Not as far as I know. From what I understand, the Echo Show devices with an aux port are output only and dont support input so there's no option to change in the app.
It doesnt want to load the page for the line in or out AUX... says try again later. And never loads. Are you having this issue? Know anyway to troubleshoot it?
I have Alexa connected to a PC. Do I need to disconnect Alexa from previous ? Do I need Internet because I don't remember I needed it but Alexa complains can't connect to Internet.
It should still output the audio via Bluetooth, but the echos check every few minutes for Internet access and will always complain if they don't have an Internet connection. Plus if you say the alexa word she may try to disconnect from the Bluetooth connection.
Just to note it only works on the flagship echos and not on the Echo dots. So if you're trying with a dot it won't work as they only support audio out. The newer, bigger echos support out and in.
In this example it's 4.0 but the pin issue is a common issue to a lot of people. It seems like most people have resolved by resetting the speaker. You can also try 0000 but this only works occasionally.
Fyi, the aux is only supported on the flagship echos, not the smaller ones like the Echo dots. Although they have an audio port, it's out only. Only the larger ones like the Echo Orb and older big echos have the option in the Alexa app to change to audio in.
Thanks for your video Andy but this didn't work for me and I don't know why. I've checked my devices list and all looks fine there, my Echo device just doesn't want to find my PC (which is sitting next to it!). Any ideas?

My echo is connected to my PC, but the audio isn't being played through the echo device. I've restarted my PC and echo device, still no sound from PC to Echo. Also, I have told my volume mixer to play the sound from Google to the echo device. What am I doing wrong?
I've seen a lot of people with the same issue. Seems like they don't like connecting to PCs. You're best options are to see if you can update the Bluetooth drivers in windows. Other people have commented that if they reset the Google device it sometimes works but this isn't ideal.
Its not supported by the dots btw, its only supported by the flagship echos. If you have one of the newer echos you can try seeing if there's a software update for the app or the device.
No unfortunately not. This is just using the built in Bluetooth in the speaker like any other BT enabled speaker so its not possible to add to the Alexa app.
Seems to be a recurring issue for several people, and sometimes updating Bluetooth drivers in windows solves the issue. Also check when the device is connected in Windows settings if the Echo is selected as the default output device or if it shows in the dropdown at all. If not seems like the quickest fix is to reset the speaker but check out some of the other comments in case anyone else found a different fix.
By default Windows will only output to one audio device at a time, so if you plug in headphones into the PC, you'll need to right click on the volume icon and go to sound settings and select the headphones as the output. Sometimes windows detects new outputs and switches, but most of the time you have to tell it which device to output to.
The dots don't support changing the direction of the aux port. It's audio out only, won't support audio in so the option doesn't show in the app. Only the larger echos seem to support it, and even then not all of them. :(
So interestingly I've spoken with people who have managed to do this by Bluetooth connecting both, but it doesn't seem to work for me. Definitely worth trying using the stereo option in the app and maybe adding as an additional device on the PC itself, but it may or may not work for you.
I read somewhere that once you plug the line into the Echo Plus to use it as a speaker, the mic is automatically disabled and you can't give Alexa commands until you unplug the 3.5mm cable. Is this true? I want to get one to use as a computer speaker as well but i also want to give Alexa commands without having to unplug the cord .
Unfortunately, the minute you give it an Alexa command, the speaker reverts to its default. So yes, this is kinda true. You can't have the best of both worlds.
If its the same with both echo devices it would suggest that the issue is with the PC. If the PC is using something like Bluetooth 2.0 maybe there is a conflict with other BT devices? Just a guess though. :( also i do know that certain Alexa commands can cause her to disconnect from bluetooth, for example playing Spotify will disconnect to give priority to the streaming service.
The echo dots only seem to support audio out, not audio in, so it won't act as a speaker I'm afraid and there's no way to change this in the app :( Only works with the larger echos where you can change from audio in to out via the app.
Does it need an app to work? I cannot get the app to download on my phone (says my phone is not compatible). Also the Echo is never discovered on my Windows 10 PC
Doesn't expressly need the app if you're connecting via bluetooth, but lots of people seem to have the same issue. Best is to see if there's any updates to your windows drivers and tbh, it's easier to pair and switch on the bluetooth with the app. See if you can connect the speaker to your phone via bluetooth first as this tends to be easier, and once you've figured that out, you should be able to do the same with your PC. If you're using cable (aux) you'll need the app to change the input method, and this only works on the larger flagship echo's and not on the smaller ones like the echo dot.
@@AndysTechLife thank you so much for your help. Much appreciated. Everything is up to date. My new TV new laptop does not discover the Echo on either my laptop or TV. The Echo just flashes with a blue light. I am sure there is something wrong with the Echo, as all my other devices are working both on Bluetooth and Wifi
You could try resetting the echo and see if asking it to turn on Bluetooth once reset works. Seems to work for some people. Not ideal to reset but it fixes some times.
Havent tried this myself but in theory it should work. The only think is the echo might stop as it tries to reestablish a network connection. Also there's no way of changing the setting from aux out to in if its an echo plus without connecting to the Internet to change the setting.
My mini pc only has a headphone socket. When I connect this socket to the echo with a 3.5 cable, it works ok, but when the pc is off I get a humming from the speaker. The Jack on the cable doesn’t go fully into the pc socket and this seems to be the cause of the hum - is there a way of fixing this?
That's very strange as the 3.5 jacks should all be the same and standard, so if it's not fitting fully, I'd suggest carefully checking if there's any dust or dirt blocking it from going in completely. The buzzing is caused by improper contact between the contacts on the jack and the cable, so this won't be fixed until you get the cable to go in correctly. :( Hope you get it sorted!
Hey Andy, great video. I own a few echo dots (3rd gen) and a Echo Show 5. I'm thinking about buying a Echo 4th gen. I see that it will connect as a bluetooth speaker. Will it work as a microphone and well? Thank you!
No unfortunately not, they all just work the same as any other Bluetooth speaker in this mode so the microphone doesn't work. So if you're thinking of using for video calls this won't work I'm afraid :( it would be great if they worked more like a Bluetooth headset in this way but it's just audio out.

