While it is true Ains accidentally solves things far more than he realizes, I think many overlook how he is the farthest thing from an idiot as I've seen people paint him as. Over the seasons we have seen plenty of brilliant actions surrounded by many accidental ones, making him a top-tier protagonist.
He will be the only Anime *villain* (more like morally grey) character i`ve ever known that will *accidentally* archive world domination, but hey good for him.
Part of the reason that people think or say ains is stupid has to do with the light novel and how it was can't that the world he came from had a very dystopian like future setting where most people didn't have it education pass primary school this is the case for ains, he himself says that he did not happen education past primary and only had that what he became a businessman, he didn't go to high school or uni that's why he likes to think of himself as dumb
Don’t quote me, but I’m pretty sure Ainz (or Satoru) had to drop out of middle school due to his family being hit hard financially. So most of Ainz’s education and accumulated intelligence was a result of his experience as a working class adult and whatever knowledge he had gleaned from his friends of Ainz Ooal Gown.
What people don’t understand that this misunderstanding is just another trope of the misunderstood main character. What the author did here also evolved as the story continues. You can notice this more when reading the web novel version of the earlier chapters. So basically it took a different taste as people continue to read on, then people took sides easily on mc as a foolish leader.
There's been an ongoing theory that his undead body in the NW taps into the high intelligence stat that makes him subconsciously make intuitive thoughts or decisions that has a bigger ripple effect. But Satoru here is too humble to notice it.
This honestly makes a lot of sense, Ainz often times doubts himself so even if he has the intelligence his personality is suppressing it from being fully utilized.
Luck really is on his side, but it's for a different battle. The Emperor: "He's planning something..." Guard: "What if he's not?" The Emperor: "Not scientifically possible!"
one of the more subtle details the anime does a great job with is how they give this skeleton face the funniest and most detailed responses when he is caught off guard. Shocked Ainz is comedy gold
Ainz ain't stupid, he uses all his office job skills to maximum effect but he also knows the great advice of anyone in a new job ; Fake it 'till you make it. This guy has the ultimate poker face and his emotional suppression means no dumb decision. Luck supplements his skills ending up with these serendipitous happenings.
@@isaiascanete6651 the best part is that the spell does not even cost any mana. It just has a 4 time per day limit and a 30 minute cooldown between each cast. So after casting it 4 times he will still have full mana to fight in case a sudden enemy shows up.
Basically Ainz has proven this season that he can be the greatest boss and the #1 salesman at the same time. He has thwarted an alliance against him, proven his superiority to the other nations(again), preserved his sasuga status, gained a new subordinate, subjugated the empire, and all because he wanted to promote his country’s Adventurer’s Guild to the public in the most spectacular way possible. Truly there is no one that can stop this man.
Also, while I understand why it was cut, I do wish we could’ve seen more of Ainz and Ainzach’s discussion about the Adventurers Guild’s future. In short Ainzach had proposed that Ainz establish his institution first, and then begin scouting for new adventurers. The idea was to start looking for candidates in the Sorcerer Kingdom before making the recruitment offer internationally. Ainz found this to be a very appealing suggestion, especially coming from a non-NPC. However Ainz immediately pointed out the flaws in that proposal. First there were very few experienced adventurers left in his kingdom so the offer would only reach those that had no concept of what being an adventurer actually entailed (which includes the financial struggles and risks of the job). Meaning people that would not realize how unique Ainz’s guild would actually be compared to the other nations. Second there was the issue of not knowing how many candidates would be drawn in by such an offer. If the establishment Ainz plans to build was too big to justify the number of members then that could be seen as over ambitious. Similarly if it were too small to accommodate the new recruits then that would reflect poorly on Ainz’s promise to fully support the guild. Hence why Ainz wanted to promote his guild in a country with many current and future adventurers. It was meant to be a test to gauge how many candidates they should expect in the future. It was at this point that Ainzach admitted that Ainz was far more intelligent than he assumed. It was also at that moment that the old guild master began to truly respect Ainz as his king.
Sorry, but as you know, I can never write a brief comment. This episode and this review was spectacular. I expect the following episode Shall be very interesting.
@ Starwars Experte I prefer the physical books, whether those are better or worse than the online copies I wouldn’t know. As for sasuga status it’s not a reference, as far as I know. It’s just that the Japanese phrase “sasuga”(which roughly translates to “as expected of” or “impressive as always”) is one that Ainz always receives from one of his subordinates (usually Demiurge). It’s kind of like an attribute specific to Ainz since no one (including us) can predict what he’ll do next, but we know he will succeed and it will be amazing to watch.
Jircnev and Philip are the embodiments of what Demiurge said back in season 3 episode 9, War of Words. "A reasonably intelligent man is far easier to predict than a fool." Jircnev is very intelligent, so he can be counted on to make intelligent moves. When he sees how badly his plans have been foiled (by accident) he does the intelligent thing because he sees it as the only way to save his empire. Philip has yet to show how stupid he truly is, but he has shown how he is incapable of thinking things through and he acts in a way that makes it near impossible to guess what he'll do because he just does things and justifies it after the fact.
