  • This is an unboxing of the YIHUA 948DB PLUS-II T12 soldering station that I purchased from Lazada in Thailand for 1350 Baht (approximately $38 USD).
I've made this video as I couldn't find much information about this particular T12 station apart for basic info on the Yihua website. I hope it will be useful to anyone considering this unit.

Hello, does the sleep mode and auto shutdown works?

Got mine a few days ago from Amazon. It came with 3 tips conical, chisel and knife. The conical and chisel tips are unstable at temperatures above 400°C the knife isn't. Have you ran into any issues like that, wherein the temperature just fluctuates erratically from the set temperature?

No I haven't, but I don't operate it much above 370. What are you soldering at those temperatures? If it's larger items acting like a heat sink the unit might be trying to regulate the iron, thus the fluctuations?

@@damienrichardsonphotography I was testing the station out at those temps, I won't be using those high temps because the tips get oxidized rapidly. I did some digging and it's a known issue with the Chinese made T12 tips, they basically skipped a process so the end user has to it. running the tips threw a few heat cycles should fix the issue, and think it has fixed mine.

How is it going so far? Does it work correctly?

Yeah. Still going strong. I've since bought a chisel style tip which greatly improved the iron's usability

Sorry for the late reply. I was happy enough with the grounding check to not bother opening the casing but I can understand why you would be interested in that. I may give it a go soon and I'll post a follow up.
