This 2003 beauty is still my favourite, even in 2024. It produces beautiful 'painterly images in colour, and does a great Tri-X impersonation at ISO 800 in B&W.
Brings back memories, my first digital SLR it never threw a ‘tantrum’ and was very very reliable and pretty enjoyable to handle and use too…Thanks for The Memories..!😇
Fantastic images! I also use mid-2000 DSLRs (Sony A390 APS-C & A850 full frame) for my collection of Minolta & Tamron AFs. I'm also using and reversing Minolta MC/MDs for manual & extreme macro with extension tubes. While I can tweek the RAW CMOS image from the ff in post processing, the A390 's sensor is a perfect "Kodachrome replica" on jpg.
Hello!! These pictures are amazing, i have the same camera and i see it has a build in feature in the hardwear to take pictures with flash, but i simply can not figure out how to make the flsh pop up!!! Any advice?
How do you like the color rendering from this pentax? Does Olympus 300 win in your opinion? I recommend 50 1.4 from pentax to it one of the best fifty kopecks in general from all systems and not as expensive as the lim series
I love the color rendering, I agree with you on the 50mm Pentax 1.4. Classic! The Olympus E300 has a Kodak sensor, the Pentax *ist D has a Sony. Yes, the E-300 wins because it's so saturated. However, the *ist D is terrific, I'm now using it with an autofocusing Sigma 18-50mm 3.5-5.6 and am amazed.
Bonjour, The camera takes regular SD cards. However, as mentioned on the Pentax Forum: 'the *ist DS should be able to accept up to 32GB SD or SDHC card as long as you have the latest firmware upgrade of 2.02. If you do not have this firmware level your camera won't accept higher than an 2GB SD card.' Cheers, S.
CCD goodness 😁👍

Thank you for the comment and the ISO tip! I look forward to trying it.

Thank you! There's a small button to the left on the flash, it makes it pop up.
