Damn, I can't believe that the GM Sniper II, a mobile suit with less than a minute of screen time has more of a presence in gunpla than the antagonists machine in 0083.
I can, mostly because they'd be a lot cheaper to make. The GP02 is not only a unique design but massive, while the GM Sniper II is both simpler in design and can also be resold as other GM kits which largely share the same mould.
"We're in the middle of a battle here and you start giving speeches." "You're a soldier here, aren't you? If you wanna be more than just a grunt, you'd better learn to see the whole picture." "Uh. Yes, sir." "Ugh. I'm the enemy you idiot."

Do you plan on making more of these Gunpla history videos? I really love seeing the evolution of Bandai’s engineering chops through them taking multiple attempts at the same MS!
I agree that the RG line should complete the GP set. We have GP01 & GP01FB so we need 02, 03 and 04. They could even do what they did with the Flying Armor/G-Defensor set and release the Dendrobium Orchis by itself with some extra RG decals.
I actually visited the Toys r Us in New York City in 2004-6 and they had a Gunpla Section. There was a large gold plated GP-02 in a display case. Looked closer to PG scale as far as I could remember tho.
The BB Senshi is adorable. My local pusher has the GP01, Zephyrantes, GP02 and GP03 MG kits available... I've been eyeing that last one for a while, it looks sleek. I second the sentiment for an RG GP02 kit, it would be absolutely amazing and it's fair to say that the line could use some more antagonist mobile suits that aren't piloted by Char or a Char clone.
Turns out, there's a LOT of Char throughout all of Gundam UC. :p But yes, I third the motion for RG GP02, would be a nice beefy boi. Gato is easily in my top 5 characters. On that note: HG Neue Ziel when. [grabby hands]
Really hoping the Ver.Ka announcement means we'll be getting a Mastergrade GP-02 2.0 and a GP-01 2.0 but can you imagine if they went through with a Perfect Grade GP-02? I could put it next to my PG GP-01FB and the HG dendrobium (i really liked stardust memory designs from both Katoki and Kawamori)
Still feeling like the 0083 suits are going to be locked behind the Robot Spirits paywall if you want a higher quality version of these wonderful designs. Great video. Didn't realize how many GP02's came out!
Heads UP to your posts cauz it seems some 3rd party company make your wish come true on making a astonishing awesome badass looking MG 1/100 GP02 kit 2.0 which is very advance technology that Bandai can't do.
The machine that gave Gatto 8th highest kill count among all Gundam Pilots by sinking over 100 fed ships! Awesome video, looking forward to more like this!
The HGUC MLRS is my favorite of these, but man I would love to have the GP02 in RG to complete the collection. And an all new GP04 in 1/144 please as well, whether HGUC or RG as long as the engineering is up to current standards it would be amazing 🤩
In my school vr game the gp02 fazalis was a boss where you play as goalius you need to go after it do to the radioactive bff skill ( all radiation attacks affects and weapons heal you ) goalius got anoyed by that and went after the mobile suit and then smashed both the cockpit and the shield with the barbatos first and original mace weapon
My favorite is still the NG 1/144. It was one of the first model kits I fully painted and remember older brother kept it in his room to keep it safe. Thanks for the recollected memories.
they really should make a new bb senshi one, that ol' 2000 boy looks like a reject kirby character, as do many of the early bb senshi examples of bulky mobile suits, because most of the super deformed figures back then didn't have legs, just hips directly attached to feet
I didn't know I needed this, but it turns out this was very interesting to watch. Always coming up with random Gundam videos that end up interesting me. Thanks for the videos.
One reason why the NG 1/144 Gundam 0083 kits are crap is that Bandai wanted modelers to fork over more money for the B-Club upgrade kits. For an additional 5,000 or so yen, you can give the NG GP02A shoulder binders that have actual articulation.
@@zainiikhwan9405 Yep, only much worse on the wallet. Before the HGUC era, if you wanted a GM Sniper II, you had to buy a NG 1/144 GM Command and spend an extra 8,000 or so yen for the B-Club conversion parts. Prior to the P-Bandai era, B-Club was charging five figures for parts to convert the MG 1/100 GM Type C into a Powered GM. P-Bandai just makes some sought-after kits a little more accessible in price and ease of assembly.
