  • The Legend of Zelda is split into 3 timelines, but then where do Termina and Lorule fit into the picture? When did those parallel universes split off? Space-time is complicated, so this is Lorule explained, this is Termina explained, this is the Zelda Multiverse explained.

    There is actually An explanation that makes all of the timelines fit into one "universe". Basically, the hero of time was defeated, but by that spell Gannondorf casts at him towards the beginning of the game. The hero is defeated timeline happens, but at the end of a link to the past, Link makes a wish to undo all of gannon's evil. since one of those evils was killing the hero of time, link is revived, but for some reason, 8 years later, causing a new timeline to be born. He defeats Gannon and is sent back in time which causes ANOTHER split. This also explains why their was "an age without a hero" as the hero of twilight gets killed, as he has no hero of time stalfos to teach him some of the still he needs, because the hero of time simply didn't exist in that dimension, as he was sent away by Zelda. The "age without a hero" had a hero, but he died. that's why Hyrule had to be flooded, yada yada yada, and you have Windwaker to explain the rest. Thank you for reading this, this is my first full theory. As for Lorule and Termina,, you nailed it!

    That was pretty thorough, but I believe there's one very small notion you glossed over.
    Demise wanted the Triforce to rule the land, yes, but he also vowed revenge against Zelda and Link. This vow, forged by hatred and darkness, created the recurring prophecy of darkness (Ganondorf/Demise) threatening Hyrule (Zelda), and only the hero of legend (Link) being able to wield the sacred sword of the goddesses to oppose this darkness. It was part power-thirsty tyrant, part personal agenda, that created Ganon in the first place as Twinrova repeatedly summoned Demise from the darkness.
    That creates a small inconsistency with the Majora's Mask theory you set up, which is that Demise would still thirst for revenge against Link and Zelda, and consecutively return of his own accord eventually to claim the land as his, own, whether it's calling itself Hyrule, Termina, or Miami, and then seek out the latest version of the legendary hero to kill him.
    Also, Multiverse canon is the worst canon. It degenerated Pokémon into a cheap joke, made Dragonball a ridiculous mess, and it's by far the laziest plot device to forego coherent writing and acknowledging previous miatakes in establishing a universe.

    Here is how *I* understood things and think how it is:
    -The "Child" and "Adult Timelines" are two *Timelines* existing in *Universe A*
    -The "Declined Timeline" is not really a timeline but mostly it's own universe with only one timeline so far. Lets call it *Universe B*
    -Lorule, Hyrule, Sacred Realm/Dark world, Termina and the Twlight Realm are *Worlds* existing within *Universe A* and *Universe B*
    Lorule is not a Universe it's a parallel world existing in the same universe as Hyrule from ALBW. If Lorule would be visited in in Universe A (depending on the Timeline) than it would mimic that Hyrule (with the opposites that differentiates the two World).
    For example Wind Waker Link somehow goes to Lorule and sees that the sea did not engulf the land.

    I read somewhere (and it might not be canon anymore) that Termina was accidentally made, that when the goddesses breathed life into Hyrule some of their breath entered a crack in space-time creating Termina. I could also theorize that since the Terminians KNEW they were an accident, that they would blaspheme the goddesses and subsequently the Triforce.

    Does Demise actually reincarnate as Ganondorf though? Is it every explicitly stated? Demise says his hate never perishes and it will be born anew. I understood that to mean that he is the embodiment of evil and there will always be evil. That way every monster and villain is Demise not just Ganondorf. Is there anything to disagree with this idea?

    • @nervithor5325
      @nervithor5325 8 лет назад +3

      "he warns Link that it was not over, and that an incarnation of his hatred would be reborn as a being to pursue domination of the world, as well as those with the blood of the goddess and the spirit of the hero, in a cycle without end"
      To make things short
      He can and is most likely to be the reincarnaton of every villain that threatens to domain the world or hunt down zelda or link.
      so yeah... he is ganon, vaati, etc. unless stated otherwise in the future and he may also be some of the monsters on the games (not all though) maybe just the evil ones, and maybe not a direct reincarnation but they are spawns from its evil powers (it's not like the yellow chuchu you just killed is demise itself).
      at least thats how I see the monsters=demise theory.

