Isn't the light novel still on going though? The kingdom falling can't be the final arc right? There is is still the Slane Theoacracy. There are two separate kingdomes the Holy Kingdom and the Slane Theocracy which often get mixed up. Also evil eye's group is still out there. I don't think the story is over just yet.
It’s funny how Renner, for her entire life, was pretty much gonna be used as a pawn, and now she used her family and her entire kingdom as her pawns…how the tables have turned.
Renner is the biggest winner of anyone in this series. She saw her opportunity and took it. She's just as messed up if not more so than the NPCs, but it's worse because she wasn't designed to act that way. She just is. In a world as hellish as Overlord's, Renner found her way towards eternal happiness. She avoids slaughter or torture like many of the New World will suffer. Instead, she gets an eternity of sexy times with her favorite toy. Renner is the winner of Overlord. She worked for her happy ending and was rewarded. She won.
The anime played up her psychopathy, but she even gave a plan that would have saved most people in the kingdom. Her plan of betrayal was to set up a civil war that would kill off the corrupt nobles. Philip screwed that up. Renner needed to improvise and managed to still get her happy ending with Climb. I consider her evil still (mainly because Overlord uses a karmic system which judges actions, not intentions or “virtuous character”), but I’m legit happy for her. Yes she killed the orphans and her father, but they were dead no matter what and the method she used was merciful. Girl even practiced her swing with Razor Edge last episode to make sure it was possible to kill her father instantly.
@@asw654 The anime played up the crazy. I'd say she's a psychopath through and through. Though you bring up a good point, she's probably had a net positive impact on the New World without Philip, and all while being absolutely deranged
@@hat1324 That's almost certain. If Demiurge was left to his own devices, things would have been much worse for the kingdom (yes, for many, even worse than utter destruction). Given how powerful Nazarick is, anyone who knew the discrepancy in power and how evil Nazarick can be (which you would, if the first guardian you meet was Demiurge of all people) would know how hopeless things were and anything was better than what fate had in store. (We'll get a hint of that in the movie when they show the Holy Kingdom arc, where Demiurge takes off the kiddie gloves.) Frankly, if it's just about the betrayal itself, I think I might have done the exact same thing as Renner, even if i wanted to save people. There's literally nothing you can do to influence Nazarick as an outsider. You'll only have any say as an insider, or else people in Nazarick treat you like you're less than dirt. You're forced to betray to save people. Not to say that Renner was trying to save everyone, especially if it would risk getting Climb hurt, but that her actions were what anyone smart would have done. It's really not her problem that Philip screwed things up. Is it unnatural and sociopathic that she feels no guilt? Yes, even though logically speaking, it was Philip's fault... it's still unsettling how quickly she switches gears and just abandons every other priority other than Climb ones her original plan was ruined. I think this part of the LN made her character more nuanced. The anime definitely changed her slightly and made her less nuanced for shock factor, and because many people are fascinated by sociopaths and flanderize them (just look at Classroom of the Elite, LN vs anime). For example, that line Albedo said, "Ninety percent of the plan was yours after all..." Wasn't said in the LN. In the LN, Albedo just praised her intelligence and ability and also threatened her to work harder for Ainz. That's it. The "ninety-percent" line doesn't even make sense. What plan are we talking about? The one that was discarded after Philip made Nazarick go nuclear?
@@asw654 Ehh, the impact was there. It made me think that she had planned for someone like Phillip to screw things up, expected it even. All of which helps to just highlight how big brained she is in this series.
Oh so she may have already been imp much earlier, maybe shortly after she got the Seed of the Fallen from Albedo? Explains how she held the sword from Climb so easily
@@KuraSourTakanHour I think she transformed after her last visit to the orphanage. For what I remember, she poisoned all the kids and staff because sacrifices were required for the transformation. I might be remembering wrong.
The modern Yandere Queen. She's smart to gaslight her lover. Most Yanderes show who they truly are and realistically and most of the time fail at their romance but Renner is built different. She doesn't need Climb to love her true self because as long as he loves her that's all that matters.
Honestly at this point, she can show her true colors and Climb would think “it’s because she’s a demon now that she’s being like this, and she did this for me…”
She could tell Climb the whole truth and the poor guy would make so many mental gymnastics in order to justify it that it could classify as an olympic sport
She doesn't even treat the end of the kingdom as a minor hurdle. To her who hated the Kingdom from the start because she was isolated it wasn't a sacrifice at all, it was an amazing bargain. She was offered a deal where she gained a literal eternity with her love as a heteromorph unbound by mortality and age and all she had to give up was a kingdom that she never loved. Its like if you were told that someone would give you the literal Holy Grail for that one toy that you grew up always hating but never being allowed to throw away in the trash.
