It's weird how the bad guys you encounter constantly in Pokémon have devolved from companies trying to dominate the world to bad guys that you find in places with a lot of graffiti and now they’re school bullies (I gotta explain something, I’m mad that they’re school bullies that aren’t menacing I’m not mad about the storytelling)
Have a bad guy part of a corporation that is trying to take over the world half the companies in the world are gonna look at Nintendo and be like "WHO THE F YOU TALKING ABOUT" 😂
@@TheTeraFurret Where was that in V&S? Just from the first Boss I encountered I can already guess that each of the 5 bosses are just motivated from conflicting ideas with the school regulations with the Leader of them being the other character dedicated to that side story. The flavor is kind of bland compared to prior groups in which they wanted to rule the world through controlling eldritch gods with them being the end game next to the Elite Four instead of something you avoid altogether when exploring the open world. The sandwich herb side story is more interesting since you help out a friend(I say that loosely for being shoehorned into what he's doing but we get the Legendary Pokemon from him to act as our mount) and give the legendary pokemon new abilities you could use to go through the open world. Including bypassing the "bad guy's" where your just rewarded with chump change when beating them and a TM.
The Pokemon fanbase is the epitome of toxic positivity. Every year they get fed these mediocre games, and anyone who criticizes them gets shamed and ridiculed.
As someone who lived in Spain when these games released, they don't capture the beauty or vibes of Spain at all. There could've been an olive farm in the olive fields where you could battle trainers for olive oil that could do something for your Pokémon. There could've been these big bridges connecting canals. There could've been a city split into the old section history-filled section and a new modern section. I can't speak on regions in Spain outside of Andalusia but that just speaks to how much wasted potential there was in the whole region. Now the DLC is based in Japan and The Ocean (??) and there's not going to be any more additions to this area I'd love to see represented. It sucks.
Wait this was supposed to be based in Spain... i genuinely thought it had no theme from the videos and photos ive seen. This is genuinely depressing not just because of pokemon but its just terrible representation

Pokemon fans would literally buy a pile of shit from a gamefreak employee and tell you it's the best thing since bread lol, I can only see pokemon games getting worse and worse from here since no matter what gamefreak does it will sell well with their captive audience
One frustrating detail is how you have to constantly wait for NPCs to go through stupid animations to get through a conversation. They’ll say one line and then do a six-second animation. Fast text speed doesn’t matter because of the amount of interruptions
The frame rate and glitches got to me. It felt like I was playing Deadly Premonition 2 again. When I start comparing a big company like gamefreak to a SWERY game that’s a problem.
It's absolutely insane how they took everything people hated about Sword and Shield and then decided to crank all of that shit up to 100 in Scarlet and Violet
It's insane that they made me appreciate Sword and Shield😂 That says a lot. I'm not even past the second gym in this game and I'm throwing it away. What a garbage ass game.
I’d rather have an interesting story than just a really boring game sword and shield is so boring. I only beat it to get the legendary Pokémon for scarlet and violet but I actually wanted to kill myself a few times. In general 9 yes it’s really laggy at times and isn’t optimized but I still was having fun even before the dlc can’t say the same for gen 8 hell even the dlc is bad to me it’s just there for getting Pokémon no fun at all. Very true. It's not like I get happiness out of having a shittier experience than I did in the last iteration of a franchise. I want to enjoy AAA games and I want to recommend them to my friends, but by golly it is getting harder and harder in today's industry. I don't know, when I buy a game I want to get hundreds of hours of play time out of it. I want it to be so enjoyable that I'm thinking about it when I'm at work. I want it to be so fun that I get transported back to when I'm 14 years old again and stayed up way too late playing and didn't care. In the past 5 years only two games have made me do that, RDR2 and Ghost of Tsushima. Just give us what we had. Give us the core experiences we long for and we will come back. I don't like living in this cynical cocoon where every time a new AAA game gets released I have to wait for reviews to come in telling me, "it's fine but nothing special, oh and it needs at least a year more of work." Cool, I'm never playing that game. I hate that this is what has happened to a pastime that gave me so much joy.
Remember all those cool optional dungeons in Hoenn and Sinnoh? The Wrecked Ship between Dewford and Slateport, New Mauville, Shoal Cave, Sky Pillar with freaking Rayquaza on top, Mirage Island, the Sealed Chamber to unlock the Regi Trio Caves, the Old Chateau, all the hidden caves in Meteor Falls and Mount Coronet... Remember how badass you felt when you discovered how to catch the Regis, Rayquaza or just found a new optional dungeon with some cool exclusive items and pokemon? Well in 2023 GameFreak can't even be bothered to create working cities, let alone "optional dungeons"
Yeah, this is why I can't understand people saying, "Well, it's for kids!!!" as an excuse for its mediocrity. When I was a kid, I was working on learning braille to try to understand some random ass writing I came across in a cave that might give me a riddle to discovering something cool. Kids aren't stupid. Plenty of kids like opportunities to explore. This constant coddling from GameFreak is not justifiable.

What really bugs me is that the cities are so lifeless. The only buildings you can enter are shops, no random NOCs that might trade with you or give you a tm or sth
Here is Game Freaks biggest problem for me. They continually keep pandering to younger and younger audience with every release. They forgot that the people that contributed to this being a global success are now in their 30s and late 20's. It's quite ironic because the first three generations in the series didn't feel like that at all.
I share a similar perspective. It also doesn't help that in retrospect, 3rd gen was the most feature-dense among the sprite era. But almost none of it ever got retrofitted into the newer games. Except for Battle Tower and day/night cycle from 2nd gen.
The head of Gamefreak stated in a interview they think kids are dumb. That's why they dumbed everything down. That's why routes and paths, caves are so linear, that's why the story is no longer intriguing, that's why battles are so easy. This interview was around the sword and shield release.
Yah I still am so bummed they cut challenge mode after b&w 2 it just felt like that would be the bare minimum having over leveled fights isn’t really challenging it’s frustrating the trainers still have piss poor teams n even the gym leaders and elite 4 so if I played it with 2 people it’s even easier yah
The saddest part is that there's echoes of a good game in there. The battle music is, as always, pretty good. The final sequence with Area Zero gave a proper sense of exploration and mystery (that imo the main part of the game didn't live up to). Most of the new designs are pretty good. Nemona does the "friendly rival" concept perfectly, giving you a proper challenge and being excited for how both of you are getting stronger. The fact that the sparkles and particle effects from Tera attacks aren't causing major lag on the switch is commendable. I _want_ to defend this game, I really do. I can see the good concepts hidden beneath the poorly executed crust. But I can't in good conscience recommend this game. The open world was something we all requested, but it shows it destroys challenge and level design. Having a free camera during battles forced them to oversimplify animations (just compare Brave Bird in Gen 6 to Gen 9). The bugs, glitches, and lag are frankly inexcusable. And sure, I'll throw in the dead horse of the National Dexit.
I get what you mean currently replying the game and i still have the same feelings i did when i fist played the game. Personally i find the games fun i do but their not brilliant
The open world concept for Pokemon can work, but I i dont think GameFreak can pull it off themselves. They need to farm the design out to people with more experience there.
In all fairness, if this was any other game, people would be demonizing it to hell and back for being a buggy mess. But hey its Pokémon, so it has to be good.
The saddest part of all this is that it will only continue to get worse because people keep buying it, positive change will never happen unless sales take a significant hit which unfortunately ain't gonna happen anytime soon

