I like that they are being creative with the premise and ghosts in this movie. I was afraid that the Afterlife sequel would just be a rehash of what the previous movies did, but this looks surprisingly unique and original. This is how you do sequels to popular franchises, movie studios. Don't just do the same things over and over again. Try new things while being respectful of what came before. Can't wait!
So tough to find good sequels these days! And trust me I remember Top Gun Maverick last year and it had enough to make up for having almost the same plot as the original.
That what's makes me excited about Frozen Empire since they're trying something brand new to the series with the Ghostbusters crew fighting off a threat that's more dangerous than Gozer and Vigo

@@Mr.Feather130To be fair to either of those elements, they always attack them right when they have shown up, before they can truly gather any real anchor power. Vigo hadn't even possessed the baby yet. This seems to be something that has been gaining power over time in a quiet corner and has come to bring the noise.
The ghostbusters franchise is in fantastic hands. Jason reitmen gets what makes the movies unique! His dad was a genius and thankfully it looks like he has learned from the best. Its a shame harold isnt alive to be apart but he got an amazin send off in afterlife. Let the gb franchise continue to flourish!

I love that the ECTO-1 has more moments to shine. It's almost a cast member in itself, and watching Winston take care of it in Afterlife was great. Here's hoping it gets more love again. There's something great about seeing and hearing the old girl back in action.

Not to mention, they took the original ECTO-1 and restored it to it's original state. There's a video about it with Dan Aykroyd looking over the car and talking about some behind the scene information. Worth a watch.

Probably wanted to hurry up before any of the old Ghostbusters might pass away, like Harold Ramis did. They're all up their in age.
They prob also wanted to capitalize on the goodwill of Afterlife and release it the same year as the 40th anniversary of the original.

This looks awesome, I'm glad they are taking the franchise a new direction but also keeping the original cast part of it. I won't lie every time I see the Ecto-1 I get the biggest smile on my face, it's so iconic. Hope this lives up to the trailer, can't wait!

I like how Afterlife was a great way to introduce new fans to the franchise while keeping old fans happy and is acting like a stepping stone for this movie to move forward into new ideas and premises.
It was average at best and forgettable , only the original is great and had a massive cultural impact

Been a fan since 84, when I arrived late to the cinema, entered through the swing-doors into the dark theatre, and was suddenly welcomed in by the librarian ghost, just as she burst into scary screaming/roaring monster form and the great Cleaning up the Town song kicked in. Perfect introduction the the world of Ghostbusters. Can't wait for this new one

Finally a new Ghostbusters movie that appears to bring the original cast back into action with more than just a cameo. Very excited to see what this is about. And glad its a new part of the story. I am sure there will be many callbacks to the original movies.
I don't even need any callbacks. Afterlife did more than enough of that. I'm ready for some new forward momentum with the Ghostbusters franchise. Everything doesn't need to be dunked in nostalgia to be good

Literally got chills watching this. Great way to continue the Afterlife series: building on same mythology and technology, interesting villain, allowing character growth and continuity. Great VFX.

@@luisrobertson4154 Yes and no, I really did get chills down my spine watching the trailer. It was unintended when I wrote it, but then realized I'd made it and I left it in.
NYC isn't the only thing being frozen. That freshly restored Ecto-1 doing a power slide u-turn gave me the chills. 🥶😍
We call that a brakestand turn. This takes advantage of the front brakes being stronger than the rear brakes, and you just gun the engine while standing on the brake to spin the car around. Downside: This kills the brakes if done enough times.
This would have been amazing as a Christmas release.

I love how this is the kinda premise Dan Ackroyd always wanted a Ghostbusters sequel to go in this kinda direction. New Young Ghostbusters being guided by the old Ghostbusters. I just wish Harold Ramis was a part of it. May he rest in peace.
This looks very promising and an unusual plot I'd only imagine in either fan fiction or a video game. I loved the look of dread on Winston and Peter's face in the firehouse.
Ernie Hudson didn't seem to thrilled about the direction this movie went in, which kinda concerns me.
I think Ray is gonna die in this movie. The look on Winston and Venkmens faces isn't so much scared its fear and shock. Supposedly Dan Akroyd wanted to go into some pretty scary shit for the 3rd film. I'd like to know if he a hand in writing this. Let's not forget DA is really into the paranormal and things of that nature. I love how they're keeping this new franchise somewhat nostalgic but at the same time introducing new things

@@diablojonesTo be fair, the whole thing of Ghostbusters is about these unassuming blue collar schlubs being the underdogs and coming out on top. Afterlife was probably the only one that wasn't just because it was more approached like a reunited band to give tribute to one of their one, but again, to be fair, it felt right to do so especially considering the "band member" they were honoring.
Now that that tribute concert is over, it'll probably go back, or at least be a little more in between which I'm not complaining.