Some guy: "I shall grant you the legendary Holy Grail~! -for that action figure of the green power ranger" Me: * walks away with the green power ranger action figure
And while sacrificing her kingdom, all she had to do was grant a merciful death to some orphans and her father who would have suffered more if she didn’t do it. She even fed those orphans good food along with the poison. She even practiced her swing with Razor’s Edge in the previous episode to make sure she could do it in one swing. And her original plan for the kingdom before Philip screwed it up would have been far less bloodshed. She would have saved millions… considering that Demiurge when left alone to his own devices does far far worse for a kingdom (to be revealed in the holy kingdom arc). Betraying the kingdom to save Climb while also making it possible to influence Nazarick as an insider? Practically a saint!
@@asw654 That's Bs..as if dying in poison is quick, I doubt she even thought of granting them a merciful death so stop sugar coating it. The original plan was so evil enough that Ainz thought Demiurge who planned it, less bloodshed doesn't mean it was better or merciful. You've been spreading this bs for weeks 🤣
As an LN reader, I can only say that I loved the episode so much that I even forgot about the things they cut, which is saying a lot for an LN fan who constantly complains about it. Season 4 was great overall but the ending was just perfect.🤩 I didn't expect them to add a scene of her dancing and singing, and that fit her so perfectly that it blew my mind. An Evil Disney Princess indeed.
she even gave climb a false story about how ainz made her a demon and made her pledge loyalty to ainz so that he would resurrect climb in return, so that climb won't hate her.
She got literally everything she ever wanted, the eternal safety of living in Nazarick, escaping her political duties as the princess, lifespan immortality for herself and her beloved puppy, emotional and moral freedom and every single bad deed she did to get to this point she got away with scott free
Best part about that is that in this scene, she told only truth to climb, she technically didnt lie in her words, but the context and phrasing just was enough for climb to believe that it was all ainz's will, that she only pledged loyalty to him *after* seeing climb get killed even though she did it long before and it was all a setup, this is just peak manipulation
The thing I will say, is the way she interacts with climb. I feel like she's the best yandere. Because she doesn't physically force they're romantic interest to fall for her. Sure she manipulated the sidelines and gaslight, but overall she treats him right. She never raised a hand, or attempted to threaten him to lover her. She did what it took for them both to be happy. She sacrifices everyone else for their love. While most yandere will cut limbs, or torture their love, and everyone else. So even tho it's not the best type of relationship it's better than the rest of the yanderes
There's a good kind of yandere than there's a BAD kind of yandere the good kind will do anything regardless of consequence for your love and praise so you can direct what they do and "leash" their bad tendencies and will have an uncanny loyalty the bad kind of yandere will cut your hands off so that they can fuck themselves well kissing your broken body. since she wants to make climb her "puppy" I think Renner is kinda on the edge of the two all I know is much snu snu awaits that boy
Lol She was doing exactly this. First she kinda breaks his Will and mind. She also which is not mentioned here that he get not fully healed so she can nurse him back to health herself. She also rapes him she rapes him many many times.
That throne room scene was very cool. Ainz really played his part as the "Dark Lord" well. They even had a Jedi-Sith fight scene. But ALAS, unfortunately for Climb, their story isn't about the good guys winning, there's no special power-up (neither the sword nor the ring) and theres no Deus Ex Machina to let him overcome the shear amount of difference between their levels. That was actually a great fight made even spicier by Ainz own lines. I loved he part where he taunted the Hero saying "which will make you suffer the most? Im guess not answering will give the best effect." That's absolute CHAD VILLAINRY right there. 🤣👌
@@LathropLdST morbid curiosity. Really. Ainz wants to know if such "wildcard" effects exist in this world. If they did he would need to account for it.
Renner singing like a disney princess was unexpected lol I thought she would do something like that in her princess outfit. But she did that like acting like albedo 😂👏👏
"If this was a story, your rage would call forth the hidden power within you (Hero) in order to cut me (Evil) down, but this is reality, such a thing won't happen" -Ainz Ooal Gown (Overlord :S4)
You can just feel "dread" all over the episode, especially during Renner's lines after talking with Albedo. Such great delivery and the direction of this episode was really wonderful to experience.
One of the memorial part was when Climb rushs to door while the “ice maids” claims that he was “the last human”. Then as he enters, he thinks that Ainz controls Renner to kill the King. Ainz gets confused and looks at Albedo and Demuir for a couple of seconds. The fact is that even Renner was delighted that Ainz would play along to her BS. Beautiful season!! Well done 👏👏👏
I remember in the LN Renner was horrified about Ainz being there because she thought he saw through her not wanting to work all out and mess around with Climb. She also thought he purposely humiliated himself with the act to make Albedo angry at Renner to ensure her loyalty and hard work.