I actually bought the original HG GP02 back in my younger teenage years coming out of elementary. It was the first kit I ever attempted to recolor using spray paint because even back then the color inaccuracy was very jarring to me. Spent a good couple of days in the garage getting a feel for how to spray paint the damn thing white, and then just filled in the rest of the colors with Gundam Markers. I no longer have it, and even back then I could tell it wasn't the best looking thing ever, but it did at least endear me to the GP02 design.
I'd love to see a development history type video about the history of bits and funnels in the UC timeline. Also, a video about the different ground vehicles of the OYW (Magella, Bloodhound, etc) would be awesome.
Early years of gunpla was something to behold. I heard some amazing horror stories about this kit. I wish I had the MG version of it but as I am building the Kempfer you can see the engineering work of the early MG kits was going thru some growing pains. It was not perfect but who was complaining at the time. Interesting that you are talking about since...oh wait I can't say anything...yet
An RG Gp02 would be glorious. If they could think about giving it a multi-purpose backpack and a few new toys, our chunky shield boy can be quite the backline heavy hitter. A nuke, a Multi-launcher, a massive beam bazooka... sooo many possibilities.
Ha. I'm currently replaying Devil Survivor: Overclocked right now. I wasn't going to click on this video but I seen Yuzu in the preview. Time to get back to figuring out how to escape the lockdown.
The only good thing about the 1991 1/144 kits is that the instructions fold out and flip over into a nice poster. I had the GP 01, 02, and 03 ones on my wall for years, never even tried to build the kits after seeing the runners though.
fun fact: the SD Gundam gp02 was what started my Gundam journey. I bought it randomly knowing nothing about Gundam. I just thought it looked really cool. Then I got the MG GP02 and then I was sucked into the entire world of Gundam!
There might be a possibility for a mg 2.0 as the katoki did work on stardust memory and so far it's the only series katoki was a part of that hasn't gotten a ver ka model kit. So maybe we'll see that or both versions of the gp01 or the gp03, and for the love of God Gundam, NO MORE RX-78 OR UNICORN!!! Both kits have been milked to death and it's getting old.
@MIRAGE MAZINKAISER SAGA we get that, but even then the number of kits to them is stupidly ridiculous. Unicorn kits have at least over thirty different kits to it, where as the RX-78-2 has over sixty kits to it, it’s just getting so tiring to see yet another model kit of either the unicorn or the rx-78-2 when series like stardust memory needs some new kits cause the closest to a more updated kit for them is physalis custom gunpla from build divers, the gp-rasen-two-ten. There needs to be more love to the series and and a new kit for any of the Gundam project mobile suits cause the other kits for them haven’t aged so well.
@MIRAGE MAZINKAISER SAGA honestly I say others are more fiery about it compared to me, but I’d be lying if I said if I was fine with it. Just don’t want to be saturated with more og gundam and unicorn gundam, plus I did enjoy stardust memory and would definitely love to see an updated gp01 zephyranthes along with its full burneon version. That or see them do an upgrade of the ez8 or gundam ground type for the master grade as those are pretty dated as well.
1. Love the Devil Survivor Yuzu sprite reaction 2. I apparently had the SD figure(not Gunpla) when I was beyond little for some reason, neither of my parents know anime and neither did I say the time. Best I can think of is my dad got it when he was deployed in Japan but I'm not sure still...