To be fair to Jircniv, what he thought was Ainz' plan wasn't even really some cunning plan. Strolling up into some other empire completely unannounced, killing their greatest warrior in front of a large crowd while openly saying you're handicapping yourself, after which you make an announcement that you want *their* strongest and brightest to come serve you instead while resurrecting the guy you just killed so he can serve you as well, and then threateningly flying up to where the emperor is sitting is _absolutely_ a show of hostility. That's not a misunderstanding, you'd have to be stupid to *not* take it that way. It really is like greeting someone while pointing a gun in their face and wondering why they're acting panicked.
This comment is like saying an Elephant unintentionally crushing an anthill is an act of hostility to ants. The elephant probably doesn't even realise the mound of dirt it just obliterated was actually a home to anything. Jircniv is literally someone Ainz respected for his skill at leadership, but he (Ainz) _doesn't know_ how Jircniv views him.
I like how during the fight with the warrior king, there was no disrespect between the two combatants. That visible fear from the maid when asked what they thought on seeing Ainz. Ainz wasn't expecting to hear that the emperor wants to become a vassal state. Funny seeing the wizard again being overjoyed being with Ainz.
About Ainz being a moron. I belive people mostly say that because in the novel Ains himself says that. Constantly. He keeps going inside his head how he's afraid Demiurge and Albedo might figure out 'he is an idiot' 'his scull is empty' and so on. The man is insanely insecure. In reality he is quite smart. Not only that, he posesses many qualities, that make him a really good leader. Like his ability to listen and Analise other opinions and be a fair balancer of interests for example. But he doesn't understand his own value because in his home world he was in a sence completely separated from any tipe of activity, aside from gaming, that would let him prove his own value even to himself. He had a boring work, and spent all his time, money and effort in the game of IGDRASSIL. As such-he is an expert in all sorts of things connected to the game: It's lore, history, dange walkthrou planning, Pvp and gvg strategy planning, guild economy(without knowing connected terms) and so on. He is also a very good salesman, as it was his dayjob.
We are each our own worst critic so while he might feel that way a blind man can see he is at worst average but truly is quite smart in many different ways
@@AHBrandonReviews Actually even in our world he's been rather smart and a good leader. Above average I would say. He just lacked education. Which is Not even remotely the same thing as bein stupid. But the thing is since he transported to the new world his stats changed basically to what his character had. And well. He's a mage.
@@Zippyser not to mention he managed to keep guild position in top 5 or 10(i don't remember specific place but it was high) just by himself, basically. And defend the guild from invaders and looters(in IGDRASSIL it was possible to loot other players and guilds) When only 2 other people didn't leave the guild and even then they barely ever went online. That's way beyond being just good or skilled. The man was a monster in a way. I mean it's like being able to beat hundreds of people alone just bu dedication good resources usage and good battle planning. Not just once or twice. Day after day for at least a few month
In the light novel when Ainz doesn't immediately accept Jircniv's offer a part of that is he thinks to himself about Demiurge and for good reason, don't wanna just jump into something he doesn't know about but surely Demiurge knows so many ways in how to go about situations like these. But if Ainz was completely aware of what a vassal state is and what the best decision was he surely would've said yes but since he didn't know he made the right decision in playing it safe by not just saying oh sure that sounds great
I remember demiurge plan said to be taking a couple of years, then he admitted he could've accomplished everything in a couple of months, that man was planning some really fucked up stuff to do if it took a couple of years to make them their vassals.
The funniest thing to me is that After this Encounter Jircniv started believing that Ainz is the Closest thing in this World to a perfect being While Jircniv thought that this all was part of some big brain plan Ainz was just trying to market his Adventurer guild to a wider audience Even His desire to Not inform Jircniv about his visit is because he didn't want to tire him with a welcome party
one of the funniest lines in this episode is when he is in the carriage and is being told hey entering in secret is kinda like starting a war and Ainz is all like "I'm sure he'll forgive me" knowing how much it'd actually scare the shit out of him haha
He was deathly afraid of being found out that he doesn't actually know anything about rulership or diplomacy. Basically that he's a fraud who doesn't have a clue what he is doing. Fake it till you make it.
As a source reader i can say that there is some really good stuff yet to come. This episode was as good as always i cant wait to experience how the studio will adapt the rest of the story, the last three seasons have not disappointed me and season four is no exception.
@@AHBrandonReviews As another source reader i want to give some more detail of why this scene is so good and why i would definitely recommen u read the LN for more information. Ainz not only sees Jircniv as his buddy, but as a role model for how a "good" ruler should be and he is trying to learn from him. Ainz is kinda obsessed with that and regularly spies on Jircniv via surveyllance magic. Jircniv doesn´t know that, but is getting more and more paranoid of being watched over time, kinda feeling Ainz spying on him but now knowing how. Over time he sets up counter measures for spies thinking the empire had been infiltrated. Then he sets up the meeting with the theocracy in an attempt to maybe get an idea how to defeat Ainz, all while doing everything he can to not get out any information about the meeting. And with all these preparations and all the paranoia Jircniv had pent up, Ainz randomly barges in and shatters Jircnivs whole reality, by accident.