@@souk4507 The part with Brain was good in the anime, but kills you in the LN. I won’t spoil but I shed a singly manly tear that Brain achieved what he always wanted to at the end.
It's ironic that at the end of the day, in this episode it portrays render as being more evil than ainz. He did it for many reasons, he did it to help prevent future conflicts by proving how powerful nazaric is. Render did thi to keep climb and for vengeance.
Well for Ainz it was just all calculated. Morality didnt need to be an issue since he's undead after all but his karma rating really shows his allegiance to evil. And in fact its proven by his own actions, massacring millions just to prove a point. Just like how their discussion with the Prince on how it would be better if they allowed them to be a vassal and pleaded for mercy but did not gained one because in the Overlord's mind, it wont get the desired effect. Which is "Dont mess with my Kingdom." And thus why, the prince's kingdom must be sacrificed for the good and ill it will result.
@@notarmchairhistorian7779 doesn't that make sense to a degree though? If accepted as a vassal, yes they would've spread the whole join us or fall strategy, but it wouldn't have provided a comparison of what happens if you're not cooperative with nazaric. It was a cruel choice, but if you're ainz, in which you care little for anyone outside nazaric unless they're truly rare and earnest people, then it does make sense
@@notarmchairhistorian7779 his character alignment doesn’t seem to affect his mentality, but his race does. His strong emotions are suppressed because of his undead body and he feels no kinship at all with other humans. Ainz is willing to kill millions, all for nazarick. Even during another event, he wondered if he should let more die if it brought greater benefit to the tomb. To ainz, nazarick and it’s npcs are his everything, the same way that climb is to renner
We knew she was evil and was sacrificing the kingdom for her goal, but what actually hit me out of left field was when it was mentioned that the fall of the kingdom was 90% HER idea. I’ve heard that in terms of intelligence she’d be up there with demiurge but HOLYYY
Eh, the Kingdom was always on the edge of a civil war. She new the politics so made sense for her to map out the plan . She just hid the little push she gave it
She is so intelligent and yet not prideful. She'd go around acting stupid and it fooled everyone. Zannac is the only one that knows how cunning she is.
What i loved the most was when climb came and demiurge said to “prostrate himself” Renner wasn't affected but bowed to them and climb being naive he thought he did something to her
What Renner does is f*cking brutal, but that's from the perspective of a human. From anyone in Nazarick, it was like an outsider proving themselves to be an acceptable member of Nazarick.
The Kingdom is going to fall anyways with all the 'better' nobles dead at Kazte Plains and idiots like Phillip taking over. Could Zanac stop these idiots from provoking Nazarick? Albeto couldn't stop them from provoking Nazarick and she was manipulating him. Without Renner's plan, Re-estize would have gotten the Quagoa treatment.
They did not need to go THAT HARD for Renner's transformation but I'm so glad they did! As a LN reader, they have definitely went above and beyond for that scene! The dance and singing was just GLORIOUS~!
Finally, a strong independent woman with agency as a Disney princess. LOL Her song was the cherry on top. Climb battered, feeling horrible and shocked to the core was definitely not in h0rn y mode... She however, was happier than I was when I finally graduated... She sang with an angelic and happy voice, but the lyrics didn't match up... This really represents her.
A lot of comment say Renner is evil, but she’s just so intelligent that one can’t say her actions are evil or good. It’s akin to playing a game of chess, making sacrifices here and there as a mean to her ultimate goal - that would be an open relationship of Climb and with him willingly. She knew from the beginning that the kingdom would fall if Ainz ever attack and calculated her chances of survival with Climb alive.
No, her actions were evil. She could have worked her ass off with zanac to reduce the nobles influence etc. But she chose the path that benefitted her. She brought reavan into nazariks fold (yknow, the one good guy noble Zanac knew) and was engineering a situation that would bring the kingdomas a whole under Ainz patronship. Minus a few million people. But then the train gets derailed by Nobleass McBumpkin and she went: "well this is a good opportunity to get what i want much faster." And of they go.
