  • Part 1 of my EV conversion of my 2008 Vespa PX125. I converted my Vespa using Retrospective Scooters' EV Conversion Kit:
    www.retrospectivescooters.com...
I also followed Retrospective Scooters' video on removing an engine from a PX125:
    • Vespa PX Quick Engine ...
Prior to this project, I had never turned a wrench on a Vespa and never attempted this type of EV conversion. I have no mechanical or electrical training; I am just another shade tree mechanic fitting these types of projects into my weekends.
Since completing this, Retrospective Scooters has started selling a revised conversion kit that uses the chassis ground (unlike mine) and allows you to plug into the existing wiring harness. This was not possible with my kit, so I removed 99% of the old wiring. There was therefore a bit more effort involved in connecting the gauge cluster lights and indicators, but overall, it wasn't too bad.
If anyone is interested in doing this conversion, I highly recommend purchasing Retrospective Scooters' kit. I have zero regrets.

Just curious what the weight difference is between the original scooter and the electrified one. Which is lighter?