    • @Supaninjafication
      @Supaninjafication 8 лет назад +3

      Eduardo Morro hat is how I took it. Not Demise = Ganon, I see it as Demise = All evil. We agree.
      Just people say Demise, Zelda and Link all reincarnate and that is not how I take it.
      I also see it as Hylia's curse if anything. She set in place the plan that her chosen hero would fight evil and it just so happens the evil cannot be killed forcing the hero to appear every time.

    Another theory i enjoy that connects to the termina difference has to do with the dark interlopers and ancient hexing tribe of Majora's mask. Theories about design of their relics and both being regarded as "dark" connect the two as one group that eventually become the twili (by canon lore). So i propose that in the child timeline, the goddesses intervene when the interlopers attempt to control the triforce, with the fuzed shadow being their attempt to transform and control the triforce. But the multiverse theory also suggests a timeline where the interlopers succeed in controlling and destroying/transforming the triforce before perishing for an unknown reason (possibly the goddesses intervening too late to stop the process but can stop the interlopers). The stone tower temple was their ritual grounds, hence the triforce blasphemy. The goddesses had a soft spot for the triforce and could not bring themselves to destroy an alternate form of it, so it was instead hidden within the ruins of the ritual grounds before the happy mask salesman came across it and chose to "protect" it leading to the events of MM. With the mask gone, the world found peace and grew to choose new deities (giants) and let technology advance. At some point, rumors of majora's mask began to surface and led to the creation, possibly with the help of the mask salesman who has inter-dimensional powers still to be defined, of a mask of their ultimate deity that they credit with the creation of the universe and the giants in an attempt to combat the possible threat majora's mask poses on their universe. This is the termina that link falls into from within the lost woods, though we still dont know how he returned to his universe to become shade from TP.

    Somewhere over the rainbow there is a Hyrule with a sideways purple triforce made of cookies, everyone only eats pie and the major industry is baking. An incarnation of Demise has been reborn as Ganondorf. He wants to obtain the cookie of power, full of chocolate chips. Link must face off against him in the annual baking tournament. Zelda gets prepared to judge when it starts to rain jelly.
    This is OBVIOUSLY a MAJOR timeline, in which the golden- no- the purple goddesses decide to create the world differently.

  • @kirstyshadowdancer5095

    2 minutes in and already, multiverse theory doesn't actually work like that. The theory states that for every choice, there is a universe where you didn't make that choice. But it does not say every choice creates a new universe. The universe where Link had 2% moomoo may be one where Ganendorf practices ballet on his days off and faries don't exist. Not every choice makes a new universe, only Key choices.
    Minor choices aren't thought to create new realities unless they have major repercussions.

The consequences again aren't apparent immediately but eventually results. If you put it up to the above one, that would mean had you normally picked the fish you usually picked then the family in question would be sick.

    I just figured that, within each of the three timelines, all of the realms (Hyrule, Lorule, Termina, The Twilight Realm, The Sacred Realm, etc.) exist, with the goddesses involved with each of each of them to some extent or another. That said, a very interesting and well thought-out theory. I just never thought to consider the other realms as a multiverse due to timeline alterations.
    To put my throughts in another way:
    The goddesses made three separate main universes, each perhaps with their own sacred realm for their Triforce to dwell: Hyrule, Lorule, and Termina. These don't exist because of timeline alterations of choice, but rather were created separately, from the beginning. Each of these universes has a Triforce due to the goddesses leaving them there upon creation. The Twilight Realm only exists as part of Hyrule for very specific reasons concerning the interlopers. Each timeline split depicted on the timeline envelopes these three universes as a coherent set, if that makes any sense.

    I just wanted to say that the thumbnail got it wrong, the Omniverse is everything, every idea ever thought, every concept ever conceived, it's even bigger than the multiverse, as it contains every multiverse in existence. The omniverse is basically a "set of all sets" if you'll excuse the paradox. Also, I personally like to believe that when the Terminians destroyed the Triforce, the goddesses decided "these guys may have blasfemed our sacred power, but their world too young to be destroyed, like lowrule," and then created the Giants.