I think I know the reason why there’s no voice acting, remember in the beginning game it said choose your language and there several languages options, so if they add voice acting they have to have so many different voice actors that speak different languages and that will take a very long time.
The question I ask myself all the time is "What would these games looks like if they had another year or more hands for news ideas and polish" this yearly contract they have is such a detriment to the franchise.
I personally had fun with the game and as someone who does competitive battling teambuilding is fun although I'm not used to the meta as I was in sword and shield. This game really should have gotten delayed to early 2023 or like you said, gotten another year or two of development. Every Pokemon generation that passes I start to appreciate Gen 5 more and more, which was honestly the one I kind of initially scoffed at but in hindsight it was basically a complete refinement of gen 4. Much faster battle animations, idle animations for the Pokemon portraits instead of static pictures, the introduction of reusable TMs, an Elite 4 that's initially easy for the story but then absolutely kicks your butt on the rematch (They go from 4 level 48-50 mons to 6 level 71-77 mons.) a story with characters that were actually interesting, Triple Battles, an almost completely original set of Pokemon that didn't lean into constantly reusing Gen 1 mons to milk nostalgia (Not every one was a hit and a lot of them were arguably derivatives of gen 1 mons, but in hindsight I appreciate the attempt to keep things fresh.) and probably more that I don't remember off the top of my head because it's been like 10 years since I played it. (And I should probably play the Gen 5 games again really.)
I never understood the hate for gen 4 since movesplit was such a game changer, it made a lot of pokemon usable at least casually, platinum was an amazing game imo and as far as gen 5 goes, I didn't play the original B/W, but Black 2 was quite possibly the best pokemon game I've played after platinum, which I managed to enjoy after already being sick of playing pokemon. Fans actually had it really good, the games also had their style and looked good back then, but the series has been on a clear downhill trend since the move to full 3D and just look like budget mobile games now.
I've always had a love for Gen 5, black and white 2 personally had everything I ever needed in a Pokemon game besides the nature mints. I would spend hours and hours on the white Forest tree and the PWT which I would love to see again. The opportunity to fight champions and gym leaders always brought something amazing to me

A bit of a correction on the statement about graphics not being everything. It's the graphics fidelity that isn't everything; the style and art direction play a major role in the overall enjoyment of a game. Especially an open world game, where exploring the world is the main focus. The world has to look good to want to explore it, because there isn't anything to explore otherwise.
Hell, look at Xenonlade 3, a game he brought up. Or the first 2 Xenoblade games. They're fucking beautiful, and it makes you want to explore the world. Like "Ooh, look at that big thing, wonder if I can go there". And pretty much 100% of the time, you could. The Mechonis? You can go there. The World Tree? You can go there. The Great Sword and Uryian Mountains? You can go there. And you want to go there, because the world is pretty, and looks fucking cool. Scarlet and Violet looks like a bad Gmod map.
Just because graphics aren't everything, doesn't mean you have the right to make the game so ugly to look at. Nobody likes seeing framerate drop for no reason. Nobody likes seeing a random person or Pokemon doing smth out of place. Nobody likes experiencing story and not taking thing seriously cuz the scenery is so hard to look at.
True enough, but it's especially true for Pokemon fanboys/Nintendo fanboys. I've never met a group of thicker brick walls in my life. Any time you go into their spaces and suggest something like a more mature Pokemon for the adults who grew up playing the games, they get irrationally angry. Suggest not having to play as a pubescent child? They will damn you to hell. Suggest that GameFreak has been lazy for years and essentially remaking the same story over and over? They will curse your entire family line. "It's a game for kids!" says the adults on the Pokémon subreddit who play every game to death, as if that's the final word and desiring anything more out of the series is sacrilege. The reason GameFreak/Nintendo get away with this is because their hardcore fanbase accept it so happily. They'll sit and get pissed on and thank Nintendo for the shower of "gold".

When all the fun ideas by the fans were 1000% better than we got, something must be wrong. Just think of all UK inspired places, legendary fakemon and plots fans poured out before game came out from uncovering widespread corruption in (football)Pokemon league to the idea that evil team(Rocket) tries to do something inspired by the gunpowder plot to take over the region. Trainers inspired by famous classic British pop, rockbands, etc. Nothing in the final product comes close to creativity people wanted or showed themselves. I knew you were going to talk about this one LOL One of the most annoying things is how fans are defending the game's flaws "because it's fun". Like, we can't say ScarVio gets a pass after completely shitting on CyberPunk and recent Sonic remasters for similar issues.
One other criticism is that they downgraded the pokemon camp feature, in sword and shield you could talk to your pokemon and they'd talk about their mood. In scarlet and violet if you interact with them they just do an animation then run away
@@RAC00NFANGIRL tbf in legends, they're stuck to the place you sent them out to so that feature is still lacking in that game, despite it being better than SV

Game Freak is in a position that most game companies can only dream of where they don’t really have to change or evolve much, if any with each new game in a series as so many people will buy them every time. The thing is, Back when pokemon was still an "rpg" It felt like It did keep evolving, while still sticking to what made it work. I feel like the main issue that was presented from gen 7 onwards was the change in that formula. One of the most noteable differences between Gens 1 - 6, and Gens 7 - 9 is the distinct lack of change in visual style, which was something the first 6 gens were known for. Gens 7 - 9 kinda feel like the New Super Mario Bros of pokemon. I think the grid style worked perfectly for making each region feel distinct and different.

