The last time I saw him the band was Alvin Lee and Company the best part was he played with my second favourite guitar player the blonde man Johnny Winter….But as much as I love Alvin Lee the greatest rock ‘n’ roll band the world has ever seen and my top guitar player jimmy page Led Zeppelin … I got to see Led Zeppelin the very first band I ever saw live I was 18 years old it was 1969

Those 1970's. Such a time. In the 50's-60's a bunch of music started with Chuck Berry, Elvis, and the Beatles. Then a bunch of bands and such took all that and took it to new heights. From the first time I heard them at Woodstock Ten Years After were a favorite. To me they blew everybody away and everybody at Woodstock did their best to make the most out of that huge opportunity. Loved your reaction!

Alvin Lee named the band Ten Years After in 1966 - because he considered the emergence of Elvis Presley in 1956, ten years earlier, to be the birth of rock and roll. He was known as one of the fastest British guitarists of the late 60's, and his signature guitar lick shows up in some other peoples' playing.

Ten Years After disbanded in the middle 70's. I could be wrong but
Alvin lee in Flight was his first solo album. A friend played the album for me, been a fan ever since.
He did put together a band called ten years later. Put two albums out that I know of, Rocket Fuel, and
    RIDE ON. Both good albums.
He should've won a grammy for the Woodstock performance.

I was at this concert, it was the KSJO radio station 10th anniversary show at Winterland in San Francisco. Sammy Hagar was the headliner, with Alvin Lee and Ten Years Later, Hoodoo Rhythm Devils, and High Wire Radio Choir the other bands. Hagar had special guests Neal Schon from Journey, Eddie Money, and Jimmy Lyon do a few songs with him. I was standing a few feet to the left of the guy filming, about 20 feet from the stage, dead center. Most Winterland concerts in those days were filmed, almost all in black and white. The whole concert was great, and Ten Years Later did a fine preformance, of course with Alvin Lee's guitar leading the way.

Alvin was quite sober. As you see in Comments, a different performance of this was at Woodstock, where his guitar technique was at its peak. He was a superb guitarist who was not very well known to the general public, but he was admired by musicians and guitarists. The very early TYA albums had some jazz and bluesy numbers. Thanks for your reaction .

Not sure if his skills were at his peak at Woodstock. I think his skills were just as good in 78, however with the big difference that the enjoyment he had in the peak years were gone. He is quite sloppy in his playing, he was not challenged to play good anymore, the crowd would go crazy anyways, and he more or less was changed into the traveling jukebox (his own words) he so much hated.

Love Alvin Lee but his "I'm Going Home" from the Woodstock concert is the ultimate divinitve definition to that song, period. To think that song was included in the movie, and considering the time tells you it was historical and put an unknown British guitarist on the world's stage, is worth checking out. With this concert Alvin was rather sloppy. Still, he could kick ass but back in 78 his time had kinda passed him by Disco, and Punk where the big tickets back in 78 till Van Halen came down off the mountain. But check out the Woodstock version, it's Alvin Lee at his finest!

Nobody cares what the lyrics are; just listening to this almost literal shredding of his axe makes the experience whole. Can you believe "Ten Years After" is NOT IN THE R&R HALL OF FAME?! Somebody's asleep at the wheel. Cannot fathom why the group has been snubbed. Their albums are rather well engineered and sold plenty. Recommend you seek the long version of the Woodstock performance of this song (a hint of Elvis you'll get); absolutely animalistic rock n roll! Nice that you picked a version not many reactors have used. Thanx loads!

Also if ya dig and enjoyed this video and so loved Ten Years After 😀 you may also enjoy the song " Most of All " By Glenn Kaiser and Where Roses Grow Live by Rez Band Awesome songs check them out. Also I remember hearing the song by Led Zepp " In My Time of Dyin " during my drug years and made me think about death and Jesus. Then a hippy friend that dug Jesus told me more of Jesus love and forgiveness and how I could also know Jesus love. So in 1981 I cried out to Jesus and wow man He came into my life and I had and have so much joy and peace and now know that through Jesus when I die I will be with Him in Heaven. Hey Jesus loves each of you also and yall can know Him if you are at all open. Just cry out to Him and a good question to ask yourself if you were to die today would you go to heaven ? And if yes why ? To find out more please read the Gospel of John in the Bible or check out the movie on RUclips. 😀