As an anime only, chibi, this my favourite anime of the summer, ovelord could also very well win best fantasy in the anime awards, its so good😍😍, can't wait for the movie
Some Notes from this episode (correct me if im wrong): 1. Mare given the job to annihilate and destroy the kingdom and Climb didnt get killed by him because of agreement between Renner and Sorcerer Kingdom and he afraid that he can't klll everyone that he should kill 2. The agreement start from Demiurge meet Renner in Season 2 3. The reason Renner selling out her kingdom is simple, she just want to spend time with Climb forever (doing sex and make him like a toy/loyal dog) 4. Aura trying to take back the Goat artifact from season 2 5. When Climb running with Renner, Renner she doesn't tired at all running while holding a heavy sword. This scene we can conclude Renner starting to turn into demon (Demon Imp) 6. The red orb in Ainz stomach is World Class Item and in the previous episode when you look at Fake Ainz (Pandora's Actor) there's no red orb on his stomach, that's the reason why he cant get through PDL's barrier 7. In the throne room the one who kill the King is Renner 8. In the throne room Climb looking at Albedo and Demiurge smiling, the reason they smile because both of them think Climb is so foolish 9. Albedo handpick Noble who swore loyalty to Sorcererous Kingdom, that's why there's Marquis Raeven and some noble 10. Yes, Lord Philip is dead and being tortured by Albedo by being impaled from rectum to mouth with other people (well, think of it like making a tree with a bunch of people) 11. 90% of this planned by Renner from season 2. Renner has stat lvl 5 Genius and lvl 4 Actrees and lvl 1 Imp 12. Renner actually didnt want to fully show her capabilities, but because Ainz come into the throne room to join her little play, she must show her full capabilities as to not dissappoint Ainz just like what Albedo said to her in Nazarick (she didn't expect AT ALL) 13. Fallen seed is being used to turn you into demon (in Renner case is Imp). The requirement to use this is sacrifice something with your own hands. Renner poison all the children in orphanage to fulfill this requirement and kill the king with her own hands. 14. Yes, Renner is the most fucked up character in this anime from her childhood. I mean she did all of this just because she want to have sex with Climb The Movie will be about Holy Kingdom vs Jaldabaoth arc. This one truly scary especially New Sword that will appear in this movie And Light Novel almost end (i think the authour said it will end in volume 18) and this episode actually adaptation from volume 14, so after this for Season will be adapted from volume 15 and 16 (Half-Elf God Kin) and so on.
Confused by #12. In the throne room, what did she do differently than she would have had Ainz not been there? Completely missed #13. Was that even implied in the Anime? I don't recall it ever being implied the food she brought the orphanage was poisoned. Good to know. #14. I mean, she pretty much had control of him this entire time. She could have just ordered him to fuck her, and he wouldn't been able to decline. Unless you mean her ultimate goal was immortality with him. #5 Last episode, there was a scene of Renner swinging the sword.
@@visoth7791 For #12 she was planning on lowballing her abilities. Ainz showing up was like saying the CEO showing up to help a manager from a local McDonalds. Not expected at all. She interpret it as him seeing through her act. Basically Ainz knew she was acting below her abilities otherwise he would not have personally come in to help her. Why? Because why would someone powerful and smart help a person that at best was almost as smart as his subordinates (the role she was playing). So, she deduced that Ainz knew her real abilities and she could no longer play dumb. Otherwise it would be like a person knowing you are a grandmaster and coming to play chess against the grandmaster but you act like beginner. It is insulting, and insulting someone like Ainz would be asking for death. So she went all out, and in the process revealed her true abilities to everyone she was hiding it from. Which in turn terrifies her, because someone could easily see through her, force her to reveal her true abilities and do so by making a simple choice. Like moving a pawn forward revealing you just checked, and can mate in two turns unless you make a play only a grandmaster could. #13 is not even implied in the light novel. You need outside sources to read to know this. Well, more like it is as implied in the light novel as it is in the anime. I don't remember much talk about the kids on the orphanage other than Renner giving them food. #14, not really. Climb would have refused to sleep with her if she ordered it because it was not proper, and out of his station. She really needed to get rid of the kingdom to break that social distance in a way. Her brother's offer would have worked too, but it came too late as all the plans for the kingdom were already in motion. #5 I agree, that is also another slight indication. It also happened after the kids food delivery, which you don;t notice unless you know about #13.
@@visoth7791 #12 in the novel Renner looks afraid because Ainz came to the throne room because she didnt expect that at all. Because Ainz, which is the king of a kingdom come personally to watch her "play" so she need to use her full capabilities after joining the sorcerous kingdom because of Ainz expectation of her. If not.... you can expect something worse than death. #13 in the novel too it never really tell about what sacrifice Renner give to change race into demon Imp, but still the LN reader try to theorize and it is revealed now
@@visoth7791 #14 she can do that but you know about commoner and noble thing... if there's rumour about it then something bad will happen #5 yes and it is more confirmed in this episode
One thing I loved about the Climb vs Ainz fight is at the end, Climb mentions, "to think that someone like me made the Sorcerer King use magic on me..." Someone who's been through-out his life been told he's no-one special and very mundane, forced a magic user to use OP magic to kill him.
I love how cocytus used the god slaying emperor blade (which was passed down by his creator) just to kill brain, it shows that brain is a worthy warrior to be killed by that blade.
Renner as a demon is so beautifull ! Just because she is herself, not forced to play comedy as a "little pretty princess" like before. She is just lovely now ! She desserves the happiness she has fought for all along.