One thing I also noticed is that people forgot Momonga is the guild master or the leader of "Ainz ooal gown" before the game shutdown...so he is a very capable leader (they even suited the throne and staff of ainz owl goan according to his class so pretty much the guild like momonga as their leader). I think his skepticism about himself being a leader started when some of the players left the game for personal reasons and he thinks that maybe he is not worth to be a leader since some members of the guild were leaving.. and i think he always compared himself to Touch Me who was the leader of the guild before him whom he always looked up to as a better leader...so he always belittle himself to be an idiot...and the reader/audience/us believed him...
He also grew up unable to attend highschool due to family financial reasons. He's only ever worked in a boring office job with no upward mobility, so all he knows is office work, guild management, and PVP/PVE.
Ainz crushing all plans by compleet and utter accident is so amazing and hilarious at the same time edit: allso Ainz actually using Clemintine's weapons from all the way back in season 1
I agree. Ainz isn't fully idiot. I think Ainz is the character i've ever seen the most adapt to his action and surrounding. He can easily adapting his action anywhere. And the action he does is the most rational thing to do for himself, unless demiurge has the idea that surprass Ainz like conquer the world or the idea that let the thieft to go inside Nazarick, Ainz action is the most adapt and rational thing to do. This is what i look Ainz character.
“Give it to me in writing” J. was about to write his answer to the other nation when they announced Ainz. J. thought that final comment was all he needed as confirmation that Ainz knew
Nothing is worse that not knowing that one does not know, as that would truly make one a fool. However, what makes Ains a decent leader is that he fully well knows the limits of his knowledge and expertise. He always tries to recruit people with the necessary skills to compensate for where he is lacking. So Ains is no fool. It also doesn't hurt that he has some luck on his side lol.
“The supreme art of war is to subdue the enemy without fighting.” -Ya Boy Sun Tzu Ainz went for an advertisement, got a vassal state on his way back home. Demiurge will get his mind blown over this. “If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.” -Ya Boy Sun Tzu Fun Fact: Ainz "never knew" Jircniv is, but still fucking wins and it is Jircniv is the one who is overthinking. I am now imagining Sun Tzu telling Ainz: You don't do that that way, but you still get the fucking result. WTF Machiavelli: First time?
Like others ahve said, I think the rules of the world are translating his high int stat and having his blunders go in his favor as if he truly was that high of int. He just doesn't recognize this is happening even though he knows the world will force him to calm down due to the rules of being undead.
Not really. He just happens to be basically a living god in this world. His underlings are just as powerful as he is. Or at least almost. So by his mere presence being so threatening and nobody being able to read his emotions things just settle for themselves basically. There is nothing and nobody who can challenge Ainz to a duel and come out alive. Not even the Dragonlords who have been hinted at in earlier seasons.
Very true that Ainz is more funny this season lol, and it was right from the beginning of this ep. too where he tells Lumiere to "forget everything you just saw" referring to him kissing Albedo adieu lol. I really enjoyed the Warrior King proving stereotypes of his race incorrect even though he acknowledged he was one of the odd ones out. Making Ainz more interested in him. It's pretty funny how he accidentally stumbled on Jircniv's plans, making him overthink every action Ainz takes. Gotta love this show each week. From the politics to the wit and the action. And, of course, the characters.
I really like the Guild Master character. Like how Ainz-sama feels a difference in interaction with him. He actually question Ainz-sama point of view, which Ainz-sama appreciate.
Yeah especially in the early parts of the story he truly wanted that pushback as he didn't know what he was doing but trying to learn which got him into a lot of things he tried to avoid. Pretty cool to have the guild master give him that pushback he's wanted for a long time as it helps him learn
yup he always tries to learn more and being surrounded by so many who thinks everything is a masterplan leaves him pretty overwhelmed more often than not. This kingdom arc is letting him truly expand his horizons in ways previous arcs have restricted him.
Excellent analysis. Especially loved the Away Game comment... Wonder how Demiurge will incorporate this into the master plan. "I'm amazed how you already knew to provide this final piece to the plan my lord! As always you are a multitude of steps ahead of my meager intellect. Your brilliance astounds as always!"
Ains is not "Society" smart he's MMO smart, he's super prudent, expect betrayal at any moment, and expect unknown threats coming from anywhere. The only reason he seems to have luck is because the empire don't pose a threat to him and he knows it, he could eradicate the country on a whim but that would be more inconvenient. So why would he be warry of Jerknhiv betraying him? Even if he succeeds the chances of the betrayal actually accomplishing anything are barely existing. Plus he knows how to delegate to the right person, he knows wich floor guardian is best to handle what situation, and that's a really useful skill
His biggest strength as an absolute ruler is he doesn't just like negative feedback he actively goes out looking for it. That is the quality of a TRUE king. A true king understands that and puts aside their arrogance and want to be corrected. The ability to accept that you need help and advice from people FAR FAR FAR beneath you (strength wise) is a form of intelligence at such a HIGH TIER that we dont even call it intelligence. We call it WISDOM. He is not just smart. He is WISE.
