honestly, I dont want everything in a packout. Notice how much smaller the 1/4" blowmolded case is compared to the packout. It's so bulky for how many tools it holds and it doesn't open flat like almost every other socket set ever made so you cannot just slide it under your car when working on it. Every other socket set in the world opens flat.
@@kevinliang9502 thanks for chiming in. I like them for some applications. But by no means all, like you said. What I’ve noticed with the Packout is if you toss it in a carpeted trunk, it stays put. No sliding around banging into shit. But I sure don’t want them to use for tossing into a tool or go bag.
I bought the big set 3/8 1/4 for my use its perfect but i did study all the buying options since i was able to buy the insert for 2$ as some one else returned it to home depot.
@@toolsaddiction nice! The ones I’ve seen position both ratchets separately from the socket tray so swapping to a narrow packout requires figuring out wtf to about the ratchet.
@@gtcam723yeah i have the set with both ratchet in the middle, i leave the kit on top of my packout drawer tower with a small box on top it works great since i dont use socket and ratchet all the time. If you buy 2 smaller kits with packout you end up with 2 3/8 ratchet in my case i dont see the point. The full case is heavy enough that if i had to lug it everywhere by hand all the time id probably stick to the smaller kit. Also an issue with the big kit is that the metric and sae are separted i think i would have preferred to have the separation on 3/8 on one side and 1/4 on the other side
I admit that was dumb of millwaukee don't get me wrong I do like the original case but the pack out is extra added bling it really would of been nice if it was universal I thought about that when I had my 56 peice 3/8 master set when I found out that the pack out wasn't compatible I was pissed I loved that set but unfortunately it got stolen from me uhg
@@Donthetoolman yeah might have to venture down the 3D printing hole or, maybe make a tray from wood? Then one could have the flexibility to use a deeper narrow case and put it all in one. Now I’m thinking via text.
Yeah, they pretty much just expect you to pay 150 ish$ for the sockets and pack out or they want you to buy the special foam, to hold your tools, which is also way overpriced aswell
They don’t seem to have a 1/4” only tray to fit yet that also has room for the ratchet because they have the 1/4” & 3/8” set in the full width Packout, where they put it in the middle section. Thanks for chiming in as well!
They haven’t done one yet that’s the 1/4” only. They have one for the large Packout where they store the ratchets in the middle and it’s 3/8 on one side and 1/4” on the other. So because the ratchet is in middle tray it doesn’t translate well to 1/4” only Thanks for chiming in!

Agreed!
You can buy the packout insert but the trick was to buy it bundled with the packout box
Yep. You’d think for the sake of simplicity in sourcing and inventory and such, they’d use the same one. Lol
Thanks for chiming in.

@@toolsaddiction anymore, I can make do with just metric for most stuff.

@@Donthetoolman sorry to hear it was stolen. For whatever reason, I’m partial to the narrow Packouts. Can’t really explain why.
@gtcam723 thanks bro yeah it sucks really liked that set I agree on the narrow tool cases

@gtcam723 wood sounds cool kinda vintage and I like vintage
Milwaukee screwed up on that set!! Thanks for the heads up!!!

You can (likely) get a tray for it as well... Still not ideal but an option.
And at that, it’s the double case.

So you'd have to buy there special packout socket sets
Or just a new tray.

At the moment it seems that is a 3d print world.
Thank you also for chiming in.