Hey dont say that this is last episode of S4 not Overlord, lets hope for the best and we might get S5 this was 14 Volume The Autor said there will be 17 Volumes so there is a chanse of 1 last season.
23 minutes and the ... BEST Disney story in awhile: It had a sing along song. A lovestruck princess, a hero trying to save said princess. And a happily forever-ever after.
This episode was a masterpiece. The story where the Dark Lord wins and even Renner. Just damn. That was creepy a f, but good. PEAK Overlord! Just to let everyone know, the Holy Kingdom Arc happened somewhere between episode 7-8. It is not after this arc.
This represents what makes Overlord so good. They aren't afraid to kill of characters if its needed. Nothing is left of the old kingdom, even the final human in the lineage of the royal family no longer exists. Renner just feels right as a demon. Such a wonderful episode and an awesome season as a whole.
Brain dying was a bit overboard, introducing a new hurdle of sorts to overcome this late in the series? Feels like an L to Nier switch even though brain was never indicated to stand a chance
In a hypothetical Overlord sequel gaining the power to defeat the Sorcerer King might not be the biggest problem for a would-be hero, but having enough of a reason to stand against him in the first place. Ainz's pretty much set on ruling his kingdom as benevolently as possible and all of his minions are fanatically loyal to him, meaning most of the plot devices usually employed to set a hero on their path aren't an option.
This is the greatest episode in isekai history; hell one of if not THE greatest moment in ALL of anime history. The power of friendship FAILED. Horribly. It’s so strangely satisfying to see what is essentially a cardboard cutout ‘hero of justice’ get schooled by a complex villain: in dialogue and in combat. It feels like the whole scene was tailored to prove Ainz’ point. In the real world, only the strong survive and thrive because the world revolves around no one. It favors no one; it’s utterly random. The stronger you are, the less that that randomness affects you. Lofty ideal are worthless without power, yet power without ideals is empty. Ainz had both and he proved the stronger for it.
The only thing I will say, in climbs speech to ainz, he goes on about how no one would die, how everything would be good if ainz hadn't turned up; at the end of the day, the kingdom was corrupt as hell and was doomed to fail with all the in fighting. Ainz just dealt with it brutally and frankly. At the end of the day, the only people worth really saving were the ones saved by ainz.
From what I've heard from others who are more informed, the author stated in a "what if" scenario that if Ainz was never brought to the new world that Zanac and Renner would have led the kingdom to prosperity.
@@dragonroots they may have lead to prosperity, but would have been eventual, there was alot of corruption and they would have needed to be rid of many nobles and all of 8 fingers, not an easy feat. At the end of the day, zanac would've been a decent enough king, but without renner, they would've been screwed.
@@drex1239 he did save the nobles who were genuine and served a proper purpose. The loss of the innocent civilians and the like were an issue, and I don't agree with that, but the sheer amount of people that were in power who were just wrong in so many ways and self obsessed that it's forgotten that alot of people had no idea
@@kurogane9167 but don’t forget he also saved the people of the underground network eight fingers, which are really rotten to the core, or at least before they were brought to Nazarick. But only their leaders had to live through that. What about their underlings? They are still evil and rotten. So I wouldn‘t say all that were worth saving were saved by Ainz. At least not from a personality or moral perspective. He saved those that are useful to him as pawns
There is an irony about if someone actually does defeat Ainz. While he let's his minions typically do what they wish, there is always a leash. If he were to die, how much havoc could they unleash in their anger and grief.
I always loved the idea of ainz becoming a true overlord of the new world and then thousands of years pass and a player from yggdrasil is teleported to the new world and has to fight an actual demon king.
Just extra info for anime only fans , the kingdom is fated to fail even if ainz didn't invade it, not only because of corrupt noble but also from outside influence (theocracy losing faith and supporting the empire before their vassalization with sorcerous kingdoms). Renner is actually afraid of Ainz because how albedo and demiurge gaslight her into thinking Ainz is a genius beyond comprehension which was cemented when Ainz himself showed up in the throne-room making her think that she couldn't best Ainz in anyway same with why Jircniv feeling hopeless.
And to think her Dad only had plans to marry her off like all her other sisters in the early books. Now she's got everything she wanted with Nazarick and is valued more than she was in the kingdom
This episode can be summed up with Princess Renner with this quote "Yas queen, slay, Slay, SLAY YOUR ENEMIES, RULER OF ALL THE RELEMS OF MEN, SMITE THOSE THAT OPPOSE YOU!"🔥🔥🔥 12 OUT OF 10 EPISODE I LOVE OVERLORD SO MUCH!!!
As a battle Shonen fan watching this entire season of overlord felt like watching the arc when the hidden leaf was getting invaded by the Akatsuki and we are all rooting for Pain in Naruto Shippuden.