Here’s my newest ideas for new units and gunpla, my first idea is the spark Gundam, a Gundam used by kamile bidan during the second neo zeon war, it has beam sabers, a beam rifle, and it’s left arm can generate a beam blade (or two, buyer’s choice)and more, kamile used it after his GM storm custom got damaged along with his zeramis alpha, he fought to the very end of the second neo zeon war. My idea is the Poseidon buster Gundam, it’s the buster Gundam but for underwater combat, it’s has regular buster Gundam weapons, with some torpedos and beam sabers, the reason it was made like this is because the builder was a swimmer. My next idea is the vortex Gundam, a unit uses by judau ashta, it has a beam launcher that can be stored on the shoulder and function as a shoulder cannon, a beam rifle, beam sabers, one stored in the right arm, some missiles on the leg and a beam Gatling gun on the left arm, judau used this machine during the second neo zeon war, going up against gale Winston. The next idea I have is the Gundam X dragon, this build has a hyper beam rifle, beam sabers shaped like a knight’s sword, the satellite cannon, one arm that can generate a beam blade, a beam shield colored blue (like it’s other beam weapons) and other weapons used by Gundam x,it’s builder wanted to increase its speed, defense, and attack power, with successful results, with him winning a gunpla battle (if anyone is wondering if getter robo G reference was intended with barbatos lupus liger, buster Poseidon, and X dragon, no it’s not) another unit is the plasma Gundam, it was my by an alliance between the earth alliance and ZAFT, it has different weapons depending on the striker packs, with alie force striker pack has beam sabers that can combine, and a beam rifle, the sword blade pack has two anti ship swords that are smaller than others, but they can combine into a bigger one, with a beam shield and anchor, the blast launcher has beam cannons, one on the shoulder that functions like the blast strike and one that functions like the launcher’s impulse cannon, with a beam spear to boot, it’s is piloted by ryo yamato after his impulse dagger was damaged.
The johnny Ridden Gelgoog was also the Gelgoog cannon 1.0. The gelgoog cannon 2.0 did come out and there were no unique parts to the JR variant beyond out of the box color vs other gelgoog 1.0's so the standard gelgoog 2.0 and gelgoog cannon 2.0 are arguably the 2.0's of that kit.
I'll be honest, I was more fascinated to find out where that base came from.. I have a few of them now and didn't know they went back quite that far. Think my most recent one is a sparkly green version from the Shia Qan[t].
Hey man. Thanks for making this video, although I have to point out that you did include the SD as well as the GBD versions, but skipped out on the Sengokuden version. It does have it's fair share of gimmicks, and the ancient warrior look does make it unique.
The GP-02 is my favorite mobile suit. I remember the first time I saw it on tv back in the day... it was love at first sight. The biggest disappointment for me has been the model kits (the Universal Century HG is pretty good). When I got in the gunpla I found the Perfect Grade GP01 and have been hoping ever since that they would grace the PG series with the GP02. I think having that a PG of that kit would be so amazing and talk about shelf presence... Set it up in Nuke Strike position with that giant shield and cannon... work of art.
bought the GP02 HG off of ebay and i dont know what to say other than it looks great for displaying yet its joints are just absolutely awful, i even had to superglue one of the hands back on just so it can gold the shield all because the ball joint broke on the hand, the HG is definitely in need of a revive
last week i found a SD version in the wild for 11$. I love this unit alongside of the GP-01 but this bad boy gets nothing new in forever. I'll take what I can get and while I wanna build the old MG, I know how those kits work from back then. I just hope in time the RG comes.
the walking war crime machine. thought this vid would be a lot shorter due to nonexistent kits for this gundam. if they do decide to make an RG imma pick it up in a heartbeat .even the MLRS if it's going to be a P-bandai
Did you forget the gframe lineup also released GP02 and the extra equipment of MLRS, beam bazooka . Although it's not a gunpla, trust me, it's awesome 😎
If I had built the MG GP02 3 years ago, I would have said to was one of the worst kits ever. It can’t hold its shield, it can pose, and it looks funky. Since then, I’ve become a massive L-Gaim fan, and it’s model kits have given me a whole knew appreciation for the original MGs. All but 9 of the kits were released in the 80s and 5 the the new one are just 2021 reprints with slightly improved joints, a literal four pack of 1/144 sets with no improvements, and a p-Bandai HG. But, those 80s kits, oh boy, are they bad. I’m currently building the 1/100 Auge and while the metal joints are cool, it’s not fun at all to build. But that’s what you got to expect if your an L-Gaim fan, you can’t even find hi-res color line art of the mecha. At least we got one good L-Gaim kit, the R3 L-Gaim MK II.
the Mechanicore 1/72 Pyrannosaurus was the most over the top version of the GP02 that i ever own. its inherent design aesthetic and overall bulk is really great for customs, sucks that we wouldnt get an official detailed up RG or MG 2.0 for quite some time;
More Gunpla history please! There's a couple of others out there that also do mobile suit histories, but I don't think I've seen anyone else do histories of the gunplas instead.