@@DogeCena yes you could, except for mew. Every Pokémon was at least programmed into the game up until SWSH. This is just straight up untrue and there’s zero excuse.
I refuse to believe technical limitations are the reason they couldn't have the school as a full building you can walk around and explore, the Switch isn't that weak. Scarlet & Violet isn't trying to pull off any crazy shaders, lighting, reflections, etc.
Anyone who tries to use technical limitations as an excuse are just in denial. Like other comments stated, breath of the wild (a launch game at that) blows Scarlett and violet out of the water.
@254zero Let's be real. The switch is no powerhouse in the slightest. But I agree, this is not a switch problem. This is a pokemon problem. How can the game play so horribly on the one and only game system it was designed for? It almost seems deliberate.
@@totallynotaclone It doesn't need to be for a game to look good. The Xenoblade games, Bayonetta 3, DKC Tropical Freeze, BoTW/TotK, etc. all look far better and run just fine.
We are cursed to never receive a pokemon game that is up to current gen standards. The masochistic fanbase refuses to admit that these games are extremely far off from being an acceptable product, because they mistake an attack on the game's quality as an attack on their nostalgia, like he says in the video. We are not criticizing you for liking these games, we just want to band together to scorn nintendo/gamefreak for the garbage they created and is succeeding in passing off, due to fan base blindly accepting the quality of these games. WE ALL COULD HAVE MUCH BETTER POKEMON GAMES! Agreeing to these games' massive flaws does not remove the franchise, it improves it. I didn't buy Scarlet & Violet and after these 8 months I'm glad I didn't. I'm a massive fan of the games, so can we please band together so we can receive a well made game. Please people, I implore you to listen to reason.
Maybe I'm just disconnected from the fandom but I think a good majority of the fans have been disappointed and critical for a while. The mass majority of sales are from young kids who don't care, they like pokemon, their parents buy them the games. Some adults still do too ofc but these games do insanely well. Regardless of what actual fans think they've got away with this for a very long time and even if every single adult fan boycotted the games they'd still make millions in sales, and most of their sales don't even come from the games. I can't imagine them starting to give a shit anytime soon unfortunately.
The difference between this and TotK is absolutely insane. In TotK, I can see stuff that catches my attention and I want to go see what's there. The world feels alive and full of things to explore. The open world in Pokemon is something I always dreamed of, but it's somehow worse than the linear style since.... there's nothing in it. It makes me sad.
It's the wasted potential that drives me insane. The franchise is such that it can easily be molded to fit multiple genres of games, but gets pissed away by cheapskate upper management that would rather release an unplayable disaster to avoid spending money developing it properly.
Same! It drives me crazy that this company is putting in way less effort/money than before but somehow is making more money than ever before. Instead of trying to do better, they make every excuse in the book to cut corners even though every excuse has been shown to be BS. Just like in SwSh when they said they wouldn't add every Pokemon in the game to focus on enhancing the models/animations... only to ultimately have minor/no changes. I don't mind them not adding in every Pokemon in each game as that's a HUGE ask now that there are over 1000 Pokemon but don't lie about the reason you won't! The glitches in SV were funny but absolutely unacceptable. I hate putting out there about people losing their livelihoods but people should have been fired for this mess (if they weren't).
@@kamatari1220Yeah I don’t think having all the Pokémon is necessary. Like sure using a Pokémon I like is cool but giving me a game with any sort of life and enjoyment is better.
@@mr.boymandood Exactly! I'd rather have a game with 300 pokemon but I spend days to weeks playing. I played SV for maybe 2 days max. I didn't even get close to finishing it! I played Tears of the Kingdom for 6 WEEKS STRAIGHT (not all day everyday but I didn't play a different game in that time) and I'm just missing some armors. Pokemon as a series has made FAR more than the LoZ series so there is no excuse for why Pokemon's games lack.
Cant get over how gen 5 had bustling and real feeling cities and somehow now we have empty, lifeless cities that are literally copy pasted. What happened?
they didn't feal bustling and real, its just some 3D building blocks with 2D sprites that move in a grid. You don't see them jumping or eating/drinking while walking like in SV, I don't see how that feels more alive.
@Saroku1000 someone's fan boy, yes my one npc in scarlet and violet fading into the either with lagging mouth movements is the very pinnacle of a nice realtic bustling town.
I think a lot of pokemon players haven't played many or any other open world games. My biggest disappoint was the lack of non-battling activities. No contests or underground or base building or poke studios. Not even a battle tower, which are still battles. I thought we'd be able to at the very least get to decorate our dorm.
@@BlueAizu_ Competitive less so as it has regular circuits/cups/seasons to actually play once you have the team, as well as regional and international tournaments. Shiny hunting though, that's the viral way that GameFreak can 'add post game' content because there's so many people that think running around in circles to hatch a shiny pokemon and banish it to the box forever is good. I honestly blame shiny hunting and the rise in it for the decline in pokemon post game.
It sold 10 million copies in the first 3 days you haters are insane … and late on the hate train that’s been at a standstill for weeks now Lmaoo … just doing this for clicks
Pokemon Scarlet & Violet is the natural result of years of blind support from the fans. If you keep buying garbage, the seller won't improve that garbage because it is been sold anyway. This game is pure, objective garbage, not only from the technical side: it's gameplay, which heavily relies upon massive and unusual grind (Terra Shard farming, Removal of Pokerus, one time usage TMs, breeding takes longer) is insane. It is absolutely ridiculous.
Back when Sword and Shield released, the developers actually gave an explanation for features getting cut at random: they use it to make each entry a surprise. ...I wish I was joking.
Kinda like how they had to scrap the national Dex so they could focus on making new models and animations- only for it to be quickly proven they were still using the exact same assets.
I love how everything I liked about Legends was not in this game. The Ui from Legends I would say is the perfect Pokémon UI. You can swap what was the lead of your team in seconds with out having to pull up a menu. You could us multiple potions on Pokémon without having to select it again. We are evolving just backwards.
@@agr0nianTVits because they fucking are, both games were being developed at the same time, i am sure the next game will include what people liked in legends
the school thing threw me off. why can't i actually walk through it? and then i got lost in the early game just following my nose and wound up being super OP before i encountered my first gym. so of course i just plowed through them like a hot knife through butter.
Makes me appreciate how cool games like Bully and Psychonauts were. So few games actually provide a rich and emersive fictional school environment. Pokemon could've had one of the best fictional schools but it ended up being one of the worst imo. Taking away halls, timing, and dynamic relationships really killed any actual chance at achieving that. For a second I thought I was actually gonna be able to choose if I was a part of team star... How silly I was.
@@oldnosoul4183 the game is really fun, also I'm 20 hours deep and only at the second gym, and I havent seen a single bug. I bet you havent even played it :P