@@rickchakraborty2087 are you seriously answering a rhethoric question? 😂 They usually display their choices in plain sight...I knew OP was one when I saw the shounen alien in his avatar. Hard to ignore 😒
It's kinda sad that Zanac and Brain died without knowing that Renner willingly sold out the kingdom that they were trying very hard to protect. I can't begin to imagine the level of shock they'll have if they knew that the princess had a hand in all of this. Well, at least the king knew of her betrayal in his final moments.
Really loved this episode, felt like a culmination of Renner as a character. Overlord has done a very good job hinting throughout the anime that something like this could happen, but seeing it was crazy.
The whole episode was done so well, but Renner's singing and dancing scene takes the cake as arguibly the best scene in all of Overlord A mad genius of a Princess that betrayed her family as well as her kingdom for power, immortality and her own sick fantasy; dancing to the tune of her own voice and that of the capital she spent her whole life in crumbling all around her Its a beautifull and haunting scene that wasn't even in the LN, but entirely something they added in to cap off probably the best season of the show so far. If this is the level of quality we can expect from the upcoming movie, then I am totally onboard.
(sorry for my bad english) Yeah The Character acting (body language) of that Scene was so damn good too. It was absolutely Beautiful and haunting as you said. Body language in anime is Something that is much less known. Sometimes it,s even harder than some sakugas to animate. The Animators Really put their heart into this. They probably had more time. Because The Quality and the Animation was a big step up
Renner just casually talked about smashing climb for the first time while he's basically bed ridden ATM. And then proceeds to sing about her overall W in Disney fashion. This chic is on a whole new level of tsundere.
Well she actualy raped him and not just once. Thats why she actualy asked that he got resurected by not to perfect health so she can well nurse him back herself while completly duck his mind. And well while she does this she rapes him.
I swear Overlord as a series is no doubt my #1 favorite anime ever, even outta the 418 anime i have watched. It is just SO Dang Goood! (Honorable mentions to Steins Gate, Code geass and Reincarnated as Slime)
I took him sitting on the rubble as a kind of symbolism. Like showing how much he has changed, as he now sits upon a throne of ruin. Very befitting for his character which he is slowly loosing himself to. Although I could just be reading way too much into it.
I do not have enough hats to tip to Madhouse for Disney Villain song / dance sequence. THIS WAS PEAK!!!! They hit this so far out of the park it has not landed yet.
Love the light the novel but honestly I really think this episode was a upgrade from the light novel. The facial expressions and flashbacks not to mention the singing demented princess.... Soooo much freaking better than the light novel and I love the light novel!
Renner basically do what Ainz tell Zanac in previous episode. If there an easy way to grasp your happiness (with a price) will you do its. Renner : Yes gladly.
Renner: I don't know why the sorcerer King went along with my charade personally... Ainz: FINALLY...SOME ROLEPLAY! For context, in Nazarick, the Supreme beings would stand in their chambers and people like Ulbert would give an evil speech like welcoming the adventures to hell or something. The set-up was pretty similar even, the throne room, the despair, the evil speech. The way Ainz acted here is pretty close to how he would treat players who reached him, playing up the villain role.
This episode was honestly the perfect capstone for what in my opinion was a really good season of Overlord. I really loved the song Renner sang. Its amazing how they topped basically any disney princess movie made recently with that one short scene imo. Would be cool to see more stories of evil princesses or just villains being the main characters like with Overlord.
I kind of watched the last 3 episodes in 1 go and yea I had a smile the entire time. (I also agree with you, Renner makes a good twisted corrupted Disney princess, to the point that her arc is much better then what ever crap is coming out of the Mouse Empire these days).
For those who ever watched or read Berserk, Renner did the exactly same thing as Griffith during the Eclipse, she sacrificed everyone that put trust on her just to accomplish her selfish wish... And we´re not that shocked at all, because we r watching the show, most of the time, from the Devil´s perspective. That was INSANE!!!!
Watching that hero rise up from the ashes to challenge Ainz would be great! And then Ainz uses grasp heart and kills them in the middle of the hero speech. That would be even greater.
The only way I can think someone could challenge Ains would be if, in a follow on series, if Touchme got brought to the new world and was disgusted with all Ains had done and that would close the loop. Ains' best friend. The one who saved him long ago, now stands against him
The punishment for philip would have been even more impactful if they did a shot of the fate that the people of his territory suffered and why his father wanted him to suffer like they suffered
The Renner dance hit me like it tried to be CGI but wasn't, as if they renderered the scene in CGI and then drew it by hand using it as a reference Also: demon Renner, I'll take two please
(sorry for my bad english) That is Something called good Character acting (body language). And yeah it probably rotoscoped. (it,s more expensive) they Really put their heart on this Scene.