I feel like this episode demonstrates the difrence betwen Ainz and Philip while both are getting involved with this they have no idea what they are doing one is carefull and has cards to play if his first idea doesn't work plus his plans make sense while the other one is sees one benefit and is full set that it's the right choice regardles of anything else
It's so good when they don't force CGI all the times specially in action scenes. The fight with the Warrior King was one of the best fights Overlord had up until now
what i miss about the anime when i watched it was, the questions.. how he even is in that world, how to get out, if he stays there forever and whats really going on, these kind of questions are missing
It can't be, one of the things I most wanted to see in this chapter (along with the fight against the warrior king) was when he gave Ainzach the sword.
The 10 year spell is lowkey bait. It is a popular spell in the game with its overboard spectacle but not in effectiveness. Only players can dispute the 10 year claim. Disputing it will expose themselves.
I saw someone telling people that Ainz is some dark edgy character and I was like " Are we seeing the same anime? he is an undead creature that can't feel emotions and he is obviously faking it until he makes it"
Ainz character build has high intelligence. And most of that works on a subconscious level. The conscious mind usually only tries to rationals why we do things we do. That is the human structure that came from the real work. But most what he does comes from the underlying very high intelligent undead build. So no wonder he is confused, but everything works out fine.
These volumes of overlord have some great moments. There are some great things coming. Ainz training his warrior skills is a sub plot I really like and in this episode we see just how good he became.
To Ains intelligence or capabilities, one think to note, Ains in his pervious life was a Guild Master of THE top guid in his game/server. If you ever been in those world of online gaming or game mastering a dnd campaign. It take alot for a person to juggle the responsibility to maintain a WORKING guild or game let alone be a very successful one. Ains was the leader of the top Guild. If any downside his INT is his ignorance of the new world.
Honestly ains just has average intelligence he's not an idiot he's not "smart" either he's just good at knowing when to ask for help or when to fake it. While it sound good quality anyone who's worked at a bad job knows these too. Basically he has good common sense
Fun fact: *The Empire doesnt have anyone that can cast resurrection magic, not even Fluder!* So Ainz's flex gets plus points! Meanwhile, ReEstize has Lakyus (blue rose), and both the Holy Kingdom and Theocracy are very divine-magic-based.
Cant wait to see how Albedo and Demiurge would react to Ains having Baharuth become his vassal....I'd like to see Demiurge be like "As expected of the supreme one, always 3 steps ahead of the game"😅
Loving they give even the Merchant and warrior king time to have bit a background. Ainz just wanted to advertise but ended up making the Empire a Vassal state its funny that Ainz did not even know that a vassal state was. While the emperor cheered the warrior king trough the entire battle out of desperation. Most of the time its seems like Ainz is just winging it XD but he makes it work and navigates in interesting ways.
@@AHBrandonReviews Sometimes it really is a coin toss with him. But in reality he being careful how he approaches this world. His actions will have big and lasting consequences. So he does now want to cause huge damage or make moves that there would no coming back from. So he has to plan well and make preparations
8:30, what i dont think u mentioned which is also genius is that ainz actual says "Oh yh My bff wanted me to use that spell". like putting all the blame on the emperor for that horror of a battle. Ainz isnt the smartest, but i think his greatest skill is improvising, he can take situations he doesnt understand or accidents he walks in or does, and runs with it to make it look like some god like being.
The fact that Ainz didn't use any magic or magic item in the fight further increase the Theocracy's suspicious on Jircniv because Jircniv told them to watch the match for any weakness but Ainz didn't show anything.
Ainz just gained another Servant, one that could perhaps grow into an additional Guardian for the Tomb of Nazarick in time. At least Death Knight and Hamasuke will have a new sparring partner.
From the first time we see Jircniv as a teaser in season two to the last frame of his face in this episode is the whole "how it started vs how it's going" meme for him.
This explanation of Ainz' character and his relative level of actual intelligence and how it's misunderstood by everyone actually reminds me of Rosemine from the yet-to-be animated seasons 4+ of Ascendance of a Bookworm. (minor spoilers) Rosemine's deal is that she's WAY over-speced in intelligence, creativity, and practical skills, but she's only above average in the area of charisma and navigating social-political issues. Also, she has absolutely no perception of how outside the norm she really is, and her overwhelmingly good performance in creative matters throws her so far into the deep-end of politics that only having above-average skills in that area leaves her completely outside her depth. As a result... yeah, it leads to a lot of misunderstandings. Unlike overlord though, the misunderstandings will be more of a mixed bag as to whether they are good or not.
One of the best episodes of overlord for me, it got me rooting as I was in the arena!! "Please be as good as you're supposed to be!" And it lived up to all my expectations and more! I rooted for the amazing fight, I feel so proud of the team working on the project, we all remember the bad moments from the prior seasons but the insane moments evocate the Shonnen hell out of me!!!
Some time ago i saw a theory that even if he was braindead in the real world he inherited his character's stats when he got isekai'd and since his character has maxed out intelligence - he passively use that brilliant mind that was given to him
He uses deception cunningly. Just like how Ainz gave Fluder basically a worthless book which Fluder then proceeded to think as somekind of forbidden knowledge.