You should watch RT Games play it. he beat the game after only 3 gyms, well, maybe not *beat* but he went through and got to like level 80 and did everything else.
I literally played Pokémon games on ROBLOX that were more fleshed out than this. That’s probably why Nintendo purged all the Pokémon games off the site, so they don’t look so bad. It’s actually insane how terrible the map design is.
There was a recent episode of Boundary Break that showed off what I think may be a huge factor in why the game runs so badly: at _all_ times the ocean is rendered. You'd think that'd be a small thing but past the ocean you see, there's an absolutely _massive_ sphere of water that looks to be at _least_ 100 times the size of Paldea. Even though it's just a blue sphere, it's ridiculous size _has_ to be contributing when it's constantly being rendered. I don't know why they left this in when you can't even see that far out to begin with but it feels like another oversight due to how rushed Game Freak has to be as the key part of the massive Pokémon Merch Engine. This game needed at _least_ a few more years and ideally a bigger team with people with open-world experience but then the people in charge wouldn't be able to make new plushies of new 'Mons to sell. At this point there's at least 1000 of the things so you'd think letting a truly good (or at least competent) game come out to regain confidence in the series would be priority one but that's money _later_ and the people who make money decisions for giant companies can't stand the thought of less money now, even when their moneymaker is literally the highest grossing thing ever.
I don’t even think it needed a few more years, that’s a bit excessive. 1 more year at most would’ve fixed enough problems to make it an acceptable product that runs well. I don’t it can be justified to scrap the project and build it from the ground up again to fix every problem, they would just make that a new game in the same vein as platinum.
It sounds like the team has zero experience with making a 3D Open World, games like this tend to have a draw distance for things like that, thats why San Andreas had fog(if I remember correctly) Either way its not saving the game for how lifeless basically everything is but the Pokemon. When people are talking about about how much time the team needed, I gotta say I have no idea, this game i think was in development for three years. GameFreak had tons of outsourced help so I have no idea what went wrong.
A lot of games have that sort of stuff. Very large planes of water, massive sky domes, that's pretty common, even among other nintendo games. I can almost guarantee you it's caused by other stuff, though i won't try to guess what exactly. I'd suggest for people to just relax a bit and try to have fun with games again, it's better than being critical all the time and always wanting more. There's a time for being critical and there's a time for enjoying what's there. I just think it's sad when people are constantly critical about games, when it's fun if you let it be.
The lighting issue at 18:19 is not from the internal clock or how long a fight takes. The "Terastallize" button on your UI appears a light source in the overworld. Yes. Part of the menu illuminates things... That's why the light is only there when the option is visible, if you go back to the previous menu or use it up then it goes away.
It’s very frustrating during battle when the game has to spell out every little detail. Daryl Talks Games made a great point how the camera is still and lifeless and how that makes the gameplay boring. Meanwhile Colosseum’s got that zoom in and dynamic camerawork making attacks feel like they hit harder.
Im starting to wonder if people have faulty copies of these games. My camera is not static, it moves with the battle and I can even unlock it and move it myself if I want to.
@@grizzlycharizard0017 I can agree to a extent, but games can be good despite bad graphics. Unfortunately gamefreak is bad at making games in general, so in turn the bad graphics are a slap in the face. Also a few new pokemon designs are uninspired, and boring.
Remember when diehard fans were saying "Look! Nintendo acknowledged the problems & will release patches to fix it!" Here we are, months later, no fixes. Game still runs in slow motion, looks miserable, has glitches everywhere, online is atrocious, can't connect to raids, weird bugs within raids, etc. It's crazy how much hell was raised over Cyberpunk's release, but at least CDPR was constantly communicating, improving performance, releasing patches to fix bugs/exploits, while working on new content. Game Freak has been dead silent, has fixed nothing, and game released in a crappier state than Cybperpunk did... Just because the publisher, Nintendo, "ACKNOWLEDGED" the problems, doesn't mean the developer is going to fix them. I'm sure all they're doing now is just working on whatever crappy, overpriced DLC they can release while ignoring the game's quality. If only the fanbase had some restraint & wouldn't reward them by inevitably purchasing any new content until the game was fixed.
Yeah thats the issue. They can acknowledge the issue, but technically are not obligated to do anything about it. People pre-ordered the game, they made the transaction, they bought the game, therefore they agreed that this is ok essentially. Its down right sad.
@DeoxysAndMew 2 Crazy I made this post 2 months ago, and it's still been nothing but silence & no performance fix. And now that TotK released, we see a FAR more ambitious game, yet it manages to look exponentially better while simultaneously running better. Pokemon Scarlet/Violet are a fraction of the game in terms of size, scope, detail, physics, NPCs, and layers upon layers of mechanics & systems that just work from the onset.
@@corey2232 its just gamefreak simply cant do better job anymore. Thats what im getting out of this. Going into 3D was the biggest mistake they were told to venture into. The games honestly should have stuck with pixel art, but now since thats impossible, it wont get better. And the whole pixel art design, isnt out of nostalgia. Its just a fact that they were doing way better. In fact, i would argue they WERE improving since 1st gen to gen 5 only to hit a clean slate, migrating to 3D. And after this "reset", through each gen, its worse. Probably at gen 18, people will start praising gen 1 lmao.
The thing that is infuriating is that just this year we also got Legends Arceus, that flattened out a lot of problems I had with Pokémon… and now they’re back in SV. Even the battling got changed back to the worse version.
The fact that Gamefreak abandoned older fans of the games and still made more money than ever is a sign the games will only get worse. I played Sword and Shield and decided to never buy Pokemon again after that game disappointed.
I quit at Pokemon Y and I'm so happy that I missed out on the more recent crap that Gamefreak/Nintendo has been spewing out. Two friends of mine were swallowing massive amounts of copium when scarlet & violet came out, it looked truly awful when I watched them play it. I'm about to buy a dsi xl and pokemon platinum or soulsilver and it's going to be such a good experience in comparison.
I've come to realize in this industry and through those around me that people will pay for a game without any good reason to buy it other than loyalty or nostalgia. I gave up on trying to convince people that if they just spend 1 or 2 years not buying the newest cod, madden, 2k, pokemon, and so on that those games that they complain about after wasting their money would improve vastly on their next release, because if there's one thing that these companies care about, it's money, and if you stop giving it to them so easily they will do everything in their power to get it back from you.
Black and White 2 were truly the peak of the series. X/Y up to Ultra Sun/Moon were good too, but you can start to see the developers starting to care less and less. And that's probably because they don't care, the games don't make nearly as much as all the merchandise. As long as they make low quality games, that will provide new Pokémon for toys, cards, movies, etc. I was a tiny bit hopeful for these new games, finally jumping to open world, but it's been a major let down. I'll be looking to the fan game community for my Pokémon fix from now on!

