This isn't actually true, however. You can't *ALWAYS* start again. There will come a time - for you, too (as with all living human beings) that your time will be up. It will be too late for you, and no amount of "believing in yourself" will allow you to defy the laws of nature and allow you to "begin again" - when your time is up.

Married 34 yrs, then divorce at age 60. No home, few possessions( I left everything I owned except a double bed that was in the guest bedroom). I started over from scratch, and I mean scratch. I was lost completely until that one moment when Idecided to seek out others who were hurting more than I was. I dove in and began my slow transformation. Now, well now at the age of 69, soon to be 70, I am still here, thriving, sharing and still helping others in any way I can and I am carrying much less fear. Cancer levels us, and resets everything.

Unfortunately starting over often requires a sufficient amount of money. I’ve risen from the ashes a few times and I always needed bucks to do it in some way shape or form. At 58, I’m in another scary chapter of my life. Living on SSDI with zero friends and whatever backup resources I have are just about depleted. It’s an empty, pathetic life actually. I could sit on a bridge like you, and I have, the difference being you’re at peace and I’m worrying about how I’m going to make it.

But as I've gotten older (I'm currently 54), I've learned to show myself more compassion remembering that each of us makes mistakes throughout our lives. I also am learning more and more to stop worrying about how others view my choices. It's very easy to judge someone, more difficult to show them Grace and Compassion. First my career choice became a disappointment, so I left it along with being an employee; became an entrepreneur. Failed. During this time, the red flags in my marriage became a full blown reality. Every day became confusing, tense, only to get back to "normal" without warning. It became unbearable, then a honeymoon. During the unbearable the hope of a new honeymoon kept me going, during the new honeymoon the fear that it would end made it unbearable. At almost 50 and with nothing to my name, not even a full time job or a stable place to live I face divorce and a question. What now? Where do I go from here? The only sense of direction is to wonder, "what would the 80 year old version of me needs me to do so that he can have a better life?" I haven't mapped that route just yet, but I'm working on it Connie, I'm trying really hard to figure this out. Thank you for sharing, it helped tremendously and made me hope.

At 53 years old I had a very successful real estate career plus a thriving property management business. I was taking 3 to 5 vacations every year and had a very busy social calendar. In 2015 it all came crashing down after I sustained a TBI in a car crash. After months of rehabilitation, therapies, learning to walk again, I was still left with long term disabilities. I was devastated. Adapting to the new me and trying to make it work by following advice from others wasn't getting me anywhere. I was longing for peace and quiet so I followed my heart and bought 80 acres of forest and moved to the woods. The family did not approve for fear of my safety and my ability to look after myself. In all honesty, I had the same concerns but I had to try. In less than 2 weeks of moving in my family commented on how much better I seemed to be functioning. Here I am, two years in with my own private wilderness complete with brooks, gardens and an abundance of wildlife. I couldn't be happier. So I couldn't agree more with you Connie. Change is scary, but you should at least try. You could very well surprise yourself.
Don't tell me what I can't do, let me show you what I can do.

I’ll be 56 this year and I have started over too many times to count. My 30 year old daughter said to me one day, “No offense, but I hope to have it all figured out when I’m your age.” Well…When I got off the phone with her, I fell over laughing. Advice from wisdom? Don’t think you’ll ever have it all figured out. Don’t live in the past, create your future while you live in the moment but understand, it can all be gone in an instant. Don’t take life for granted. Don’t take life, nor yourself, too seriously. Laugh every chance you get. Love everyone, even those that are hard to love, they need it the most. Give yourself the most love of all. You cannot pour from an empty vessel. Love flows through you. Make sure your vessel is happy from the inside out. Be the Master of these 4 things your thoughts, your emotions, your passions (anger) and your stability.

This societal pressure that you must reach specific milestones by checking off certain boxes by a certain age for instance, career or family by mid thirties, is causing people anxiety and depression. We all come from different backgrounds and have different experiences. We all have our own path. Don't judge yourself by what others dictate your life should be like or how media shape or picture how a perfect life should be like.