In the LN ainz think that if the emperor is not sharing for him it is because he is a big fun of the gladiator and feel almost bad about beating his friend idol. I find it really funny.
Ainz is the kind of person who would humiliate someone in battle if they annoyed him. Take a look at what he did to Clementine. But yeah, he wouldn't humiliate someone for no reason. The Warrior King treated him with respect, so Ainz returned that respect.
A 50-50 coin toss…. Did he do it intentionally or by accident? In my opinion it’s a little of both. He went to the Empire with a good plan in mind and just happened to stumble upon the emperor plotting against him, wrecking the man’s plan and his spirit, while still not knowing what he did.
Would have missed the meeting if he didin't respect Osks timetable and would have used his title of the King to gain audience sooner. It's just lazy writing if I'm being honest.
I believe its because of their stats like CHARM, LUCK, INTELIGENCE, in the novel people say Ainz words are sweet and easy to understand thats the CHARM stat in effect also going to the empire and stumbling into a secret meeting thats the LUCK stat and so on and so on. I like to believe thats how Ainz gets away with everything.
I love that he didn't plan on destroying the emperor's plans ainz did it by accident. Like I was just planning a trip to beat up a troll what are you doing here.
Go Gin is an amazing character. This definitely will be my favourite season to date since it only gets better. I love this OP along with the COTE OP. Jircniv honestly made the right choice even if it’s based on a misunderstanding since it’s hard to say if the other NPCs try to conquer their empire. Ainz is extremely powerful considering he’s level 100 and many of the races cap way below that. Humans cap around level 30 or so I think. Only a few races can reach level 100 and even then they need very good equipment to fight even one of the Nazarick residents. Ainz would more likely lose against his level 100 subordinates if it weren’t for their loyalty towards him. It seems like most of the kingdoms will be conquered. Definitely re estize based on what that guy will end up planning. The idea of using adventurers to explore the world helps explore many more possibilities in the future for the series. The author plans to finish the series fairly soon around volume 17 or 18 I think. Ainz paid respect to Go Gin as a PVP player and fighter. Love how he lied about the powerful spell having limits lol. I wanted to see this episode especially. Also I want to see Renner’s plan come to fruition
So true. What I really like is how he uses subterfuge to get information from others without looking clueless, or just plainly to manipulate them. A good example of this is right at the start; He asks the guardians to tell him what they think of him. Which looks like a test of loyalty, but... 1) This reveals how they view their relationship, which is very important since the NPCs have changed so dramatically that he doesn't know what to expect of them, nor what they expect of him. As far as he knows one mistake on his part could expose him as a 'fraud' and get him killed. 2) Each guardian reveals what they value. Shalltear calls him beautiful, Cocytus speaks of strenght, Mare mentions kindness, Demiurge wisdom, etc... Again vital information if he wants to play the part of their overlord. I agree that he is no genius, but he's smart enough to fool one.
Unlikely that people will see this, but anime watchers, please understand that the INT stat carrying over into the new world is a highly improbable argument The Light Novel provides character sheets, and something to note about Yggdrasil character sheets is that there are no INT, WIS, or CHAR stats (Intelligence, Wisdom, Charisma) Therefore everything that's explicitly known suggests that all inherent character "stats" related to social interactions are derived from the real social skills of the players, which I think is neat and very fitting for an MMORPG that really does encourage its players to socialize with each other
People honestly think Ainz is stupid? He's certainly ignorant of a lot of things, especially since he never considered he might end up in a position of government authority so he never studied/trained for such a thing. Also maybe a bit dense at times too for not being able to read the room. But stupid? He's proven in the previous seasons that he's got a good brain in that exposed skull. As for this bit, I love your analysis. I had heard some details about this scene from the light novels but I loved seeing how it actually plays out. Might end up one of my favorite scenes of the series.
I don't think it's 50/50. He is far more likely to stumble into things by accident than plan anything. So more like 80/20 if you ask me. Either way rather than wanting things in writing I'd have wriggled my way out by saying this isn't something decided on a whim in the arena and should be properly negotiated later in a proper setting. Or say he's a bit exhausted and thus not in the right state of mind to make national-level decisions right now. Did he use the swords of Clementine here?
The price of being a genius is that you become paranoid and too wary of what others will do. Jircniv is a genius, too smart that he overthinks everything Ainz does.
I'm always reminded of Demiurge saying that a moderately smart person is easier to predict than a fool and that's basically been Jircniv's entire experience thus far.
Pretty cool episode. Ainz making advertising plans for recruiting adventurers and never using them for war. Sounds great. I literally had to look what vassal means. And after looking at it. It’s hilarious but understandable. As many will say. If you can’t beat them. Join them.
This episode was just fire 🔥! But also a bit ridiculous and funny at the same time when the Emperor said he want the Empire to become Vassal country of Ainz's Kingdom 🤣 At this rate El Nix will become a old man because of stress before even be 40 years old !