Do you raise the pets you love to bite and scratch other animals, or even people? This is what you do in Pokemon! It is wicked and God hates the souls of them who love violence! As you have Pokemon partners; instead of loving them and raising them without fighting, it is all they know, violence! Many say it's just a game but your heart enjoys it, fool yourself not. Seeing now what you were once blind to, repent of your sins and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost! Love Act Man, but he has no range, he covers that 25-30 year old demographic perfectly. Nerdy kids who loved Pokémon, Yugioh DBZ growing up, as a teen getting into CoD, Halo, Battlefield. That's basically his range. He doesn't cover RPGs, strategy games, MMOs, VR games, etc. He's basically every 25-30 year old I know.
The lack of voice acting is what really gets me. This is a major release by a multi-billion dollar company in the 2020s, and there's zero voice acting. There's a character in the game who sings a song, and there are no lyrics when she sings, it's looks like a pantomime. I know voice acting is expensive but again, this is a multi-billion dollar company, a flagship product of one of the biggest media franchises in history - they can afford to have voice acting, at least in Japanese and English if not for every localisation. There are indie and AA games with way smaller budgets that voice act either key cutscenes or every piece of dialogue. Fallout and Baldur's Gate, released in the 90s, had voice acting. Pokemon games can do it too Imagine if another AAA games today did this. Imagine if Final Fantasy 16 or Starfield had no voice acting. Fans would be furious. But because it's Pokemon they get away with it. Like the Act man says, don't defend this Pokemon fans, you deserve better
Game Freak needs to be held accountable. They are either unable to keep up with game development required for this scale of a project or is unwilling to get help from Nintendo/expand their own staff needs to get things done. We have to stop rewarding companies with our money for sub-par, half baked, technical glitch filled games.
I don't disagree, but even when a bad game does sell poorly, the publisher almost always derives the wrong conclusion from it. When Dead Space 3 tanked, EA simply quit making new Dead Space games. Same with Square Enix when Deus Ex Mankind Divided tanked. I'm by no means saying people should spend money on bad products, but poor sales usually just results in a franchise getting shelved rather than the publisher actually taking feedback to make a better product.
@@qu1253 there is no way the highest-grossing media franchise in history would get shelved if one game entry underperformed. There might be some rolling heads higher up or another studio being brought in to work on the mainline entries but there is no way TPC or Nintendo would stop making the games.
What makes you think Gamefreak can demand help from Nintendo? Wtf are these delusional comments? If anything, you should be holding Nintendo accountable. They also own Pokemon.
@@JayceCH. it’s more the Pokémon company that needs to be held accountable Or maybe it’s a little more complex than that and maybe all 3 need to be held accountable rather than being reductive and only blaming one team for an entire gsme
Been a fan of Pokémon since RSE. I can’t believe how poorly AAA titles are executing their games. It physically pains me and the major problem is that very few are willing to not buy it to send a message. These companies don’t care what people say as long as the sales keep coming in.
If you want to play this games you’ll have to pay $60. With any luck they’ll get lowered to $45. I love pokemon but I’m not paying that price if the game is essentially broken or unpolished… i wanted sword or shield bc i was hyped for them but after seeing how unpolished they were i refused and got BOTW instead… no regrets
Ask me a good few years ago if piracy was a unethical crime and I would have said definitely, but as of late, companies like Nintendo have been changing that answer
This is the Sonic 06 of the Pokémon franchise. Genuinely. The Pokémon fan base has gotten just as toxic and insecure as Sonic, too. As someone who has loved both franchises since I was a fetus, it's absolutely insane to see the tables turn so hard. Sonic fans, for once, aren't the ones spamming "NO IT'S GOOD I SWEAR"
Not even talking about the games, the Pokemon designs and concepts themselves are bafflingly average at best and the blind fans will be like "yep. Amazing. We'll consume said product without asking questions". Seriously though where's the lore behind the box legends? Like why are Koraidon and Miraidon even legendary? Makes zero sense that these two random paradox Pokemon are legendary while the other paradox Pokemon aren't. They rushed the games and made it horrible.
Is it really that hard to program like 8 different teams for each Gym? They even have a built in excuse for this with Nemona nerfing herself at the start of the game
It would be trivial to program. It would take more time to balance though, and it seems like Game Freak was really short on time with this one. I really don't see why they felt the need to rush this one out though. The GenIV remakes and Arceus both came out less than a year ago, so it's not like Pokémon fans were starved for content.
I got Leaf green when I was in elementary school and didn't know there were previous pokemon games. I had put like 200+ hours into it in less than a year, explored everything you could explore three times over, and then one day when I was at a friend's house he traded me a level 88 Houndoom. I don't think I'll ever hit that type of high again.
No one should ever forget that Pokemon is *literally* the *largest multi media IP the world has ever seen,* and this is how they treat their flagship title.
The thing is that he main games may be the "flagship" because everything originated there, but the real money maker and the reason it is the largest multimedia IP ever is the card game/merchandise, and sadly those need a constant, steady and synchronized launch of new games/pokemons. Which conflicts quite a lot with the increasing developing time of games (specially with gamefreak apparently not really knowing how to program in 3D...) Still I agree with you, it sucks, and they have more than enough money to multiply thousandfold the staff of game freak to at least help a bit if they wanted to. They just don't give a crap, they have figured out that regardless of what they do 15 to 20 mil copies sold are guaranteed at the very least, kids don't care/know and adult fans complain but still buy the game. Plus the new Pokemon designs will dwarf that sales in cards and plushie sales. Our best hope is that this keeps degrading another generation or two, community keeps complaining louder and louder as they we are doing, and nintendo itself "enters the chat" and tells gamefreak that, in a way, Pokemon are nintendo games and nintendo has a reputation of quality to maintain. Like them or not with nintendo games (with very few exceptions) you can be pretty certain that the game is going to be quite polish and overall work properly. They dont tend to like half ass bs, you can expect a minimum level of quality that Pokemon doesn't provide any more, and the voices saying it are getting louder and louder. I am sure nintendo is not happy with that being the reputation garnished by they biggest console seller. Let's hope they force the Nintendo Company and Gamefreak to do better.
Pokemon being the largest multi media IP IS the main problem, because when your franchise has achieved this status, you can literally release any shit and people will buy it. In the last 9 years, Pokemon has received mostly garbage and mediocre stuff (MOSTLY), and still, all these games will be in the top charts and be the best selling games of the year, hell, S & V just sold 10 million copies in 3 days. I legitimately don't blame Nintendo nor Game freak for all of this, if i was the boss of a game studio, and noticed that the fans will buy literally anything from my franchise, i also wouldn't care that much por polishing and the quality of my games.
@@aritzmartinezrodriguez1825 Unfortunately, since I believe this was the fastest selling game in history at launch, I don't think they will *ever* listen to the quality complaints of the fans. Even as a game alone Pokemon has become too big to fail regardless of lack of quality
@@KoalaTContent I am sure that the Pokemon company, as a multimedia company, doesn't give a crap about the quality of the games as long as those sweet yens keep coming. 6:00 When it comes to world diversity, I think Gen 5 takes the cake. That gen gave us Nacrene City, which is populated with warehouses instead of houses and has a hipster artist vibe. Castelia, a huge metropolis similar to NYC. Nimbasa, a city inspired by various forms of entertainment like sports, theatre and an amusement park. Driftveil City, which was inspired by industrialization and mining. Anville Town, which is characterized as being a pitstop for trains. Lentimas, a town sat beside a volcano that is known for clay pottery. Virbank, which has a dark and grungy, possibly polluted aesthetic. Lacunosa Town, which is very traditional and surrounded by walls due to fear of a "monster" living in a nearby crater. Opelucid City and Black City/White Forest both change to fit the aesthetic/ideal of their respective title. All of these locations feel as though they could easily be from entirely different regions. But world diversity was a key focus in gen 5, since Unova was inspired by New York and North America in general. Scarlet and Violet's towns, while still unique from one another, honestly lack a lot of the personality that Gen 5's towns had. I think a key part of that is the NPC's - an NPC in North Paldea is no different from an NPC in South Paldea. But an NPC in Castelia or Nimbasa or Driftveil is completely different from one in Lacunosa or Undella.
The funniest thing about using items one at a time is that they fixed that in gen 5 but for some reason went back on it. But what bothers me the most personally is that the country it's based on means nothing. You could tell Uvona was based on the US, Kalos on France, Alola in Hawaii, and Galar in the UK. I wouldn't be able to guess for the life of me that this is supposed to be Pokemon Spain. Like, compare Galar to Paldea, all 3 starters are UK based (rock/football/secret agent), the region bird is a knight, you’ve got a tea pokemon, you’ve got a cake pokemon, you’ve got apple pie pokemon, you’ve got multiple music-based pokemon, you’ve got a football-based league with everyone wearing football kits, you’ve got goths, you’ve got chaps, this is Pokemon England 110%. What’s Padea got? Fucking Tauros?
Wow, I never considered that angle. The idea that it isn't the developers but the player's ambition that has diminished is pretty on point. What came to mind was the phrasing, "This game is bad... but I already bought it so..."