    I remember reading a MASSIVE theory regarding Termina and the goddesses, talking about how the people of Ikana were being blasphemous to the Goddesses in many ways, and built the tower as a sort of "Tower of Babel" to go to the heavens and take down the goddesses directly. The theory goes that in response, the goddesses flipped the tower upside down, and the portal at the end of the Stone Tower Temple that sends you to the boss? It was meant to go to the Golden Realm where the Goddesses reside, but instead sends you to hell due to the tower being flipped over.
    The theory was really good, and really went into hardcore details. This video reminds me of it, and I have to wonder if you read it too. :D I actually love this video so much (even though I missed it when it came out). Zelda Theories give me vitality man, and this video is top tier.

    OMG I HAVE A THEORY!!!!! What if every single world in he Zelda multiverse has its own mult-universe metafold like in Xenoblade!!! What if it’s already happened... even as far back as Skyward Sword!!!! Let me explain: Demise was said to have come out of a crack from the earth, and as we can see he has an upside down triforce on his sword. No I’m not saying he’s lorulian, I’m saying that Demise or Yuga or whatever the villain is in each dimension, it’s due to one lustful person of power coming to a different dimension over and over and over in the multiverse. The monsters are all just spawns of hatred. And the demise’s are all just beings from other dimensions of this ENDLESS multiverse.

Like, unless he was split into two separate copies of himself and ONE of them was sent back in time, him being sent back in time means there's no timeline of him living on after the battle as an adult. People always brush over this, and I don't understand it.

  • @twiilit_
    @twiilit_ 8 лет назад

    I think there are two timelines in both Termina and Lorule. Since the Downfall and Adult Timelines start when Link is an adult, Termina would be destroyed in both. Also, for Lorule, since nobody interacted with it in the child and adult timelines, it probably crumbled by the end of those timelines.

    So if this is the case, that leaves one big question unanswered: Where are Hyrule's Four Giants? If Termina is a parallel universe to Hyrule, where the people worship the Four Giants instead of the Goddesses, that must mean that Hyrule must also have its own Four Giants. But where are they?

    Hold up real quick though. That whole link being gone for 7 years wouldn’t trigger the flood. Because regardless he does come back to beat Gannon. I think the time shift thingy happened after he got lost in Termina where I believe that version of link still lives to eternally repeat that 3 day cycle.

    Not that it _really_ affects your theory, but the Triforce wasn't the first decision in the Zelda universe. It is specifically stated in Ocarina of Time that the Triforce was created as the Goddesses left the universe _after_ creating the world.

    The Legend of Hilda would make an Interesting spin-off series. Also the Triforce is golden to represent that it is made from the powers of the three GOLDEN Goddess. Also It is possible that the Goddesses made a different goddess watch over the Triforce in what would eventually become Lorule instead of Hylia. Likely someone with "Lo" in their name to symbolize the different goddess that was worshiped. A Black Triforce would likely either be demonic instead of Holy or have required Three BLACK goddesses to create it.

    DISCLAIMER: I mean no offense, after all multiverse theory is a complicated subject with many versions and intricities which would be difficult to research for such a video, also the zelda universe(s) do seem to use the choice-defined multiverse theory and this is an enjoyable video
    That said, this is ONE theory of a multiverse(also the one that is least likely imho), ironically enough you briefly mentioned the bubble multiverse as well, however you imposed the choice defined multiverse over it. The bubble multiverse theory requires no decision nor does it state that universes divide based on decisions. If however there are infinite universes, then there would be one for every small *logical* difference as result of minute fundamental differences in the fabric of the given universe *not the other way around*, as well as an infinite number of duplicate universes. Further you deciding which milk to drink for breakfast would not be the differentiating factor as we make decisions based on purely deterministic process, so if you were to chose the other milk it would be the result of a difference in your brain, which would likely span more different decisions than merely which milk you drink for breakfast, meaning that it is unlikely a universe exists where the only difference is the milk you drink for breakfast(unless some truly random, independent from the universe, factor is used to make the decision). Finally the biggest problem with multiverse theory as it stands is that it is a non-falsifiable theory, so we might as well occam's razor it away.