Unqualified Yes, but not an idiot he did handle a Guild and continued defending Nazarick long after everyone else stopped playing, He has to learn the ropes of actual leadership and start to get over whatever imposter syndrome he has, although this is probably the result of him being in a situation he cannot had foreseen, and thus he does feel out of control.
I think Ainz had 100 luck in the game and in the new world that turns into realistic turns of luck in his favor in every way. That doesn't mean he can't lose but if there is a chance he can get a win ever from a loss he will... The cosmic dice are loaded and they are in Ainz's favor.
Ainz isn't dumb, he's just out of his depth of knowledge and doesn't have any resources to learn from (especially since his regular education wasn't anything special to begin with). You can't fault a regular office worker for not knowing the intricacies of statecraft.
Btw osk conversation with Ainz isn't well done in the anime. Is more well done on LN. Since Ainz is salaryman and salesman also, conversation with such an humble (great) merchant as Osk is the great thing i've ever read on Overlord. Osk on LN not just pervert man, he's really a good merchant and such a businessman. When Ainz want to fight martial lord. Osk ask to Ainz what compensation he has if Martial Lord died. This sentence reflect what a businessman he's not just blindly agree what Ainz does and ask. Not gonna spoiling more, since there's a scene that cut out from anime on this event. Anyway that's just my opinion as a reader the LN.
I was thinking that, maybe, people want to see Ainz as a male version of a mary sue. everything goes his way without even knowing that he should make an effort. but, as it's mentioned on the video. Ainz is far from that. he's probably as capable as Albedo or Demiurge. just not on the same things.
@@TheYdyp lot of stuff from the OP come from volume 14. The movie should be about Holy Kingdom Arc and that covers 12-13. This season should be 10+11+14 to make the story flow more naturally imo. (I have no confirmation whatsoever, just speculation.)
ainz has a lot of expirience in pvp in an rpg game and he is basically 100 times more powerful than anyone alive. His underlings are basically demon gods. He can't even remember people's faces. Soon there will be a new character that is introduced very prominently. Ainz has literally forgotten that persons name in the next volume. "really was there such a person in the Holy Kingdom? Is my head really that empty?. He also constantly has to BS his way through the conversation because he has no idea what anyone is even talking about. He just has this menacing presence and 100% unbreakable poker face. It's actually really sad that even after reaching to 15th novel in the series and him spending several years in this new undead existence the author is still adamant about keeping him as this goofy dumb as a mother fucker type of character. I expected some character growth and him being depicted as less of an amnesia patient with half of his brain missing. But its a funny joke to the author so thats what we got.
Personally I see Ainz as someone with average intelligence, maybe slightly above average. He's not an idiot, it's just that he's incredibly out of his depth. He doesn't understand what something is so to navigate out of it he goes "put it in writing and we'll discuss it from there".
I want to see the Warrior King train with the Lizardmen, Hamusuke and the Dead Knights under Cocytus wing. Poor el Nix, stress is gonna kick his ass at this rate. For now S4 has been amazing, I hope it keeps this drive
the martial lord was not better than gazef when it came to swordplay, in the novel he even regretted the fact that he was too overconfident moments before entering the ring as he knew that was probably his last match. He just overcompensate with massive strength and speed due to his race.
One of the things I see about Overlord I don’t understand is the constant slander regarding how powerful Ainz is and how there’s no danger to him because of his overwhelming power, thus the whole show is boring. Like firstly whatever show you watch plot armor is a thing and your hero didn’t die season 2 episode 3 because he encountered someone more powerful than them. Danger is a plot tool of the storyteller and an illusion you believe to find it interesting. Secondly Overlord is so much more involved then just straight power, though it is absolutely a power fantasy. Get over it and accept the danger that is actually present, like Ainz’s relationship to the other powerful monsters that could destroy him, and his delicate political situations throughout the world.
Ya Boy Ainz applying Art of War without knowing it LMAO
What people don’t understand that this misunderstanding is just another trope of the misunderstood main character. What the author did here also evolved as the story continues. You can notice this more when reading the web novel version of the earlier chapters. So basically it took a different taste as people continue to read on, then people took sides easily on mc as a foolish leader.
Ainz: "What the heck is a vassal state."
Me being a Poly Sci minor: "I believe, your majesty, it means they are willing to be your bitch."
POV: Youre only a MMORPGgamer
Hahahh, laughed hard with this, I just imagined demiurge saying this...hahah
Aha got a bitch!
There's been an ongoing theory that his undead body in the NW taps into the high intelligence stat that makes him subconsciously make intuitive thoughts or decisions that has a bigger ripple effect. But Satoru here is too humble to notice it.
it's a good theory tbh especially given his humble nature that's shown quite a lot
tbh, if all stats convert. it would be the actual thing
This honestly makes a lot of sense, Ainz often times doubts himself so even if he has the intelligence his personality is suppressing it from being fully utilized.
Agree
If you think about it his a lvl 100 caster, probably topped out in intellect stats lol.
One of my lowkey favorite parts is Ainz remembering TouchMe when the Warrior King said it's nice to know there are stronger people in the world.
Luck really is on his side, but it's for a different battle.
The Emperor: "He's planning something..."