I'd check if there's an update for the device and the app, because it's an Echo plus I'm using in my office. There's a good guide to which have aux in and out here: decortweaks.com/does-amazon-echo-have-an-aux-input/
Shouldnt be asking for one, but you might try 0000 or 000000. I've only ever come across this issue with Google devices. You might ask the device to 'turn on Bluetooth' (Alexa) and see if she replies with a pin or any other information.
@@AndysTechLife ill try 000000. I tried 1234, 1111,0000, etc etc and nothing. Then i asked to alexa what is her bt pin and she doesnt know. It can be due to im using a 2.0 bt antenna?
Not sure what you mean by a P2 cable, but yes this will work as an output speaker. Just be aware though, depending on your setup and Bluetooth drivers there may be an audio delay that can be noticeable, particularly with video.

Good idea and good video.. we have a few alexa smart speakers at home but want ask do you rate them or the Google nest as being better... cheers. btw I assume you can access the alexa settings from your pc also??
The speakers I think are better sound from the Echos but in truth the recognition is probably better from the Google speakers but this depends on what you're doing. Amazon has marginally better integrations with smart devices simply since they've been around later. Even with the difference in recognition I'm sticking with Amazon though as there's a bigger range of devices and a little more flexibility. In terms of settings you can goto alexa.amazon.co.uk (or .com) and this web page will let you control all your settings.
First of all thanks for video! Is there way to synchronize bluetooth audio volume with Windows? I have also Google Nest Mini 2 and it automatically synchronize volume with Windows. Alexa always operate separately. Thanks!
Doesn't seem like it, I've also noticed that any Alexa command or output adjusts the volume again which is really frustrating. Will let you know if I figure anything out.
@@AndysTechLife For now I started to use at least 'brief mode' so it doesn't scream at 2am 'ok' when I just need to turn off light and just make quiet 'beep' sound. I have also bed higher in room (2 floor room) and turned on 'start request sound' so I know that Alexa hears me.
@@AndysTechLife I would also appreciate some option to make different volume level for bluetooth audio at all. I use Echo Dot 4 as PC speaker too and I need to keep it at volume 3-4 to have enough volume for bluetooth while for assistent itself it's fairly high volume. Best would be to have option to choose.
Only if your PC can connect and stream to two Bluetooth devices at once. Generally you would have to choose one output or another. You can't use the grouping feature from the Alexa app as the audio is being streamed straight over Bluetooth and not WiFi.
The aux option only works with the flagship larger echoes. If you have a dot or any of the smaller ones, the aux option doesn't apply. These smaller ones only do audio out whereas the larger ones can switch from audio in and out.