    One more idea crosses my mind for Termina - it is a reality created by Demise himself during the era of the war between himself and Hylia. Knowing of the Triforce and its might but outright opposing it would explain the blasphemy against the goddesses, even moreso if Demise's throne as a deity were in Ikana, a country devoted to war and death that also opposed the goddesses. This would make Termina a form of "Hell" in the Zelda universes, and once the source of everyone's oppression (Demise) was destroyed in the mortal world it could begin to exist as a world all its own, apart from the Triforce and therefore not reliant on it. This would also end the Ikana family's influence and cause their kingdom to rot from the inside. Works even better what with the portal to Termina being deep in the ground, the place where the demons were shown to have been sealed at the beginning of Skyward Sword.

  • @TwilightRogue15

    So, first the game series started out as a disconnected series of games. Then the fans started to connect them, but as there were no clear connections, many debated these timelines. It became so large of a debate that Nintendo released their OWN timeline. THEN the fans debated this official timeline! Now it reached a head as a multi universe theory. So, we essentially took a game series with infinite possibilities and cornered it down to only having infinite possibilities. Are you happy, fans?!? Are you?!?
    ...Wait...

    I know this is a 4 year old video but hear me out. In tandem with the theory that there are only two realms. Lorule, The Dark World, The Twilight Realm, Termina. They are all the same, just in different stages throughout the timeline. Going through a deteriorating process from having its triforce destroyed. This is not a new theory.
    BUT, what I have to add to it is that I believe Kilton, Zant, and The Happy Mask Salesman, are also iterations of the dark realms Link just like Ravio. (yes this means I also believe Midna is connected to Hilda but we're not talking about them right now.) They all always have something to do with masks, are associated with the color purple, and typically aid link in some discrete, sometimes borderline cynical, way. (Zant's a pretty far stretch but hey man the twilight realm is jacked up.)
    Anyway where i'm going with this is i'm predicting BotW 2 is going to introduce the other side of the coin for this era and i'm betting Kilton will be playing a pretty decent role in getting you to and from it.

    We could also consider exact timeline duplication. There's no rule against infinite universes that are completely identical. The fact that these duplicates would be exactly the same would pose a huge problem. What would happen if Link is transported into the identical universe where he meets his exact duplicate? How will one link know that they they are the original and that the other is the duplicate if their respective universes are literal clones with zero differences? Would one replace the other or would they team up? Also, what happens to his original universe where he suddenly disappears from the timeline?

    Majora's mask and therefore Termina are in the official child timeline. You can't make a theory that goes against the information already given to us by the makers of the games because it just makes the theory null and void. As for Lorule, (and I'm not sure about this) it has no place on the official timeline meaning that it is completely separate from the the other games just like Hyrule warriors. Also, anything that results in a game over screen or you resetting to the last save point cannot be canon.

  • @adamleviness3868
    @adamleviness3868 5 лет назад

    The only problem I really have is that it wouldn't make sense for Termina to be more technologically advanced because of the absence of war. Historically, war ramps up innovation in technology. Nuclear power, jet engines, the internet, computers, duct tape, GPS, tampons, hell even Spam and Nutella were all created or started to fill a need during war. Nuclear energy is probably the most well-known example thanks to WWII and the Manhattan project. But, there are so many more examples. The need to innovate is cranked up when it means the life or death of your brothers and sisters backed by an unlimited war-time budget.

    Pretty sure that everything you said about Termina implies that it's the future of Lorule. After all, they destroyed the Triforce because they saw it as a horrible object that causes people to turn into monsters over greed, and after Between Worlds we know that Lorule is rebuilt without the Triforce, the different regions and the fact that the giants moved the land to create them (which would be an excellent fix to Lorule's little trench problem)...

    Speaking as someone who was raised mainly on Sierra games, (with some Sega games thrown in here and there,) and who only really got into Zelda during my teenage years, their idea of a "timeline" feels like the plot of the first "Red Vs Blue." A bunch of stuff randomly happens, then they try to tie it together after the fact, even though that was clearly never the intention before.
    I guess what I'm saying is; Wind Waker and Twilight Princess made me stop caring about the "overarching story" of the Zelda series.
