Another incredible video. You put in so much effort into the model kits, the maintenance bay, the poses, the video angles. Probably the best gunpla channel.
I miss the golden age of Gundam games :( I never have the passion to build Gunpla beautifully like this. But I always enjoyed watching badass looking Gunpla like this Thank you Gundam! 😂
This is a really nice looking version, I dig the chest vents especially. Overall? Better looking than the ver ka (with its wonky front skirts). The MG Mk II 2.0 is also from 2005 and doesn't have ball and socket legs, so this kit must've been just before then.
PS2 oh man I feel old. I must be the oldest Gundam model builder around. I grew up in the 70's so using a game system to date myself would be like the Wright brothers talking about their flying machine timeline when all that existed in their shop were bicycles. As always I enjoy your uploads. Keep up the good work.
My ps2, encounters in space, and a rg gp03 got me through some dark days in the middle of nowhere. Wasn't a fan of the series then, but that model and fame kept my mind occupied for a long time. Really liked this review, and the kit is amazing. Looking forward to the hi-nu.
Found this channel after watching Critical Drinker's 1 million subscriber celebration livestream! I don't know why I never heard of your gunpla channel years ago, you got some great content. I follow a lot of gundam content creators and now you got a new subscriber! Ps: keep up the good work on your other channel.
I got a recent reissue of this kit. Waiting for the right time to build it. Edit: I think the most recent MG Gramps that has a similar feel to this OYW ver is the Origin. It feels like a good mix of 3.0 and the OYW, with a bunch of extras
You've mentioned color layers / gradients in multiple videos. How about going over your color theory and blending / layering in a how to video. I'm a military Aircraft / AFV modeler who has a few Gundam and Macross models in the pile, so it would be helpful. I'm just used to pre shading / post shading for the most part. So, it would be interesting to see layered colors as a technique. BTW... found this from your main channel and love both. Thanks.
Ordered mine yesterday for a bit higher price , but that's ok 'cause I like the look of this kit. I don't really care about the articulation especially in the ball jointed hips, 'cause I barely pose my kits.😁
I've had my eye on this kit for many years (like at least 5), but never pulled the trigger because it was always $80+ USD, now it's even more. From what I've heard, they discontinued it as of this year. Probably won't come back in print ever. 😢
Gundam will never be as good as Grandpa Gundam rx-78 and his upgraded version RX-78-2 were one generation away from creating the GM's that is in Gundam as a whole
I go back and forth with Mr Surfacer 1000 primer. I've have had mixed results. Sometimes it is perfect; it adheres strong, with really nice, smooth coverage with great paint results over top, but I have noticed that there have been a couple of kits that had some chipping. I thought I wasn't using the correct thinner ratio, but after seeing your video, maybe it's something else. Perhaps it's the type of plastic? This would include age, type, ratio of plastic ingredients (including oils that can and cannot be removed), etc.. I also wonder if it could be the paint used over the primer? There are just so many variables to take into consideration. No wonder it takes me months to complete a kit.... and also why I have no less than 6 or 7 going at once. Tanks were easier, in some aspects. Although not always as fun. I am just starting an 80's Tamiya Tiger, with a RC conversion that I have been planning out for quite some time, now. There are kits you can buy to do this apparently, but free balling this bitch. Should come out nice.... or catch fire, burn, and melt. Good time, either way. Enjoyed the vid, as always.
Hey gundam have you ever considered doing a "budget" build where you use your skills to enhance cheap models. I just think it would be interesting to see what you could do with worse model.
You're so fucking right about the ps2 gundam games. American reviews of the time did nothing but rant about how they're bland with the backgrounds and yada yada yada. I loved playing through the Anime story via a video game. They just didn't get it.
You really predicted how many views this video would get

Words of wisdom.

God you're so underrated-

Pour one out for Zeonic Front, a game dedicated to making you feel like a mook piloting a grunt suit.
Ha, go play a Gundam psp rom and you will know true pain
Trojan Horse *PTSD*
I love hearing you talk about your addiction to plastic crack PapaGundam, Keep em Rocking dude!

You are the reason I have to much money sunk into gunpla sets and tools

The endless detail of your mech bay pleases me to no end
One of my favorite MG kits I picked up back in the day! The ps2 Gundams were a lot of fun to play!
Federation vs Zeon the goat
We love you gundam
Yo homie I'll admit I don't know Gundam I don't know about building this kind of s*** but you make it into an artistry so for that thank you

Origin is ugly though with that tiny head.
What a great job you have done with the kit. Started buying older MG to have fun customising and painting them
It's a popular RX-78-2 Gundam called Fedam and Okdam in Korea!👍👍
YEAH! Encounters in space was my jam!! Speak that truth Brutha! Hill I'll die on with you!
The one year wars ver. is my favorite MG of the grandaddy Gundam, articulation is not the best but I just like the design of it!!

This was my first mg in 2011 great looking kit love the paint job
Looks fantastic man! I love the weathering and detail work you've done and the pics are well done!
Really hoping this gets a reprint, cause I love the proportions and the colors.
I like this video, the MG origin, has big forearm that I don’t care for. This one is nicer looking
Engagement comment for the algorithm god.
I love that color of LED you used in the head
I agree!
THERE'S A GUNDAM DOWN HERE!
Yet another fine piece.
I wish I was into Gundam back then. I still have my PS2.
Of all the MG RX-78s we've gotten, this one is still my favorite. Such a cool redesign.
I had Zeonic Front for the PS2. For 11-12 year old me, that game was hard, lol.
I can't unsee the fact that each kneepad looks like an anxious cartoon turtle.
imo this particular model has the best looking head of any mg rx78 it's just sharp and tough looking without going full mean mug like the mk ii
Absolutely loved this review. This is my personal favorite version of the granddaddy gundam!
I, too, love Encounters in Space on PS2. FIGHT ME. lol

It still looks good for a Golden Oldie.
Great review. HAIL PAPPA G!
My beam saber also has a slight curve.
There's 10,000 views now, where's the unlocked posing features?
I didn't know Gundam was in the PS2 era!

Your profile is a crossbone Gundam it’s my favorite Gundam.😮