Well, it actually already exists! Coromon is so much better than these last titles, not joking, if you enjoy pokemon you will enjoy coromon 3x more. Scarlet and violet are the best pokemon games in the series in spite of their technical problems. That is why fans defend these games. We have confidence these issues will be resolved in the future so dogging on such amazing pokemon games is silly. Thats how we view it.
@@zolmation I actually too think sv will be good without the problems in glitches and performance issues but the problem is the game shouldn't be released with so many errors. that's the same with "release now, finish later" stuffs content-wise (and I believe SV will add more things too)
I'm just now finding out Paldea is supposed to be Spain and now I'm kinda mad about it. I've been living in Spain for years now and nothing I've seen (in this video at least) even once made me think of any part of Spain. One cool thing about Spain is that it has a myriad of castle styles due to the Reconquista taking place over more than 700 years and each side having different architectural styles leading to unique castle designs throughout the centuries. What a missed opportunity for some awesome and unqiue castle designs right there, not to mention plenty of other things Spain has to offer visually. It's one of the number one vacation destination spots for Europe for a reason but what I've seen has vindicated my decision to pass on the game.
13:27 One of my longest running complaints with this game series is exactly summed up here. There are so many slow interrupting textboxes in this game now that a single turn can take upwards of a whole minute. Competitive VGC is even worse when there's weather, status conditions like burn, lingering moves like leech seed, animations for terra/dynamax, etc all taking a few seconds each the whole experience becomes awful and bogged down. All of these lingering effects are also shown in a different display during battle leaving the UI completely vacant except for HP bars. The series desperately needs better display of information and a more streamlined battle system. The argument "it's a kids' game, it needs to be spelled out" doesn't even work here because it's hiding the information most of the time and presenting it so poorly when it does so.
I tried to get my wife into the last Pokémon game and while she really liked it the point that made her not play it was simply how long some of the moves took and the entering/exiting Pokémon battles. She didn't have nostalgia powering her through the long in and out of battle times.
20:08 yeah that distorting cliff is a familiar little error I’ve experienced while learning UE5 recently. From what I’ve learned, I think it’s caused by the normal texture map put onto the surface, which is supposed to transform the texture based on the angle you view it to create the illusion of depth on flat surfaces. Usually it works as intended on simple surfaces, but in my experience it’ll sometimes wiggle around like that on landscapes. I don’t really know what causes it though, but I’m sure more experienced people could give an answer. My point is, that is something that should be a product of someone like me. Someone who is new to game dev and is still learning to work out the kinks. That should not be a product of GameFreak, who have millions of dollars to surely hire people that know how to avoid bugs like that.
@Taugs Yes, though tesselation is very very expensive. Considering it's on the Switch, they might have went with a cheaper option, like a shader, to give a similar effect. Not sure if they did that here, just a thought.
@Kyyndle yeah which is why I was confused. It looks so bad that I felt like it was a different type of tesselation. Never occurred to me that it could just be shaders. Which would for sure make it look like that if very poorly done. Thank you for that insight. And I noticed I've been using teesa and not tessel lol. Now I know! I've always been saying it with an a
I've been out of the Pokemon loop since Game Freak decided to nix Mega Evolutions. Literally one of the coolest things Game Freak ever came up with to make the games interesting again, and they drop it after a single generation. Ever since that, I cannot fathom why anyone defends these games other than just complete loyalty to the Pokemon brand. "Don't defend this, you deserve better," is just the tip of the iceberg
Well pokemon arceus was pretty good and it had really good story! I wish took more time make Pokémon scarlet and violet and yes finally someone understands my pain I miss mega evolutions they should bring it back!
@@RAC00NFANGIRL me too, but I highly doubt if gamefreak will ever do it at this point I was just thinking "was it THAT hard to incorporate every good aspects of past games and listen to fans". Ideally I'd think of S/V DLC to include a fully functionable national dex (and actually everyone up to this point would be usable), megas and Z-moves (some pokemon have exclusive z-moves but other use generic ones), and many more. but whatever gf decides to do
there was a statement ages ago about pokemon being the proof of "if aint broke, dont fix it" well its started to be broke for awhile now. with sales continuing to soar and somehow a company who decides the game launch WILL coordinate with merch instead of when its ready... yeah, you can tell the core team who was making these games is probably long gone
@@vissermatt1058 the funny thing is I don't see any advertisements for Gen 9 merch at all. I'm still being shown ads for sword and shield card packs, toy sets and action figures for pokemon from generations ago, et cetera. I haven't so much as seen a Gen 9 plushie iirc. X.x
@@aardwolf6668 so I'm not sure if that weird demand was even ready for out here in the west. i dont go to malls any more, nor toy stores. but i do know for a fact, that they scheduled a dual release date for the game to match its fall merch. maybe its just for japan? i dont know if asia has similar tendencies, but the original 151 pokemon probably still sell better then anything else out here?
As someone who likes this game in spite of the mess, I also believe Scarlet/Violet deserved way better and i will happily critise the games along with game freak, I'll also admit that some of the more hardcore and devoted Nintendo/Game Freak defenders are crazy and they will defend them no matter how badly they treat them. I swear the series peaked with Gen 5 and Gen 6 was the start of Pokemons seasonal rot.
I know I am late and you probably won't see this, but it continues to amaze me how older jRPG games like Final Fantasy solved almost every single one of modern pokemon problems. Back in Final Fantasy X, whenever a party member would be inflicted with a status effect an animated effect would appear in a designated area proportional to their model, in a way that didn't interfere with other status effects that could stack. These visual effects were clear communication and feedback to the player on what was happening to their party member and happened instantaneously and seamlessly. No delays between actions. No interrupting of the game experience. And this was on a game where the devs notoriously ran into major issues working with entirely new hardware (PS2's Emotion Engine) for the first time. It is PAINFUL how incompetent the final result of Pokemon games are.
I think originally the delay between move selection and execution was for AI selection and damage calculation. Why they have never streamlined that, I have no idea
@@atrane365but srsly the lag is so bad you have time to consult chat gpt between each text box and get a 5 page essay answer. clearly they messed something up big time
Dude I said the exact words day one regarding the confusion text chain and stat changes and that’s probably my biggest gripe. I would trade every single graphical bug fix for the option to to have an animation with no text box showing status condition changes. It’s mind numbing how slow some of these battles get…I swear to god Gamefreak thinks it’s player base are literally made up of players under the age of 10 or assume everyone playing this game has never played a Pokémon game before. I’ve waited over 30 seconds during some raids to even select an attack due to the AGONIZING status condition text boxes. 4 players each with attack buffs, defense buffs, sleep and confusion. Also the fact that the stores are literally just menu boxes ….you couldnt possibly put any less effort into development. On the plus side, lots of improvements have been made to VGC and I’ve really been enjoying season 1 so far. The ability to craft TMs and spin up a team has really been streamlined. It’s such a weird dichotomy because on the one hand it assumes you know nothing about status conditions and spoon feeds you every single detail juuuust to make sure you understand it….but then offers basically zero explanation to crafting TMs and just assumes you know how to farm materials and create moves specially designed for status condition changes. Player’s defending this game are either trolling or have never played it. There’s literally no other explanation.
I just finished Violet and I have to say, its awful. The world is choppy, the battle animations are laughable, the gameplay is subpar at best, for a 3d world Pokemon game...my disappointment is immeasurable and my day ruined.
This just looks like bare bones, they just copy pasted it from sword and shield and somehow even made it even more bland.Thats why another Pokemon game was released fast after the last Pokemon games(sword and shield).I remember when they used to take more time to make another main series Pokemon game
As a diehard Pokémon fan, I first started to worry when I beat Sw&Sh and realized how hollow the games felt to me. Then they released the trailer for Bd&Sp and the vids that came with it, pointing out the problems. When they used FOMO to sell it, I started to panic. When BD&SP released, I didn’t buy it because I wanted to wait if the problems were fixed. They were not. I understand that they were made by a different studio, but the fact that Game Freak allowed the games to release in the state they were in made me pissed. Legends Arceus was a breath of fresh air which was nice. Then they crapped out this s**tshow of a game. This series has been marching through a downward spiral since gen 5, and unless Game Freak can make a competent game, I’m not giving them another fu**ing cent. I’ll just be playing gen 5 until they can remember how to make a game. This is unacceptable.
I left the franchise after playing SWSH, and buy BoTW and monster hunter rise instead of the DLC I've never played SWSH again, but dumped hours on the two games
It started failing in gen 6. Gen 5 was superb with the pokemon world tournament, and the dream world pokemon you could use in the main game were solid.
I think what makes it even worse is that fact that Legend of Arceus, a game that came out earlier in the year, didn't suffer from the same performance problems Scarlet and Violet are going through and there were even some changes in gameplay that actually improved the experience rather than feeling like a watered down version of previous game. Sure Legend of Arceus isn't without it's problems. But when you compare the two projects, it's clear which one they put more polish into.
Except Legends Arceus did suffer the same performance problems, they were just mostly fixed before launch. And the lighting/graphics were still terrible. The textures are actually decent in Scarlet and Violet, they just don't load in so it looks worse than Arceus even though Arceus had way worse textures. Also Legends Arceus had less max pokemon on screen, way smaller map (meaning easier to handle performance wise), basically no buildings in any of the open world areas - again helping with performance, etc. It was a much smaller game so it was much easier to optimize. Simple as that.
@@brohogany9920 Is it bad to defend good parts of the game? Like do people seriously want pokemon to not be pokemon anymore? Yeah I HATE pokemon battles and I certainly hate catching pokemon and getting gym badges too. Weirdo. I only defend the good parts, the performance is bad, there are no sidequests, and the towns have no interiors. Other than that it is just a pokemon game with bad performance. I would change nothing other than those I mentioned.
I could be wrong but especially given the recent reports, it could be possible that this game was being developed to release on the cancelled switch pro, then when it was cancelled, the game wasn't delayed (it should have been) and devs scrambled to make it (mostly) playable on original switch.
I've never defended this franchise. I always tell people that I was too old to be interested when Pokemon came out (Red/Blue). I was in college during Gen 1. I did play Blue when it came out, but I really just wasn't too interested due to the simplistic gameplay loop. There were also already other monster collecting RPGs out there like SMT2. Since then there have been other games crop up that did things to make it distinctive and more interesting than Pokemon. SMT3, Persona, Monster Hunter Stories. Interestingly enough, when I worked for a games media publication, I actually did my Pokemon Ultra Sun/Moon review by comparing it to Monster Hunter Stories. Comparing the two was a pretty interesting experience as it really made Pokemon's shortfalls more visible. While the gameplay loop is still simple, there are complexities like having to learn the monster's attack patterns, so much like a Monster Hunter game, you get better the more you fight a particular monster. If I were to say anything to any Pokemon fans out there who were dissatisfied with Scarlet/Violet, go out and pick up one of the Monster Hunter Stories games. They obviously aren't perfect, MHS2 has a lot of pop in when flying in the overworld due to technical limitations (which may not be an issue on more powerful hardware). Pokemon seems to be a victim of it's own success. Since it's branched out into a multimedia franchise, it can't have delays. Delaying the release of a new entry means they have to delay the merch, TCG set release, animated series release (which ends up being 13 weeks in Japan) etc. TPC really needs to hold off on announcements until the game is basically finished so they have everything ready at once, and without compromising the quality of the games.

