This amp sounds incredible! Fender, please keep offering handwired reissues of your classic amps. Even if these don't fly off the shelves like Blues Jr, the pros and folks into the vintage stuff really appreciate having this and the American Original line. I love that Chase actually cranked this amp to show off the power tube crunch. I'd be happy plugging straight into one of these and not using any pedals. If the amp is cranked, you can do a lot with your guitar controls and with the reverb and tremolo in the amp.
That is a _sweet_ amp. It also took me a few minutes to realize his guitar is strung in reverse (with the low E closest to the controls). Still blows me away how people play like that.
I saw him in concert the Sunday night and trying to follow what he was playing and it just did not look right, and then it dawned on me playing left handed and strung in reverse. Instant respect! Real good player!
In Denmark we have a guitarist who plays the guitar strung in reverse too. His name is Uffe Steen and his style and sound is very masterful and unique. See for yourself ruclips.net/video/ocS5LsycPcM/видео.html
+Evan Bradley It is mind blowing. But if that's the way you learned, that's the way you play. Albert King, Otis Rush, Eric Gales, Doyle Bramhall ll, the list goes on. It's just what felt most comfortable to them when they first grabbed a guitar as lefthanders. They flipped it over and it worked for them.
My former guitar instructor owns this amp...The silver face version.... Its so dope... Man!!!!! I have fallen in love with these 2 amps... The twin and the deluxe....!!!! And i guess that sir is one of the few guitarists in the whole of Kolkata, who owns a Silver face deluxe reverb.....
I have a 71' and it sounds just like this amp! As for left handed guitar, I am right handed and have a left handed son. I gave him a 69' telecaster thinline and he learned to play it right handed easily! He said it only makes since to him that you play the neck with your dominate hand because it has to do more complicated things. Makes sense to me because he's better than I am! Lol I don't tell him that
i bounced between 4 fender amps before settling on the 68 silverface twin. the new silverfaces will start to overdrive at 4,the blackfaces almost double around 7 or 8 in my experience. the deluxe and vibrolux both sounded great but did not have have the power to fill the room unmiced. The vibrolux came close but i was playing it on 7-10 and at that point there was no headroom left for cleans. you could litteraly kill someone with a twin or make thier day, its a specail beast. FENDER FOREVER!
I love the Twin by man its SO loud and heavy... Seems that this amp was overdriving at 4 as well.... the cheaper 65 reissue has more headroom it seems, better for pedals and still sounds pretty damn good.
Yeah, being left handed is one thing, I myself am one, but playing the strings up side down is incredible really... sure sounds interesting, looks sooo difficult.
Would love to hear the room sound of the amp, I'm sure the amp is a great sounding tone machine but I never judge totally on mic tones. If it sounds like I think it does, I'm definitely having one! \m/
I'm an old dude that had both a real-deal '66 DR when new in 1966 and I got one of these '64 Custom hand-wired models recently too. I was only 15 or 16 at the time but my Mom got that '66 DR for me. I honestly think that the new one sounds as good or BETTER than the '66 I had. The new'64 Customs aren't cheap but worth every penny. Hint: find one used on Reverb... 😉😉
Glad to see the upcoming stars of tomorrow paying tribute to those of the past. Specifically, Jedward. All joking aside, this amp sounds the business. Will just have to wait a few years until they start showing up 2nd hand
Great amp w beautiful tone. Has a hard time hanging w a loud drummer unmic'd tho..The regular 65ri speaker has much more headroom. Just something to thing about before dropping a little over double..
Man, watching this video breaks my heart because I was an idiot in the 90s when I had an original '64, but I needed some cash so I sold it to a guitar store that specialized in high-end instruments & amps. That was stupid. La Grange on this amp sounded just like ZZ Top. It was the exact tone.
I played on an original Super Reverb yesterday. The original leather cover for the amp was in poor shape, but the amp was in amazing shape for being 50 years old. Sounded amazing, took forever to warm up compared to my champ. -lol As far as the Super Reverb I played yesterday, it was all original from my understanding - I can't even imagine something being made so well.
played this amp yesterday! very sweet so toneful 3d tones BUT NOT A LOUD AMP! just right...earlyish Breakup! kicked the shit out of the sterile Tonemaster and beat up 3 delux reverbs next to it in the room! But its pricey
3:48 "and it cleans up very well or it can be very, very- And the one thing I really love..." Huh? He said something Fender didn't like and was edited out?
I just have to say, his facial expressions and hole in the jeans are just absurd lol! I tried watching but kept busting out laughing! Well done little guy. :)
Price tag is impressive... Difference between channel one and two ? One bright cap ! Wow, really happy to have two preamp instead of just one with a clever bright on/off switch and, let's say, an original bassman tone stack on the channel one... But hey, Fender can't sold you for an other arm the bassman circuit if they do that. Business is business. Buy, pigeon !
Fender should be doing more handwired reissue amps.. Sweet sounding amp. They could sell a ton of hand wired 58 Bassman amps. ..Would you rather pay 10 grand for an original Bassman? Pay $2800.00 to some amp builder to make you one or spend $2800.00 and get a hand wired Bassman from Fender...? No brainer. .............BTW; sweet Tele Custom!
I bought a used Victoria 45410 for the price of a Bassman LTD, so you could go that route to get a handwired tweed Bassman :). Anyway, this Deluxe Reverb sounds great, just bought a vintage 78' silverface though.
Great choice.. I'm just saying to have "Fender" on the front of a handwired Bassman, would be cool,. But if it came between a Victoria and a Fender reissue Bassman with PCB boards? The Victoria blows it away. No contest, no brainer choice! Victoria makes great, if not the best Fender vintage amp clones....
Yeah the Victoria is a keeper for sure, not THAT heavy for a 4x10 too. Anyway, i played a Fender Tweed bandmaster reissue in a store one day and cranked it up, much to the dislike of the sales man and that sure sounded very fine, it would kinda make sense for them to also reissue the Bassman like that..
It amazes me that they don't do more reissues.... By not reissuing their great amps of the 50's and 1960's they left the door open to all of the boutique clones..Heck the amp I want to see Fender build is a handwired Blackface Vibrolux, but with a single 12" instead of the two 10" speakers. I'd totally buy one.. I picked up a 1968 Super Reverb silverface "drip edge," "black line" locally off of Craigslist cheap. It's in near mint condition. You could eat off the chassis. The early 1968''s still have the AA763 blackface circuit as it was a transition year. Original CTS Alnico speakers. I really like that amp.. Freaking loud though...