Obviously a Teaser Trailer is not much to go on but I love the fact that:
1.) Not only the new 4 (Phoebe, Podcast, Trevor and Lucky) but Callie and Gary are Ghostbusters
2.) A new Villain not just a rehash
3.) There are huge stakes and we see civilians actually die they don't just run away from the danger and are fine
I really hope this new Villain is as memorable as Gozer from the original Ghostbusters film!

Up to 1:15 I was in fear that this was a sequel to the terrible 2016 remake, the relief when I saw it was the kids again was immense!

Its Dan Ackroyds baby, he will always have a say......sadly we Lost Harold and yes afterlife was a love letter to him i'm glad to get to see everyone else come back and keep the franchise alive after GB 2016......and i didnt hate the movie.....all the cast except for McKinnion were trying to be venkman in my opinion...so after almost 40 years of no new GB content im happy they're gonna keep it fresh with this cast.
It's not like the old cast is doing much of anything these days anyhow lol. 🤪

The mix of nostalgia and new elements looks perfectly balanced. The icy setting adds a fresh twist to the Ghostbusters universe, and I'm intrigued to see how this plays into the storyline. The visuals are stunning, and the hint of humor in classic Ghostbusters style is spot-on. Really looking forward to how this new chapter unfolds.

Looks good. Looks like the original cast play a bigger role as the new cast looking good, and also nice to see them back in New York with a larger scope after the previous film, which felt a bit too small for a Ghostbusters movie. It's not just about comedy, Ghostbusters is an all rounder with action, adventure, suspense, spectacle and heart as well as comedy, and it looks like it's all here. Only negative is the opening of this trailer. The people look out to sea and ask what's coming, and in my mind I answered "a bad visual effect is coming, run!". Besides that, it looks very promising!

Well it was Jason Reitman’s first time doing a real big budget franchise film and tonally it fit more with his usual type of style of films, but it worked for me, I thoroughly enjoyed it
Reminds me of the fake giant elemental that was "attacking" London in Spider-Man: Far From Home.
When the first teaser of Afterlife came out, the visual effects weren't completed, then when the main Afterlife trailer came out, the effects were better. I'm looking forward to this movie.

This is how you do movie sequels. Keeping the originality alive but putting a new take and idea on a classic and not making it cheesy or not paying homage to the classic in some sense. Brilliant.

In this promo, i don't see the last scene yesterday (that RED uniform at the rooftop. Only Lucky wear it). Maybe they cut it / edit or reshooting.
Yeah it's weird how they all have the new red uniforms on every posters and then we barely saw them in the movie

The first Ghostbusters movie in 1984 really was a happy accident. Nothing has ever replicated that movie, everything else, yes even the 1989 movie has leaned into more the cartoon versions of some kind of Scooby-Doo franchise than what the original 1984 film was. I think this film will be another Scooby-Doo/cartoon Ghostbusters flick. That's OK, I know I will get shit for saying that and people will call me a Boomer even though I am a younger Gen Xer. I was 8 years old when I saw the OG flick in 1984, and it was one of the greatest movie experiences I ever had. The film wasn't a franchise, just a new movie with brand new characters and a wild concept, "catching ghosts" with a great theme song.
Big mistake putting Paton Oswald in this. HUGE mistake!

OOHH!! I LOVE this Yuki-Onna styled ghost. I don't know if that's necessarily what they're doing or going for especially since it's called the "Death chill" but the figure at the end and the icicles definitely seem similar to Yuki-Onna vibe and I'm LOVING it. Really looking forward to seeing a fun new ghost!!

I thought this franchise had nothing left to deliver in cinema which would be a cliché but my friends, this film seems to be one of the best of 2024! It has amazing CGI, perfect cinematography and A luxury cast, I will be at the cinema watching this work of art in March.

They are getting too old to keep reappearing in future films, though - at some point, they will have to completely give way to the newer Ghostbusters. This is certainly a good way to do it, though.

You know what? This is interesting! It has an original villain, a new plot, and more of a real danger compared to all the other films because it is not just a form of spiritual danger, it's physical danger. Now we have a real thing to fear for. And for people who are familiar with the ice threats (specifically like, for example, Sub-Zero, because of the sharp ice spikes.) is really something to be concerned for our characters because we have the visual reaction that they CAN BE KILLED. And especially with THE EYES FREEZING!! Holy shit, I got back chills because my immediate reaction is those eyes BURSTING!! I'm really looking forward to this one.
They've certainly embraced going dark (more horror driven) with the story. This movie will get me out of the house and into a theater seat for the first time in years.