The only way I see Nintendo ever focusing on quality is if they have a change in upper leadership that puts emphasis on quality (unlikely) or a large media/tech giant buys Nintendo (Disney and Microsoft are most likely, but the Japanese government would most likely block it because Nintendo makes up like a 10th of Japan's GDP.)

Gamefreak didn't need to perform miracles for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet to succeed. Open World Pokémon has been a dream for so many. It's honestly about time we had one. Gamefreak simply needed to finish up the game. It's simultaneously shocking and sad (but not surprising) Pokémon Scarlet and Violet ended up this way.
If only the Pokémon company would let go of the annual release schedule. Gamefreak needs a much larger team, a new game engine, less complacent management and more time.

Gen 5 definitely holds a majority of my least favourite Pokémon, but there were more than enough for me to find multiple teams I loved.
I never understood the hate for gen 4 since movesplit was such a game changer, it made a lot of pokemon usable at least casually, platinum was an amazing game imo
and as far as gen 5 goes, I didn't play the original B/W, but Black 2 was quite possibly the best pokemon game I've played after platinum, which I managed to enjoy after already being sick of playing pokemon.
The opportunity to fight champions and gym leaders always brought something amazing to me
The modded version made it even better, too. Props to the community.

Graphics is the main thing, if everything look like complete diaherra water no one don't wanna play that bull.

True enough, but it's especially true for Pokemon fanboys/Nintendo fanboys. I've never met a group of thicker brick walls in my life.

Sorry, but Galar (UK) was disappointment as well considering how much fun things you could do with the concept. Game Freak is in a position that most game companies can only dream of where they don’t really have to change or evolve much, if any with each new game in a series as so many people will buy them every time. I always figured that would be its decline, but it seems like Scarlet’s and Violet’s bugs and lack of polish could be its decline.
I haven’t played Pokémon since Diamond version (the original) and to see it decline to… *this* is really sad. I don’t play the games anymore, but I will always have a special place in my heart for this series. Pokémon has fallen so far, I only hope it rises back up better than ever after this.