@@arnyarny77 well versus a PCB it makes a huge difference and tonally there is a massive difference with a less complex, more linear circuit. Just side by side this and a '65 DRRI into the same speaker, if that doesn't clear things up for you, go get your ears checked.
Fender's biggest mistake in my opinion is not having ALL their tube amps made in Mexico with hand wired turret board construction. They pay the labor down there just over $6 an hour. Any amp can be hand wired in less than 6 hours. Having discrete components (NOT having pots built into printed circuit boards for instance) would only cost a few additional dollars. They could have all their amps hand wired for only around $100 to 150 more. If you could get a hand wired Hot Rod Deluxe for $850 for example, Fender would immediately dominate the amp market.
Why fender hasn't done this long ago is beyond me.They let a Boutique market steal their thunder.I will.compare this to my Imperial. The conversation on this demo is great,he does an amazing job telling us about. The amp.I. just wish the playing was a bit more sophisticated. I was to Hard on this guy.
I bought an amp like this 3 month ago but I don't have the same sound. Mine is harsh and crisp, a total disappointment. I hope it's a problem of my amp. Maybe I can have a best sound changing tubes and speaker
No it's not. The current 65 reissue PCB version is 1000 bucks full retail, made in Mexico and is baltic ply - not a bad amp, I have one, but this one is handwired, solid pine and made in the USA. Stuff some NOS 6V6 tubes in here and you're golden till the end of your life.
Oh Chase, your mom and my ma is driving me nuts. Call your mamma cuz. Good Demo though. Its weird how all the grand kids of Eddie Bryant play guitar or bass. Damon wants you to contact him, we haven't seen you in 20 years dude.

Took me a minute of head scratching before I realized this man has his strings upside down!!! Pretty neat.
yeah and plays left handed guitar as a left handed person

Check out Eric Gales. Best guitar player I've ever heard and he has his strings upside down.

Dick dale as well!
As to my mind it`s one of the best sounding and versitale amp from Fender. Great for any strat and tele. I`m extremely need it

0:10 - very soulful body sways.
2:54 - cool cowboy boots engaging the foot pedal.
5:45 - hair moves very slightly with head bang.
Thanks to Fender for continuing to think of their customers and the sound
EXCELLENT! You are a gifted man indeed! That amp sounds killer...and your musicianship is outstanding!
That break up is gorgeous, especially with the trem and reverb.
Loved the "Fast as You" kind of outro. That was cool. Great amp!
The verbal description is great, He's a good player ,I just wish we could have heard more .

Finally a company review that makes their product sound amazing!!!
Great amp, but I think the star of the show here is that Tele
Just throwing it out there: In a gear video he says it's an '04 Masterbuilt Fender Tele with a PAF humbucker and Lollar bridge pickup
Absolutely, That's one of the best sounding tele's I've ever heard bar none.
Yeah, being left handed is one thing, I myself am one, but playing the strings up side down is incredible really... sure sounds interesting, looks sooo difficult.

