Not necessary to do anything with the airbag, you can remove actuator simply by removing radio and glove compartment. That’s how I did it and it was very simple.
There's been 8 actuators in my 2007 farm truck the last ones I've been putting in was dorman's last one last 6 weeks I'm definitely going to Ford thanks for your input on this usually the Ford ones lasted about a year-and-a-half on a climate control air lariat
Any ideas on why air blows out of top section when max ac , or vents selected but when switching to defrost or other selection the blend door moves ??? It’s like the cw and ccw is backwardd
The problem ur having is with the mode control system. Since its seems to be going reverse I suspect the selection switch is faulty. But you need to have it verified through diagnostics. To many items in that system to pin point one by symptom alone.
I do not know what it is called but have you experienced the housing that the white shaft goes into splines be stripped out. Is it a metal female fitting? Or is it always the actuator motor and shaft?
Make sure the air bag connector is connected properly. If so. Then you will need the Air Bag system checked for code(s) with a good scanner. (No generic OBDll reader will work here)
Exactly I gave replaced mine 10 time eventually getting straps and it stops working. I feel like there must be a position that u have to have it prior ro install so that it doesn't try turn past max hot or max cold.

Oh wow took a lot more off then I expected. I took out the radio and let the glove box hang open. Was able to get my hands in there no problem.
All talk no repair. I myself was wanting to get some visuals.

I removed my actuator but the white pin didn’t come out. How do you remove it or do you remove it from the new actuator
I'll be honest here. I did this a while ago. I can't remember. I'd hate to give you the wrong advice and you ruin the new actuator or the door.

Its always the actuator.... and the actuator will come with new shaft.
So it isn't the door that breaks. I saw that the 99 trucks door would break.

if the doors stick closed, could it cause the actuator gears to strip ?
Its possible. I've taken em apart, and all the gears are plastic.