So the 3.5 jack will work if you have a flagship Echo. Hope this helps.

So I'm having a problem. My computer is connected to my echo and the computer sounds come out through the echo, but any time I play sound through my browser (chrome) the sound comes out through my laptop speakers. Do you know how to fix this?

It should still output the audio via Bluetooth, but the echos check every few minutes for Internet access and will always complain if they don't have an Internet connection. Plus if you say the alexa word she may try to disconnect from the Bluetooth connection.
For some reason I do not see the option for an aux option. Do you know how to fix this issue?
Just to note it only works on the flagship echos and not on the Echo dots. So if you're trying with a dot it won't work as they only support audio out. The newer, bigger echos support out and in.
I am use Bluetooth V 2.0 - after searching device need to enter a pin, but don't know what is pin. Which Bluetooth version is use in this video ?
In this example it's 4.0 but the pin issue is a common issue to a lot of people. It seems like most people have resolved by resetting the speaker. You can also try 0000 but this only works occasionally.
@@AndysTechLife thank you fro your reply, already try many time before, but 0000 not working, How to reset the speaker ? have any process ?
Needs to be done in the app to fully reset. Otherwise I think it's a combination of holding down buttons on powering on.
I don't have the aux option and I can't do Bluetooth ahhhh this is painful
Fyi, the aux is only supported on the flagship echos, not the smaller ones like the Echo dots. Although they have an audio port, it's out only. Only the larger ones like the Echo Orb and older big echos have the option in the Alexa app to change to audio in.
Thanks for your video Andy but this didn't work for me and I don't know why. I've checked my devices list and all looks fine there, my Echo device just doesn't want to find my PC (which is sitting next to it!). Any ideas?
Best thing to check is that the default windows sound output device is the Echo and no other device. If that doesn't work the only other things that seem to work are updating windows BT drivers and if that fails you can try resetting the Echo. Not ideal but it seems to work for a lot of people.
disturbing them? bro you should be wanting to do that stuff with your family lmaoo
I can't seem to find the aux setting in the alexa app
Its not supported by the dots btw, its only supported by the flagship echos. If you have one of the newer echos you can try seeing if there's a software update for the app or the device.
Is it possible to pair two echo pop to a PC?
No unfortunately the PC will only output to one at a time, do stereo isn't possible. :(
@@AndysTechLife :( thank you
Can we connect the speaker to my pc with windows alexa app .
No unfortunately not. This is just using the built in Bluetooth in the speaker like any other BT enabled speaker so its not possible to add to the Alexa app.
Mine connect to the pc but it doesn’t show to play back as speaker
Seems to be a recurring issue for several people, and sometimes updating Bluetooth drivers in windows solves the issue. Also check when the device is connected in Windows settings if the Echo is selected as the default output device or if it shows in the dropdown at all. If not seems like the quickest fix is to reset the speaker but check out some of the other comments in case anyone else found a different fix.
if i plug headphones into my pc will i get sound? i cant find an answe to this anywhere
By default Windows will only output to one audio device at a time, so if you plug in headphones into the PC, you'll need to right click on the volume icon and go to sound settings and select the headphones as the output. Sometimes windows detects new outputs and switches, but most of the time you have to tell it which device to output to.
@@AndysTechLife ok thank you so much
Audio aux option not available I'm using Alexa eco dot 3
The dots don't support changing the direction of the aux port. It's audio out only, won't support audio in so the option doesn't show in the app. Only the larger echos seem to support it, and even then not all of them. :(
Do you think is possibile to use in stereo pairing a couple of these? Thank you
So interestingly I've spoken with people who have managed to do this by Bluetooth connecting both, but it doesn't seem to work for me.
@@AndysTechLife Thanks for telling me. I had it on my Amazon shopping cart. I'm deleting it now.
The Echo 4th Generation can do it. That's the one I have now.
I’ve just bought the gen 4 and have the gen 1 dot. I have it connected but the sound just cuts in and out, all Bluetooth drivers are up to date aswell
I'm not getting AUX Audio option on my Alexa app even after connecting my mobile to echo Dot. Can you please help me out here?
The echo dots only seem to support audio out, not audio in, so it won't act as a speaker I'm afraid and there's no way to change this in the app :( Only works with the larger echos where you can change from audio in to out via the app.
Thanks for the video. I did work and now I do not have to purchase extra speakers or add more wires to my setting. Thanks again.
Not ideal to reset but it fixes some times.
i have this annoying thing where alexa just announces everytime it connects to my computers Bluetooth. do you know any way to solve this problem?
No, this is a pain but seems to happen no matter what I do :(
hurraaaayyyy it worked .....
can I used its aux input even without the internet connection?
Havent tried this myself but in theory it should work. The only think is the echo might stop as it tries to reestablish a network connection. Also there's no way of changing the setting from aux out to in if its an echo plus without connecting to the Internet to change the setting.
@@AndysTechLifecool, thanks😊
Legend! Thank you so much
Hey Andy, great video.