She chose the winning side. A kingdom rotting and fighting or a pantheon of magical beings with powers unimaginable and united and on the rise. I think we'd all prob choose the path to immortality and power with a chance of being their equals and to be their for what the drama has yet to play. The treat to be apart of history in the making
I loved this season so much, I just wish it wasn't 13 episodes, I need more Overlord. I always knew Renner was insane but going full-on evil Disney Princess was great. I feel so bad for Climb he was always trying to do what was right, but that is impossible in this world. I can't wait to see what a Season 5 will be like whenever that comes.
Renner is the stereotypical good character with a dark secret, done correctly. The only thing is, we see it from the perspective of the villains. If we'd seen this from the hero side, she'd be the most hated, the series would be over, and there'd be a huge uproar about how little development was shown. Even if flashbacks and an explanation were detailed. She is one of the few villains who betrays the good guys, and gets EXACTLY what she wants. The big bad doesnt backstab her, she doesn't get greedy and over step, she perfectly executed her job to get exactly the outcome she wanted. That's what makes her so unique. Even in cases like Albedo, Demiurge, etc. There's a small room of error, or threat to them one day betraying Ainz for whatever reason. For her, no. She got immortality, and her pet, and she's cool with just that... and what makes it more terrifying is if she ever wants more, Ainz now knows she'll execute things perfectly for him to get whatever it is.

she is only lvl 10 she gets beaten even by some one of climbs level.
I love her being a Disney villainous singing a love tune with the knowledge of how sadistic she is. Holy
Pretty much how the entire story is. Everything is flipped in every way possible
Oh how the turned have tables!
Not only flipped the table but then proceeded to throw it in the wood chipper as well
If this comment was a reference about chess.. I think Renner just used the king chess piece as multi-directional pawn and the rest are just pawns.
Renner flipping the words "happy ending" upside down, minces it to pieces and then eat it.
I think she didnt need to dirtying her hands. But she did it anyways in the end.
She must have wanted to kill her father herself.
(We'll get a hint of that in the movie when they show the Holy Kingdom arc, where Demiurge takes off the kiddie gloves.)
Frankly, if it's just about the betrayal itself, I think I might have done the exact same thing as Renner, even if i wanted to save people.

You can feel the deep fear and respect from Renner for Albedo and Ains .. really great delivery.

2. The agreement start from Demiurge meet Renner in Season 2
3. The reason Renner selling out her kingdom is simple, she just want to spend time with Climb forever (doing sex and make him like a toy/loyal dog)
4. Aura trying to take back the Goat artifact from season 2
5. When Climb running with Renner, Renner she doesn't tired at all running while holding a heavy sword. This scene we can conclude Renner starting to turn into demon (Demon Imp)
6. The red orb in Ainz stomach is World Class Item and in the previous episode when you look at Fake Ainz (Pandora's Actor) there's no red orb on his stomach, that's the reason why he cant get through PDL's barrier
7. In the throne room the one who kill the King is Renner
8. In the throne room Climb looking at Albedo and Demiurge smiling, the reason they smile because both of them think Climb is so foolish
9. Albedo handpick Noble who swore loyalty to Sorcererous Kingdom, that's why there's Marquis Raeven and some noble
10. Yes, Lord Philip is dead and being tortured by Albedo by being impaled from rectum to mouth with other people (well, think of it like making a tree with a bunch of people)
11. 90% of this planned by Renner from season 2. Renner has stat lvl 5 Genius and lvl 4 Actrees and lvl 1 Imp
12. Renner actually didnt want to fully show her capabilities, but because Ainz come into the throne room to join her little play, she must show her full capabilities as to not dissappoint Ainz just like what Albedo said to her in Nazarick (she didn't expect AT ALL)
I mean she did all of this just because she want to have sex with Climb

@@visoth7791
For #12 she was planning on lowballing her abilities.

I liked her at first but now I LOVE her!!! When she got what she wanted and all her plans came to fruition, I felt so happy for her!
Yeah also this whole oh there is this hero who will bring down the "Villian" would also be so sterotypical boring.
That's not true. There where many worth saving that weren't considered by ainz. At least more than just climb
It would be tensura on steroids
Everyone wouldn't be safe
That's what I love about Momonga 😂 he's actually role playing
Renner is a disney princess. She has obtained her "and they lived happily ever after". Literally.
I always loved the idea of ainz becoming a true overlord of the new world and then thousands of years pass and a player from yggdrasil is teleported to the new world and has to fight an actual demon king.
the way i saw cocytus walking around brain, was allowing brain to successfully block his path, and not allow his death to be totally meaningless.
Daughter : Dad, I want to watch Frozen
Bone Daddy : We got Frozen at home.