Guard: "What if he's not?"
The Emperor: "Not scientifically possible!"
That guard is only person that cought Ainz on his bullshit but shame that Emperor is overthinking things
@@n0ttomuch65 Baziwood is a W guy.
Ains is like the living embodiment of the "I meant to do that" trope done right. 💀
one of the more subtle details the anime does a great job with is how they give this skeleton face the funniest and most detailed responses when he is caught off guard. Shocked Ainz is comedy gold
@@AHBrandonReviews Agreed! 🤣
Ainz ain't stupid, he uses all his office job skills to maximum effect but he also knows the great advice of anyone in a new job ; Fake it 'till you make it. This guy has the ultimate poker face and his emotional suppression means no dumb decision. Luck supplements his skills ending up with these serendipitous happenings.
in case anyone was wondering the 10 year thing was a lie Ainz made up to make himself seem weaker. He can actually use that spell 4 times a day
Yup
Of course it's a lie. It's spells from a game so at most 24 hours cooldown.
Thanks for clarification, knew from episode that he was bluffing but been looking for some confirmation
Bro 4 times a day is such overkill for a nation ender spell hahaha
Good comment Jacob! One question: What is a sasuga status? A reference to an anime?
@@jacobjohnson8635 Thanks for the light novel info. Did you read it online or as a real book? I'm wondering what to buy.
@ Starwars Experte
I prefer the physical books, whether those are better or worse than the online copies I wouldn’t know.
"A reasonably intelligent man is far easier to predict than a fool."
Jircnev is very intelligent, so he can be counted on to make intelligent moves.
It's not accident, we the watcher think it's accident that that's what the author us to think. Ainz doing it subconsciously.
What if Phillip was an Isekai’d person too. He reincarnated and thought he was the main character and that everything would go his way.
@@spartanblu5862 then he probably died of stupidity even before tenseing .
This makes me love Philip even more. He has a great design and is an agent of chaos. I can’t wait to see everything crumble around him
To be fair to Jircniv, what he thought was Ainz' plan wasn't even really some cunning plan.
The funny thing is Ainz himself doesnt know he is pointing the gun at them. He is just doing what he feels like
It's also like flexing your Godhood in front of ants.
I'm excited to see their future interactions as they are oddly wholesome together even when trying to kill one another haha
Same here plus combined with Ainz being confused about everything
And well. He's a mage.
yup
You don't get to become the guild leader of the most powerful guild in a game for years without having some skills.
The funniest thing to me is that After this Encounter Jircniv started believing that Ainz is the Closest thing in this World to a perfect being
While Jircniv thought that this all was part of some big brain plan
Ainz was just trying to market his Adventurer guild to a wider audience
Even His desire to Not inform Jircniv about his visit is because he didn't want to tire him with a welcome party
one of the funniest lines in this episode is when he is in the carriage and is being told hey entering in secret is kinda like starting a war and Ainz is all like "I'm sure he'll forgive me" knowing how much it'd actually scare the shit out of him haha
@@AHBrandonReviews
Poor Jircniv
He thinks Ainz looks down on him
While Ainz in Reality looks up to him
He was deathly afraid of being found out that he doesn't actually know anything about rulership or diplomacy.
I really dig how Overlord truly ups the quality when it comes to the story/characters each season and so far season 4 is no exception
“Give it to me in writing”
J. was about to write his answer to the other nation when they announced Ainz.
J. thought that final comment was all he needed as confirmation that Ainz knew
The events in this episode create the bases of the story moving forward and progress us into the next arc. So far, loving the season.
I love how one of Jircnivs knights remarks that maybe ainz didn’t really think about anything
Right 🤣
I love the reply to that comment that makes it seem like that is impossible
“The supreme art of war is to subdue the enemy without fighting.”
-Ya Boy Sun Tzu
Ainz went for an advertisement, got a vassal state on his way back home. Demiurge will get his mind blown over this.
“If you know the enemy and know yourself, you need not fear the result of a hundred battles. If you know yourself but not the enemy, for every victory gained you will also suffer a defeat. If you know neither the enemy nor yourself, you will succumb in every battle.”
-Ya Boy Sun Tzu
Fun Fact: Ainz "never knew" Jircniv is, but still fucking wins and it is Jircniv is the one who is overthinking.
I am now imagining
Sun Tzu telling Ainz: You don't do that that way, but you still get the fucking result. WTF
Machiavelli: First time?
@@AHBrandonReviews I also think that he appreciates it because he can also learn things from the point of view of the other person.
yup he always tries to learn more and being surrounded by so many who thinks everything is a masterplan leaves him pretty overwhelmed more often than not. This kingdom arc is letting him truly expand his horizons in ways previous arcs have restricted him.
@@AHBrandonReviews blind obedience is not healthy in mental health for Ainz-sama. 😂 😂 😂
Do remember he was also a guild master before. He is likely used to talking up other guild masters, especially those smaller than his.
Cannot wait to see Demiurge's reaction from hearing Ainz made the empire a vassal state without shedding any blood.
God yes! I can't wait to see his response.
