I remember on my first runthrough of this game, I thought that when I unlocked Blaze, I would be able to do all the special moves she can do in this boss fight. I was sorely disappointed when I learned that was not the case 😂
Its Blaze's debut game, so they're almost obligated to be Rivals. In context though, Blaze wants Sonic to leave so she can defeat the Eggmen and take care of some dimensional nonsense on her own. Sonic refused and then she attacks him.
Fun Fact: Sonic Actually Can Use Homing Attack In Sonic Rush Just By Jumping And Pressing The R Button It Makes Sonic Does An Air Dash When It's Near a Boss It Turns Into a Homing Attack

Favorite boss battle of all time for a sonic game.
man, i remember it took me something like 15 minutes to beat this battle, about 13 of those minutes dedicated to the mashing section.
