, that the majority of the world has no truth...only politics.

@@emmettcarter9209 he dared to tell the people the truth. The funny thing is even to date they still continue. The Bible never lies but tell us the truth. Silver and gold will vanish away. God never intended for us to know about those resources. We can thank the fallen angels for that and their pomposity thinking they could do what god did and is still doing....smh

He was elected OK... But by how many votes ? What percentage of the population was allowed to vote ? The new independant country had no experience in organising elections, so I'm not really sure if his election has to be taken that serious. He was very popular in some parts of the country, and as a former beer vendor a good speaker with some charisma. Used to work in postal services, until he was put in prison for one or another theft. Surrounded by a number of very left wing Belgians, the ones that pushed him to hold his speech which irritated quite a lot the Belgian king. (the fact that someone also stole his ceremonial sword that day didn't really help to calm down the Belgian monarch) By being too radical and provocative, Lumumba managed to anger a lot of powerful people, not just in Belgium and the USA, but also within parts of tribal and artificially created Congo. He paid his radicalism and inexperience in the political game with his life. Don't think he really was a communist, rather a nationalist, a bit like with the Castro's. The angry reactions of the West also made the bearded brothers look at the USSR for help, only then they declared they were communists.