(Frozen at home)
Why are you $hittin9 on Overlord with that comparison to a puny arc in a tra$h level chow-nen?
@@LathropLdST because he is a battle shonen fan
@@rickchakraborty2087 are you seriously answering a rhethoric question? 😂 They usually display their choices in plain sight...I knew OP was one when I saw the shounen alien in his avatar. Hard to ignore 😒
She had a dream and she made it come true and sang a song about it.
Usually in fiction, this is a nice thing^^`
Top tier episode. Hope it gets another season!
Start watching Overlord because of your channel, many years ago, glad to see you still reacting to the series.
The whole episode was done so well, but Renner's singing and dancing scene takes the cake as arguibly the best scene in all of Overlord
A mad genius of a Princess that betrayed her family as well as her kingdom for power, immortality and her own sick fantasy; dancing to the tune of her own voice and that of the capital she spent her whole life in crumbling all around her
Its a beautifull and haunting scene that wasn't even in the LN, but entirely something they added in to cap off probably the best season of the show so far.
When i saw princess Renner I WAS SURPRISED
That PRETTY 😍 2 face botch sure got me excited
Her singing too was crazy
Love the light the novel but honestly I really think this episode was a upgrade from the light novel. The facial expressions and flashbacks not to mention the singing demented princess.... Soooo much freaking better than the light novel and I love the light novel!
Renner basically do what Ainz tell Zanac in previous episode.
If there an easy way to grasp your happiness (with a price) will you do its.
Renner : Yes gladly.
That Disney Villain Princess song from Renner was not necessary but a welcome one.
Didnt expect it but damn was it good
@@ChibiReviews Kinda wish to see the Forest of Vlad the Impaller though. LOL
BRRRROOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
LIKE WTF BEST EPISODE EVER
I REWATCHED THE 1ST 3 SEASONS AND HOLY SHIT EVERYTHING IS COMING TOGETHER
We need a full version of Renner's song🎶
Indeed
The budget they put in the song.
God dammit it was worth it.
Renner really caught my heart this episode 😂😂😂 that song was unexpected and much appreciated!
The only way I can think someone could challenge Ains would be if, in a follow on series, if Touchme got brought to the new world and was disgusted with all Ains had done and that would close the loop. Ains' best friend. The one who saved him long ago, now stands against him
Doubt he would do this. What Ains is doing is actualy not lets say completlyl Evil. His End Goal is actualy quite good.
@@susakuzero still defending him?
What a begining to the video, after yesterday's bad news, its great to start with such a happy intro
The punishment for philip would have been even more impactful if they did a shot of the fate that the people of his territory suffered and why his father wanted him to suffer like they suffered
That musical seals the deal. That was unexpectedly amazing!
The Renner dance hit me like it tried to be CGI but wasn't, as if they renderered the scene in CGI and then drew it by hand using it as a reference
Also: demon Renner, I'll take two please
Was probably rotoscoped. Such a definitive scene would absolutely warrant the effort.
Loved this moment, it really brought the season back up for me It's a shame, though, that after all this, she more or less disappears from the story.
Thanks so much man come to hear you talk about overlord consistently now I gotta wait for another season :'(
I loved this season so much, I just wish it wasn't 13 episodes, I need more Overlord. I always knew Renner was insane but going full-on evil Disney Princess was great. I feel so bad for Climb he was always trying to do what was right, but that is impossible in this world. I can't wait to see what a Season 5 will be like whenever that comes.
I disagree, he can do right, just don't expect it would be successful and he would be dead in the end.
That doesn't make the right thing wrong.
Great energy and very well covering up all section ..... Loved it
This ep was really strong. Might be the strongest last ep of the season...
In my opinion holy kingdom arc is the best overlord arc, its funny and terrifying
Philip got the best reward ever!! XD ha ha ha!!
Got a happy ending
...AND!!! the Oscars award for Best female/witch actress of this years goes to...!! Princess Renner!!
I'm really curious to see Climb's reaction to seeing that Sebas also works for Ainz
after everything else, personally I'd shrug...
Seeing sebas and tsuare........ someone needs some explaining to do
Renner is the stereotypical good character with a dark secret, done correctly.
A fight that I would love to see and it might happen in season 5 is between Mare and Antilene.
As someone that knew it was coming. It was still shocking to see.
Remember when chibi reviewed danmachi good times
I still gotta catch up
@@ChibiReviews talk is cheap, we see what other things of lesser quality than danmachi you make time for. Do what you want but you most certainly have time to based on the videos you release. It would also make you more money.
The excitement in chibis voice when talking about overloard s4 finale males me want to rush there. Im currently at s4 ep5
THIS AIN'T A SHONEN STORY THE ANIME
I bet no one expected Renner to just start singing like a Disney princess right there, being all creepy like.