Beautiful scenery & message. I agree, it's never too late. I'm 68 and recently moved to another state. It's a big transition. However, I know my future is what I make it and how I respond to the twists & turns of life. I'd rather have my wisdom than to be decades younger. I appreciate everyday life now. I was always striving when I was younger - never satisfied. No, I wouldn't exchange my age for youth.

Why i can’t connect with people on a deeper level? I am 36 and I am a friendly person and I love to live a simple and minimalistic life, reading, having a peaceful home and stress-free,hiking/walking in nature, drinking coffee or watching a great movie! All people around me looks like they run in life for more material things , bigger house , faster car, more parties and lots of travel ! Things that for me, don’t get me excited anymore.
I had a conversation with my friends and family and I told them that my main goal for next 5-10 years is to invest my money and time to build my own charity and help people in need and they looked weird at me and made fun of me and told me why I don’t want to travel more instead or have a bigger house😅I think this is because in life are to types of people - givers and takers.
In past 10 years I met thousands of new people in my life and try to connect but I couldn’t find one person to share the same interests as mine and because of this I focus more on myself and became a more independent person. Now I love my peaceful and balanced life, but once in a while I feel like I am out of this world! I have lots of lovely friends, but I tend to spend less time with them because we don’t share the same things and interests anymore like partying, drinking or going out often😊!
I know that I am an introvert and alone and quiet time is heaven for me😉
From 8 billion people I can’t find one person to spend hours and have things to talk about or activities to share?
That is a billion-dollar question for the universe!😊
P.S: I started to volunteer more and involve in more charity programs for the next year maybe I will found my people there❤

I think there are people who are volunteering to feed the homeless, read to kids, walk shelter dogs, etc. Those people who are actively making the world a better place are out there. They are just very busy! I recommend a mission trip because it is life-changing and the people are wonderful. You just haven't met your tribe yet.

At 65 many of my peers are entering the “retired” phase of life, not me I can’t afford it but I have reinvented myself anyhow. I have listed the 4 areas of my life that are of most important to me and primarily only live in the areas of interest and putting little focus on areas that are not in my control.
One of those target areas is accentuating my life long sports / my health. I consider the next decade as maybe the last opportunity my body may give me to ski as I have known, to ride MTB as I have known, and making the most of this 4th quarter I have dropped 35lbs and committed myself to being the best I can be. The chips will fall as they will, but I choose to truly GO until I STOP.
I have been a Dad, an employee, an employer and my reinvention is the freedom I have sacrificed to now take.

I have to listen until I memorize, so I’d like to listen to something meaningful and valuable for me like this video. Also, your voice is wonderful and makes me want to imitate your pronunciation. What I would like to ask you to do is add English subtitles for English learners like me. There is a lot of English learning content with subtitles in other RUclips videos. But I don't feel like learning English from boring sentences like "Nothing can beat a cold beer after work".

    Thank you Connie,
It is a pleasure to hear from someone who has "lived" a few times, reassure others that there still is LIFE out there, even when you are facing an uncertainty in front of you.
I'm a "youthful" 64 years old, even though I feel about 20 years younger mentally. 😊
These past 3-4 years have been like riding a rollercoaster without a harness, as I've dealt with 2 toxic jobs in a row, the loss of my only sibling (my sister ) due to Pancreatic cancer along with the anxiety and stress about what it did to my mother, the isolation of the COVID lockdown, and non-stop financial instability.
All of this have taken a huge toll on my emotional, mental and physical health,
as well as my self-confidence and self-esteem!
I jokingly tell people I could write a book... of course most would think it's fiction, but it's not.
If ever there was someone looking to START OVER, it's me! 🤗
As I watched, one thing you mentioned, was taking "small steps", which is one piece of advice my former manager once told me... "baby step it until you can walk". Never forgot that.
I really want 2023 to be the year, I start LIVING again.
    Wish me luck! 🤗
