    Hi Stephanie!!!!!!!!!! I made those cookies but I did alter a bit your recipe in using (sugar free) natural peanut butter and reducing both white granulated sugar and brown sugar a bit. I did put slightly less butter. My students in Shanghai had a blast! They are learning French with me and having cooking classes! Thank you very very very much indeed! You are so inspirational!

      Right? I absolutely love watching Stephenie demonstrate the recipes. I think I've developed a Pavlovian response to the clicking noise of her mixer head being lifted and lowered.

    I just wanted you to know how much I appreciate having ingredients given in the metric system. I weigh all my dry ingredients and I get the same finished product every time.

    I love it that you also add what it is in grams and celsius, otherwise it is so confusing since I love in the netherlands and we use grams and celsius :)

    Baking powder consists of baking soda, one or more acid salts (cream of tartar and sodium aluminum sulfate) plus cornstarch to absorb any moisture so a reaction does not take place until a liquid is added to the batter. Baking soda, also known as sodium bicarbonate or bicarbonate of soda (alkali) is about four times as strong as baking powder. It is used in recipes that contain an acidic ingredient.

    i'm not a huge fan of peanut butter cookies but made these last night and they turned out to be the best i ever had! topped them with m&m's :D also, watch out because the edges don't really turn brown so i can see how easy it would be to overcook them. aside from the burnt bottom you'll know its over cooked if it crumbles easily right after you take it out the oven

  • @joyofbaking
    @joyofbaking  11 лет назад +2

    If your batter is soft, I would chill it first so the cookies won't spread during baking.

      I made them and they were fantastic. Even better I took a third of the mix and added dry muesli to it so I ended up with a peanut butter crunchy thing that I love even more than the standard ones. Next time I'm doing that and will maybe add some extra raisins or sultanas.
      Thanks again, Stephanie.

    Made these cookies over the weekend. Delicious cookies! Only trouble was the oil started separating and oozed out of the mix. Maybe because I've used all Natural peanut butter. Maybe should have reduced the amount of butter slightly. will try again and see how it turns out.

    I made these cookies the other day and they came out just wonderful, everybody liked them. :) I addes chopped salted peanuts, which made that sweet and salty contrast even more prominent.
    I have one question. What's the reason for using baking soda in this recipe? I mean baking soda is activated by acid and there's no acidic ingredient here.
