I couldn't agree more highly underrated performance nobody talks about except people who have a ear and actually listen to music like us and not just hear music. His speed and the way he stopped and just came right back in full throttle from a dead stop and to play all this on a gibson hollow body those guitars were not meant to play fast on and he shredded that fucking guitar to piece and not to mention it was freezing cold this night he performed which makes your fingers and joints numb and nearly impossible to play this fast how he did it wow is amazing.. ive played guitar in the super cold and its super hard to play slow yet alone fast as possible.. words cant describe how amazing that performance was i feel sometimes why is nobody talking about ten years after and alvin lee its insane..
@@cryptonator1988 I totally agree with your comment from A to Z but didn't know that it was cold that night. I was in Woodstock that summer but only visited the festival briefly because my parents thought I was too young. Alvin Lee is indeed vastly underrated because, as you say, to play that fast and that precisely on a hollow body is a feat in itself to which we add the inspirational choice of notes, playing with his eyes closed most of the time and a great passion.
@@cryptonator1988 Correct on playing fast on a ES335, not easy, certainly not like an SG. He wailed and sang too. Quite the performer. Didn't know about the chilly conditions, though. Cheers!
TO GUITARIST VIEW, GREAT PLAYING, YOU GOT IT DOWN. I LEARNED SO MUCH FROM YOU, IT,s MADE MYSELF A BETTER GUITARIST, GREAT JOB,ALVIN LEE WOULD BE PROUD OF YOU, YOUR A TRUE GUITARIST. KEEP PLAYING THEM STRINGS ,YOUR TOO GOOD TO NOT PLAY THEM.😎🎸🔊🎶☮️ BOB.
Dude I saw Alvin in the '90s and the 2000s and he was still in his prime. There are some live recordings floating around that I have of him playing at festivals in Europe not long before he past. Take a listen if you can get your hands on some.
SHIT EFFING HOOOOWDY. This is flamin' BRILL. it's just like I see it, except that my left eye is gone. This POV gives the visuals that're impossible to see on others vids. I can finally "see" the bends when I'm hearing them. And you went beyond other lessons to the later, really fun parts. ROCK ON, BRO⚡This goes to the top of my saved Goin' Home vids. If only I could add a few cms to the length of my stubby fingers.
this point of view is just : perfect !! NOt only doing a solo very clean you offer us the "point of view" we all have ! Nice idea. I had a blue thumb and I suscribed, thanx mate ;)
Cool idea for a channel! It's kinda like I get to see what Alvin saw while playing at Woodstock (except the crowd - but still - pretty cool none-the-less)
Alvin Lee a complete virtuoso... I think comparable to Ritchie Blackmore in terms of technique. Nice rendition man, its not an easy song to play. I play two parts of it different to you, I think he makes a short sweep picking from 4th string to 2nd string c-e-f#-a very fast
Damn this is pretty spot on except now play this as fast as possible and now you have a true alvin lee cover but you have to do it when its freezing cold outside then post that video it will be epic..
Probably one of the greatest electrical solo performances of all time at the Woodstock festival.

One of?
Technically, much more impressive than Jimi Hendrix performance.. I've never understood why nobody talks About the great presentation of Alvin Lee

Saw Alvin play in the mid-80s. I was astonished by him even though he was past his prime, he put in a great show.

Wow, fantastic - my compliments to you! I can't imagine how much effort it took to achieve this rendition with such accuracy.
Thanks for the positive comment.
Excellent dude!!
Best cover! That's the camera angle

Nice to see Alvin remembered like this.
Awesome. Thanks.
Cool! I've been wanting to learn that song forever.
Alvin Lee RIP.
SUPER COOL
This is the right way to show how to play. Like showing your kids how to tie their shoes, reach over them and show from the same p.o.v.
Thank you, you just saved me a lot of time trying to figure it out by ear.
Really really great!
outstanding...
Masterful!! Thanks you for sharing,......

you nailed it
Not only did you nail it, you also got your Tele tone matching a 335, awesome! Those pull-off's on the 5th's are super smooth. Nice job!
I read that Alvin Lee had a tele pickup in the middle position of his heavily modified 335.
@@hurricanejohnson7879 I read it was a strat pickup.
You nailed it, awesome job!
Yeah that's it, alright. Play that one more time and and my head will get to big for the cap I'm wearing. Awesome, man!👍
A golden oldie for sure