I still stand by the opinion that Gen 8 was the worst one.
It's really sad that many other Nintendo IPs like Fire Emblem are improving and evolving their gameplay, while Pokémon is just stagnating for over 10 years now, shame Game freak shame
Its not even stagnation anymore, there GOING BACKWORDS
The thing is, Back when pokemon was still an "rpg" It felt like It did keep evolving, while still sticking to what made it work. I feel like the main issue that was presented from gen 7 onwards was the change in that formula. One of the most noteable differences between Gens 1 - 6, and Gens 7 - 9 is the distinct lack of change in visual style, which was something the first 6 gens were known for. Gens 7 - 9 kinda feel like the New Super Mario Bros of pokemon. I think the grid style worked perfectly for making each region feel distinct and different.
If someone can convince pokemon to release a new game every couple years instead and really focus on stuff like the world and graphics, even make it for pc or something, I assure you that it would be the most played game, fuck it put shark cards like gta5 or something in its own way , monetize it more, but at least make it really good and fun.

Yeah its sad the old ones are more interesting like fire red and leaf green

Not all surprises are good…
So is that why they cut Pokémon contest, berry farming, dive as an HM, and the mach/acro bike split?

So few games actually provide a rich and emersive fictional school environment.
Pokemon could've had one of the best fictional schools but it ended up being one of the worst imo. Taking away halls, timing, and dynamic relationships really killed any actual chance at achieving that.

It sounds like the team has zero experience with making a 3D Open World, games like this tend to have a draw distance for things like that, thats why San Andreas had fog(if I remember correctly)
Either way its not saving the game for how lifeless basically everything is but the Pokemon. When people are talking about about how much time the team needed, I gotta say I have no idea, this game i think was in development for three years. GameFreak had tons of outsourced help so I have no idea what went wrong.
They don’t. Game freaks are good for 2D games. Not 3D

I've come to realize in this industry and through those around me that people will pay for a game without any good reason to buy it other than loyalty or nostalgia. I gave up on trying to convince people that if they just spend 1 or 2 years not buying the newest cod, madden, 2k, pokemon, and so on that those games that they complain about after wasting their money would improve vastly on their next release, because if there's one thing that these companies care about, it's money, and if you stop giving it to them so easily they will do everything in their power to get it back from you.
so it is literally everyone's fault. the industry, the audience, all stupid.
Pokemon games can do it too
Imagine if another AAA games today did this. Imagine if Final Fantasy 16 or Starfield had no voice acting. Fans would be furious. But because it's Pokemon they get away with it. Like the Act man says, don't defend this Pokemon fans, you deserve better
How about none of THAT, instead they really need is to make a great game then the franchise can actually be good again!

I really don't see why they felt the need to rush this one out though. The GenIV remakes and Arceus both came out less than a year ago, so it's not like Pokémon fans were starved for content.
I got Leaf green when I was in elementary school and didn't know there were previous pokemon games.
Which conflicts quite a lot with the increasing developing time of games (specially with gamefreak apparently not really knowing how to program in 3D...)
Still I agree with you, it sucks, and they have more than enough money to multiply thousandfold the staff of game freak to at least help a bit if they wanted to.

Sometimes i think its Italy or somewhere in South America. I remember I kept saying it was Brazil until someone corrected me.
True that
Pokemon Spain? More like Pokemon Mario 64.
Well, I don't want to insult Mario 64. But the textures are somewhat comparable.
I loved how immersive the environment was in Alola, everything about the game was built around the region. Paldea was the exact opposite of that.

Coromon is so much better than these last titles, not joking, if you enjoy pokemon you will enjoy coromon 3x more.
Also, Coromon creators listen to the community and they update the game for free and added lots and lots of new functions.
You should definitely check it out bro!
@@oMaruMesmo well you’ve piqued my interest lol now i definitely have to check it out
@@twomur_ Hope u enjoy it ❤
Look at any of the fan made games that have been made, we already do
"Describe it to me" is honestly the best argument put in so few words.
I don’t get it. Especially since I suck at describing anything in general.
The only thing more frustrating than these games is the fandom defending it and their complacency.
Yep 3 million copies sold in 3 days. Even if every person who ever watches this video never bought there games again they would never notice.
Spittin
They always argue like you are insulting their mothers.... but as soon as you mention any Xenoblade as point of comparison, they just stop responding. They know it is trash, but they can't accept it because that would made them fee dumb for buying them. It's a weird case od Stockholm syndrome.
The hiding of information this gen is insane. You have to wait about 30 seconds just to see the opponents level when it used to be clear
I tried to get my wife into the last Pokémon game and while she really liked it the point that made her not play it was simply how long some of the moves took and the entering/exiting Pokémon battles. She didn't have nostalgia powering her through the long in and out of battle times.
Now imagine if they kept overreacting in front of you
Could honestly just be a new option for the old, slower type and a new faster style of gameplay
@@TheActMan I can see that being a good entry point, then telling the player they have an option to speed up gameplay once they have a handle on it.
Isn't it called tessalation?
@Taugs Yes, though tesselation is very very expensive. Considering it's on the Switch, they might have went with a cheaper option, like a shader, to give a similar effect. Not sure if they did that here, just a thought.
It probably is someone like you making this game. Feels like they pulled a few people off of fiver to develop it.
@@RAC00NFANGIRL me too, but I highly doubt if gamefreak will ever do it at this point
I was just thinking "was it THAT hard to incorporate every good aspects of past games and listen to fans". Ideally I'd think of S/V DLC to include a fully functionable national dex (and actually everyone up to this point would be usable), megas and Z-moves (some pokemon have exclusive z-moves but other use generic ones), and many more. but whatever gf decides to do
there was a statement ages ago about pokemon being the proof of "if aint broke, dont fix it"
well its started to be broke for awhile now. with sales continuing to soar and somehow a company who decides the game launch WILL coordinate with merch instead of when its ready... yeah, you can tell the core team who was making these games is probably long gone
You're missing out on Black 2 and White 2. They were some of best games in the series!
Well he said these games were worse than sword and shield somehow so he’s either got the absolute worst taste or he doesn’t know shit about Pokémon.
I second this
FR
Can confirm, Black 2 slapped!
I third this, they're amazing
@@atrane365but srsly the lag is so bad you have time to consult chat gpt between each text box and get a 5 page essay answer. clearly they messed something up big time
@@atrane365there's a mod on nexus that speeds up the combat a lot, game freak could have easily done that
Dude I said the exact words day one regarding the confusion text chain and stat changes and that’s probably my biggest gripe.
Gamefreak is applying the logic of DS development to the switch and it isn't working
I left the franchise after playing SWSH, and buy BoTW and monster hunter rise instead of the DLC
I've never played SWSH again, but dumped hours on the two games

This game was so bad I’m going to pirate their games from now on. No more robbery of my money
It started failing in gen 6. Gen 5 was superb with the pokemon world tournament, and the dream world pokemon you could use in the main game were solid.
@@williethenerfherder2193 I would say SM is the first one to show the problem within GF
@@TheFriskySquid good lord dude stop defending scarlet and violet
@@brohogany9920 Is it bad to defend good parts of the game? Like do people seriously want pokemon to not be pokemon anymore? Yeah I HATE pokemon battles and I certainly hate catching pokemon and getting gym badges too.
Weirdo. I only defend the good parts, the performance is bad, there are no sidequests, and the towns have no interiors. Other than that it is just a pokemon game with bad performance. I would change nothing other than those I mentioned.
@@brohogany9920 I don’t think he was defending it. I think he was saying what was true about it.