Cool job Chase. Didn't know you were such a good picker too. Nice Phoenix backdrop btw...
Finally a bit of lefty love from Fender :D

I supported Fender for years and in thousand posts on TGP since I bought my first Fender guitar.
EDIT: ... Think of all those happy owners...
This is the best amp Fender has ever created!!

It's all in the fingers and they display your personality. Be brave and hear!
Great Demo, it's fresh, according to this really good guitar player ! what mics are using in this demo ? everything sounds really good, warm and big
That's it! I'm learning how to play my guitar again!
Damn! That sucks! How much did they give you for it?
We've all done stupid stuff like that. I had a 65 reissue which I sold. Not sure why the hell I did it!
all the gear we SHOULD'VE kept. Well.... live and learn and buy more gear... to keep! You'll be old someday. So will your gear.
Sounds amazing. I love that amp
That tele looks great
'turning it up to about 10'
Just about 10.
If it really sounded this clean without the hiss would be amazing. Would have been cool to add 2018 technology to vintage known.
I’ll take a Super Reverb handwired please.
I actually have a real 65. I just don't want to take it on the road haha
played this amp yesterday! very sweet so toneful 3d tones BUT NOT A LOUD AMP! just right...earlyish Breakup! kicked the shit out of the sterile Tonemaster and beat up 3 delux reverbs next to it in the room! But its pricey
Its 20 Watts , the other reissues are 22 Watts. This is because before 65 they were 20 Watts.
great demo 👍🏻
he's play his damn guitar upside down! what the flying heck is that all about? holy crap!
hes weird
@@BG-hc1qm left-handed guitarists don't (typically) string their guitars upside down.
Sounds great. Good player too.
Srv made me want to actually play guitar... he used fender..... there is no limit..... badass!!
How about the speaker plug? Is it a metal Switchcraft or a molded one that flexes when the rear board hits it,like your other amps?
3:48 "and it cleans up very well or it can be very, very- And the one thing I really love..." Huh? He said something Fender didn't like and was edited out?
Think he said "very dirty"
Who owns Fender, the grandson of Joseph Stalin?
Insane sound
This amp sounds great, I'm sold (if I had 2500 bucks)
Great amp and great playing. I would go and buy one tomorrow if I didn't think my wife would kill me.
That’s hilarious!!!
I love my tonemaster and could never truly use a tube deluxe as intended but the tube version has better overdrive
Does it come with Teflon wire on the footswitch or did you go for something more reliable?
Amazing amp
I want that Tele!
I’d like to hear thoughts on the ‘64 Custom Fender Deluxe Reverb RI (Handwired).
Did you use any effects to reach the overdrive sound?
What's the guitar he is playing at 2:09? is it a 52 reissue?
no it has a humbucker in neck so not a real 52 ri
What kind of watch is he wearing? I like it.
I just have to say, his facial expressions and hole in the jeans are just absurd lol! I tried watching but kept busting out laughing! Well done little guy. :)
Makes my head hurt that the wound strings are on the bottom...

I wonder what it sounds like next to a regular reissue? Can it be much better?
Good demo
do you play a standard E to E sting set up as well or?
So no one is going to talk about the fact that this dude's Tele is strung upside down?
Sounds awesome! But watching this hurts my brain. His strings are on upside down???!
What is the coolest? This guy or this amp?
Are there any less expensive amps that sounds like this amp?
no
Fender, buy that poor man some proper pants. Hand-wire them if you must.
(-:
What’s wrong with his pants ? Lol
Cool video, but LMAO at the bus comment. Broooooo just like lug around a $3k amp and take it with you on a bus lmao
I've heard the 64 breaks up faster than the 65. Anyone have experience with this? I love my 65, have only played 64 in music stores.
I like it when they play with a pick. An electric guitar should be played with a pick.

how does hand wired make a tonal difference??
it does not!
Alexander Just generally more reliable and durable.
The same way capacitors sound different because of their construction/colour/packaging. i.e. No difference.

Jerry McKenzie thanks mate!
How can I buy a fender DB by on line . from India
"007 EADGCE" and "RICHY RICH"

and bad hair day too! Oh well... country boy. go figure!
He's right knee is uncovered.

Great amp. I have a hand wired clone made by a real pro for half the cost so that's always an option too, just got to find a legit builder though.
that hair though
The lead into the guitar is tan, yet the lead into the amp is black?? What's between the guitar and amp??
A line 6 hx stomp
😂
Make a head!
That's a hard stare.
Amp sounds great...but that's quite the steep asking price.

The "this is how I would play this live" tone at 5:10 ish is not just the amp. It has a stereo hall reverb added, at least. Bit misleading.
Thought he was playing the pink panther theme
Salute to upside down player mate