I would love the 2.0s. I customized my MG GP01 and GP02 pretty heavily to alternative units, so I'd like to have the actual Units in my collection as well.
I'd love to see a real grade of Unit 2 and the Stamen. Either one would be an excellent choice for the upgrade. Then again I still haven't built my Full Burnien yet so there it that lol.
........ I want to see an EG 02 and see what Bandai achieves with it. Considering the current standards of the new EG line, that might actually be quite epic. And then kitbash the Rase-Two new parts on 8D
Something about older kits hit different and I think the hguc GP02 still holds up really well.An mg 2.0 would be nice but I'd rather the zaku 1 get the 2.0 treatment first.
Damn, I can't believe that the GM Sniper II, a mobile suit with less than a minute of screen time has more of a presence in gunpla than the antagonists machine in 0083.

An RG kit of the GP02 would be amazing. It would also look great next to my RG GP01fb. I don't get why Bandai are taking so long with this one.
I have the 2006 HG kit and I skipped the stickers and just painted it instead of stickers and it looks great
I'll be honest, I was more fascinated to find out where that base came from..
I hope we can see some more love for the GPO2 one day, it's my favorite gundam design next to the full armor gundam from thunderbolt.
Every kit should come with a pilot figure to scale, imo. Love the rg line.
GP02 is my favorite Gundam design. It resembles non-Gundam mecha at that time.
I LOVE this type of video. Keep it up!
bought the GP02 HG off of ebay and i dont know what to say other than it looks great for displaying yet its joints are just absolutely awful, i even had to superglue one of the hands back on just so it can gold the shield all because the ball joint broke on the hand, the HG is definitely in need of a revive
last week i found a SD version in the wild for 11$.
Although it's not a gunpla, trust me, it's awesome 😎
this year, there is another version of GP 02 from third parties. and it looks beautiful
At least we got one good L-Gaim kit, the R3 L-Gaim MK II.
the Mechanicore 1/72 Pyrannosaurus was the most over the top version of the GP02 that i ever own. its inherent design aesthetic and overall bulk is really great for customs, sucks that we wouldnt get an official detailed up RG or MG 2.0 for quite some time;
Do Kshatriya please. 😁
I 3D printed a 1/60 and became obsessed lol.
Waited for that rg since the gp01 came out... think it's about time I settled for the hguc... just when there are none on hlj
Kinda hoping it gets a Ver Ka as well, if they don't go with the GP01 first.
The Zaku I is my favorite, 10:39 it’s not fine…. I’m not fine…. Bandai get your shit together!!!
More Gunpla history please! There's a couple of others out there that also do mobile suit histories, but I don't think I've seen anyone else do histories of the gunplas instead.
... development history of the GPO units, including gpo4 and tetra
Hoping you would do more of this gunpla history videos
lol china 3rd party just announce new gp02 1/100 kit with upgraded inner frame and detail
I would love the 2.0s. I customized my MG GP01 and GP02 pretty heavily to alternative units, so I'd like to have the actual Units in my collection as well.
the GP-Rase-Two-Ten has a head unit design similar to the Getter-1 from the Getter Robo series, lol.
It would be cool to have this as the new MG ver Ka., but it's probably going to be a 2.0 RX 78 or maybe even the Turn A
I want a RG GP-02 preferably. I have the HG and wouldn't mind the MLRS version because it looks neat.
We definitely need some more 00 83 love from Bandai
Gp01
Gp02
GP00
In mg updated
The GP02 woyld make one hell of a MGEX
I'd love to see a real grade of Unit 2 and the Stamen. Either one would be an excellent choice for the upgrade. Then again I still haven't built my Full Burnien yet so there it that lol.
It has a zeon like frame with gundam colours and blockiness
........ I want to see an EG 02 and see what Bandai achieves with it. Considering the current standards of the new EG line, that might actually be quite epic. And then kitbash the Rase-Two new parts on 8D
I just love the rgm custom unit lol
1 Year later, still waiting for the MG2.0 GP02 with high hope
Something about older kits hit different and I think the hguc GP02 still holds up really well.An mg 2.0 would be nice but I'd rather the zaku 1 get the 2.0 treatment first.