I just loved Jirkniv cheering for the War Troll in the blurry background(literally) xD
I like Ains, he put his family on top of everything, even his life.
Honestly ains just has average intelligence he's not an idiot he's not "smart" either he's just good at knowing when to ask for help or when to fake it. While it sound good quality anyone who's worked at a bad job knows these too. Basically he has good common sense
I'm a little sad they left out the warrior kings' backstory but the rest was awesome
The one soldier/bodyguard to Jircnev was almost right about Ainz. I agree his opinion and it's hilarious
Yep. Baziwood was right. However as we have seen before, the correct assumptions are often disregarded or thrown aside.
Ainz has a lot of really good ideas that are surrounded by a bunch of unplanned moments that 99% of the time work in his favor
I loved this episode and one thing I really liked was when Ainz uses Clementine's weapons and points out Monon gave them to him 😅
Ainz just gained another Servant, one that could perhaps grow into an additional Guardian for the Tomb of Nazarick in time. At least Death Knight and Hamasuke will have a new sparring partner.

even the ancient dragon lords don't reach much past lvl 80. And they were worhshipped as gods in the past. So yeah. A very realistic scenario.
Overlord basically paved the way for "kingsmanship comedy" and it's amusing that's kind of a genre now.
(minor spoilers)
Rosemine's deal is that she's WAY over-speced in intelligence, creativity, and practical skills, but she's only above average in the area of charisma and navigating social-political issues.
Warrior King is a giga chad
The next location he goes to is probably my second favorite. This episode had hints.
Im excited
Well, it's nice that Jircniv finally understands what his place is - and that is whatever Ainz deems for that place to be.
Cant wait to see the animation of demis reaction next week 😆
Yeah because people living in midd-eages are so hard to impress. Must be some supernatural effect going on. Lmao.
It's confirmed. Ainz never played Crusader Kings.
A good example of this is right at the start;
He asks the guardians to tell him what they think of him.
I just lmao-ing watching this episode 😂
Unlikely that people will see this, but anime watchers, please understand that the INT stat carrying over into the new world is a highly improbable argument
The Light Novel provides character sheets, and something to note about Yggdrasil character sheets is that there are no INT, WIS, or CHAR stats (Intelligence, Wisdom, Charisma)
Therefore everything that's explicitly known suggests that all inherent character "stats" related to social interactions are derived from the real social skills of the players,
which I think is neat and very fitting for an MMORPG that really does encourage its players to socialize with each other
Ainz is playing 1D checkers while everyone trying to play 3D chess and it's hilarious
Can't wait for the animated form of demurge's sasuga ainz sama.
The price of being a genius is that you become paranoid and too wary of what others will do.
Jircniv is a genius, too smart that he overthinks everything Ainz does.
the one dude behind him when he said what if it was an accident to then being immediately shot down left me rolling
But also a bit ridiculous and funny at the same time when the Emperor said he want the Empire to become Vassal country of Ainz's Kingdom 🤣
At this rate El Nix will become a old man because of stress before even be 40 years old !
Ains pulling a Jack Sparrow and accidentally improving the method
Ainz isn't a genius. He's smart enough to be dangerous while having a luck stat that's off the charts. 🤣
I think Ainz had 100 luck in the game and in the new world that turns into realistic turns of luck in his favor in every way. That doesn't mean he can't lose but if there is a chance he can get a win ever from a loss he will... The cosmic dice are loaded and they are in Ainz's favor.
This episode was so damn good!
Good content! Just subscribed.
I think cocutus and the warrior king would become friends if they ever meet
If the emperor isn't dead from stress by the end of Overlord i'll be surprised.
I had to Google what a vassal is
Imagine a crossover episode of Ainz vs Arc.
You'd love to see it
He just a regular guy that work as salary man. Not the genius not a dumb. Just a normal guy. But pro player.
I was thinking that, maybe, people want to see Ainz as a male version of a mary sue. everything goes his way without even knowing that he should make an effort.
but, as it's mentioned on the video. Ainz is far from that. he's probably as capable as Albedo or Demiurge. just not on the same things.
The last third of the season would be the adaptation of LN volume 14, so this season is automatically my favorite.
I read that this season only covers volume 11-12 and the, movie will cover 13-14.
Jircnev is trying to save his empire and people by bending the knee
Personally I see Ainz as someone with average intelligence, maybe slightly above average. He's not an idiot, it's just that he's incredibly out of his depth. He doesn't understand what something is so to navigate out of it he goes "put it in writing and we'll discuss it from there".
After world domination will Ains councure the galaxy for the glory of the sorcerer kingdom ✨🙌
I want to see the Warrior King train with the Lizardmen, Hamusuke and the Dead Knights under Cocytus wing.
Poor el Nix, stress is gonna kick his ass at this rate.
For now S4 has been amazing, I hope it keeps this drive
don't worry El Nix is about to get a lot less busy to say the least :)
@@Sad_Cabbage I hope, he deserves to chill a bit haha
the martial lord was not better than gazef when it came to swordplay, in the novel he even regretted the fact that he was too overconfident moments before entering the ring as he knew that was probably his last match.