I couldn't find the aux settings in my Alexa app for my echo plus
I'd check if there's an update for the device and the app, because it's an Echo plus I'm using in my office. There's a good guide to which have aux in and out here: decortweaks.com/does-amazon-echo-have-an-aux-input/
Oof no bluetooth on my desktop and I got Echo 5th generation so no aux input. Was hoping that I could use the Alexa app on my PC through wifi.
Afraid not. It's a pity it really should support wifi streaming...
Hey Andy! My pc keep telling me to put a pin code to connect to Echo Dot 4 gen. :/

So my Echo Dot doesn't work with P2 Cable? But I can Make it work with Bluetooth, and watch Movies and listen to sounds in Echo Dots, right?
Not sure what you mean by a P2 cable, but yes this will work as an output speaker. Just be aware though, depending on your setup and Bluetooth drivers there may be an audio delay that can be noticeable, particularly with video.
Very Helpful. Appreciate!

BTW I have set up routine to make volume 20$ from 10pm to 7am but I break it when I use is as bluetooth speaker with PC... Let's see with updates :)
One question:
Can we use 2 echo plus or not?
I would like to have 2 speaker and not only one
Only if your PC can connect and stream to two Bluetooth devices at once. Generally you would have to choose one output or another. You can't use the grouping feature from the Alexa app as the audio is being streamed straight over Bluetooth and not WiFi.
@@AndysTechLife i’ve Tried and it works…BUT….i cant turn up o down the volume by mac’s buttons.
Any idea?
@@AndysTechLife ive grouped two Alexa echo dot from MAC SETTINGS.
NOT from alexa app
Cool, so the MAC let's you group multiple BT devices, sweet! Not sure why volume control doesn't work though I'm afraid.
@@AndysTechLife te ah, it works vero nicely but the no volume control problem si so big that brings me not to use this. So sad
it doesnt show the aux cord option on my app??
The aux option only works with the flagship larger echoes. If you have a dot or any of the smaller ones, the aux option doesn't apply. These smaller ones only do audio out whereas the larger ones can switch from audio in and out.
@@AndysTechLife oh ok, Thank you.

Nice video. I was able to pair my Echo (gen 1) to my new Dell laptop (Windows 10) but when I select "Connect" it tries for a few seconds then fails. I've tried it from the PC and from the Alexa app on my phone. I can't seem to find a solution online. My Echo connects easily to my iOS devices. Any ideas?

gedaye mate- i cant get Bluetooth to work on my PC- ive got a 3.5 jack i can go from my pc to the speaker- but i can get it to go- is their some way i can do that without blue tooth- thnaks mate- nice clip.
So the 3.5 jack will work if you have a flagship Echo. So the Echo Dots will only do audio out, but if you have a bigger Echo or Echo plus, the aux port supports audio in and out, and this can be changed in the Alexa app. Several people have reported issues getting the Bluetooth connected and it seems a) updating windows bluetooth drivers and / or b) resetting the Echo seems to help out. Hope this helps.
Ant-Man would’ve been a cool name for that PC
Have another called Ant-Man but you're right, I might rename! :)
Can you use the echo device as a microphone for the pc?

Few people say the same and so far the only fix has been to reset the echo device. Not ideal but seems to work for most people.
@@AndysTechLife how to reset echo?
There's an option in the app to reset, or I think there's a way by holding down the action button on the device as you switch on. This will put it back in setup mode. Hope you'll t works, it's a very frustrating bug.
So I'm having a problem. My computer is connected to my echo and the computer sounds come out through the echo, but any time I play sound through my browser (chrome) the sound comes out through my laptop speakers. Do you know how to fix this?
Check if the echo is the default output device in windows first then in the system sound settings in windows look for Advanced sound settings. There you will see a list of programs and you can choose the output device for each program. Chrome will be shown on this list only if it is playing some sound.
