    I agree with the same top 3 tools for working on cars. Although i love that new high torque. Put it to work this past weekend changing out the whole front end on my armada. Mid torque wouldn't move those wheel hub or lower control arm bolts.

    • @BlakesGarage
      @BlakesGarage  8 месяцев назад +1

      Yeah wheel hub usually requires the high torque those are no joke. But I’m surprised it wouldn’t do the control arms those are usually not bad. Were they rusty?

    • @meltdownblitz
      @meltdownblitz 8 месяцев назад +1

      @BlakesGarage Not really rusty but the bolts were seized in the metal sleeves in the control arm bushings. I tried to get movement or break them off with the high torque but the high torque wouldn't budge. I had to cut them out.

    I bought 2 high speed ratchets in 3/8 and modified one to 1/4 so I got a super long 1/4 ratchet. The thing about the insider is that I’m afraid to loose the adapters and then ill have nothing. Just rather have 2 dedicated ratchets.

    I just picked up the 1/2 stubby as my first dedicated automotive impact wrench. However, I’m seeing a lot of people are preferring the 3/8 over the 1/2. What am I losing with the 1/2 that I would get more out of the 3/8?
    Quite new to the tool world lol.

    • @jessflores77
      @jessflores77 6 месяцев назад +1

      My thought process behind it was that I’m not going to be doing huge jobs by myself. Primarily break work, oil changes and tire rotations. Just the basic maintenance stuff. Didn’t see myself needing anything larger than the M12 at this point, so I just figured the 1/2 was a better do it all at the moment

    • @BlakesGarage
      @BlakesGarage  6 месяцев назад +1

      The reason I prefer three eights over half inch is for the most part 3/8 sockets are just smaller and just happen to be the go to size for most everything for having to step up to a larger size socket for larger bolts. So for small things is the best but if you have a good selection, you should be fine.

    So I have the 1/4 hex fuel m18 impact (for carpentry) and I put the 3/8 adapter on it for cars……..how does that compare to the stubby 3/8 impact wrench? Should I get the m12 stubby or is that sufficient?

    • @BlakesGarage
      @BlakesGarage  8 месяцев назад

      The fuel M1 impacts are awesome for screws and whatever you gotta do in carpentry. However, the stubby 3/8 is a real bad ass for any sort of bolts. For example, I would rather drive large lag bolts with a impact wrench over an impact driver.

    • @eve__________
      @eve__________ 8 месяцев назад

      Honestly any impact wrench greatly outperforms any impact driver in terms of working on vehicles. I work on Mack trucks and some peterbuilts and I’ll only use a driver on interior screws if I want to get the job done quickly in there. Anything outside the impacts wrenches come out.

    • @gerrybrown2552

      All I have is the m12 fuel impact driver with a right angle adapter, as a weekend mechanic, it does it all. For bigger bolts. Just use a breaker bar and finish it off with the driver.
