- One week after Oakland International Airport approved adding "San Francisco Bay" to its name, San Francisco officials have sued, claiming the new name infringes on the trademark of San Francisco International Airport (SFO). Anne Makovec reports.

It is pathetic that Oakland is trying to sneak the name 'San Francisco' into the name or their airport. It is lame, but understandable. Who the heck would intentionally want to go to Oakland? Nice try, Oakland. It is a Fail, though.

It's going to be interesting because SFO is not officially in San Francisco. They should really call SFO the "Milbrae International Airport."
Makes no difference to me. I only use the IATA codes for SFO and OAK. These codes will never change.
SFO is in an unincorporated area of San Mateo County. But its location is not the determining factor.

No. 4,189,396) and the International Air Transport Association assigned airport code SFO together with SFO's Design Registration (Reg. No. 3,329,780). The City has held these registrations for such a long time that they have become ncontestable under federal law. That means they constitute conclusive evidence of the validity of the marks as well as the City’s exclusive rights to use the marks. San Francisco owns the land that SFO sits on. The mailing address for SFO is San Francisco , CA 94128. It does not have a Millbrae, CA address.
They think this will confuse the tourist huh? They are lucky to get the little bit of tourism as is, the crime & homeless in those cities what the tourists are afraid of.
