Hey Guys! Welcome to another episode of thrift store makeovers/thrift flips. I love hunting through thrift stores to find old, rejected items and then decorating them and putting my own style on them to turn them into new pieces of art. Today I decided to use an antique clutch (satchel lol) and I decorated it using leather paints.
I hope you like bright, colorful designs, and butterflies! Also, bringing back the fruit theme so get ready for that.

Hey! my name is Moriah (pronounced muh-rye-yuh 😂 ) and this is my channel....obviously. I'm 25 and like doing anything creative...and being snarky.....just a lil. I make a lot of decorating and painting videos here. I'm obsessed with editing and adding lil bits to my videos, so if that's not your thing....oof you may hate this haha. I paint on squishies, thrift store finds, and other random things I pick up. I also love to draw, but don't expect anything too skilled, I'm not the best at that haha. You will also find occasional crafting/testing crafting kits on my channel which are always a hot mess. And even some baking (REALLY bad at that, but it's fun to try LOL).

I now know how I can repair my purse! I have mango yellow purse that I just love, but outside is getting pretty worn out. The paint is flaking off, but I bet I could revive it using leather paints and I could add fun details while I'm at it.

Fun fact.. That’s a vintage Aigner leather purse. High end in its day. Still relevant company today actually.

As a baby artist I love when u describe what ur doing when mixing. Like adding the orange to blue etc...and why it works. Because I don't know this stuff and I love it when someone explains it the way u do.
The "satchels" makeover was definitely an upgrade, maybe there's a way you can add straps to it if there's any chance you still want to take it out....

Be prepared for further mind blown-ness!
It used to be that women's fashion allowed for the carrying of vast quantities of stuff, secreted about the person - the panniers under those big skirts used to have pockets in and you could basically store your shopping in them (also why the panniers on bikes got their name - from being something to store stuff in) and your money and your -revolutionary manifesto- reading materials and all manner of things. Anyway, during the French revolution there was a major crack down on this sort of thing as legally it was not allowed to search a woman's body or clothing since that would be improper. But they also knew that women were reading (shock horror) and distributing (even bigger horror) revolutionary texts since they had that protection and the clothing to allow it. So in order to cut down on that, they started promoting clothing fashions which favoured sleeker silhouettes that clung to the figure, perhaps even somewhat sheer (or very sheer - Regency era clothing was favoured to be practically see-through, sources comment on nipples being visible at times!). And as a result of that, there weren't really places to secrete stuff away within the clothing itself. And so instead women had to start carrying little pouches to keep things in, which were of course searchable as they could be removed without indecency, unlike clothing. And were small enough to only be able to contain a small amount of necessities and certainly not reams of texts. They were also basically clutches, limiting the use of one's hands (the other being required to hold a fan).
And fashion has yet to see the return of decently sized pockets for women's fashion. All because some rich old white men were scared of women trying to spread equality.... Times haven't changed all that much have they? lol
Anyway, fuck those guys for stealing our pockets.

I think maybe what's missing is maybe a few tropical flowers for these wandering picnic butterflies to pollinate. The original clutch has a nice mature leather colour and a different painter could have worked with that, but the new one looks like what you keep your passport or map or cosmetics in on some tropical cruise or vacation and it's a fun statement piece.
