[HTTYD Animation] Baby Nightlights go explore

- After 9 months I finally finished this more or less OK looking animation.
(I started this even before that Christams special.)
Enjoy.
Three little baby dragons, offsprings of Toothles and the light fury are curious creatures so they sneaked out of the Hiden World and went exploring caves on nearby islands. Their happy trip gets interupted by a scary roar of an unknown dragon but don't worry about them, their dad is probably already looking for them.
Before you start asking, the music is "Unstopable" from RUclips Library and the program I used to animate is called Blender and this is CGI/3D animation not a "drawing" as some people confuse this.

Your hard working surely was worth it! I rarely ever get to see such well made animations like this and yet again, knowing that you had to animate 3 little nightlights which is hard to do because of all the movement in each scene you did a Brilliant job!!

Hi, well done, such great work here! The annimations are sometimes "repetitive" but this is so great, i know that with more working time (not necessary at all) you could made different annimations instead of reusing the same one at each time!
I also wanted to tell you that between the last time where i discovered your channel and your such beautiful work and now, i have learned to model in 3D, before that, i had never used a 3D modeling software, and i wanted to learn how to do it for a while, but i never did it, and since i saw your video, you made me want to do it, you gave me the passion for 3D modeling and now i work everyday to improve myself with the end goal objective of modeling and rigging a model of Toothless and maybe Hiccup too!

Holy wow!!! This is rlly good!!! I can barely do anything 3d! Its prob REALLY hard to animate! When they were flying I was really impressed! The wings can be a bit more flexible tho but that wont stop me from loving it!!! ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ I see lots of stiff characters but I'd say yours is pretty flexible!!! Just a little less stiff and I'd believe it's a deleted scene from the movies! Lol

theese models are sooo cool i want them too but you made them and you probs wont give me them:C
They are glitchy, the rig is not symmetrical and they are hard to animate with but I'm planning to make a Toothless model and if it turns out good enough, I will share it for free (if it doesn't break any copyrights of DreamWorks). I think I'll start working on that in April. Maybe I'll remake the nighlights too.

First I drew a nightlight from front, side and top (roughly) and used that as a reference.
Modeled the head out of a subdivided cube, modeled the rest out of an another cube, trying to make them match the reference, merged them together
-I made an oval shape for head and later added details, eyeholes and mouth
-nighlights have big eyes so the traditional eyeball wouldn't work very well (the eyes would be either too small for the hole or bigger than the head could fit) so their eyes are just curved planes with a simple texture made in Gimp using a mouse. They are rigged using uv warp modifier.
-made some shape that was good enough for the body and extruded legs and tail
-shaped the legs and added necessary loops so it looked ok when deforming, extruded claws
-extruded something long and thin for the wings, divided it in 3 parts, made the wing membrane
-used a separate mesh to make the spikes
-bound the body and spikes with mesh deform modifier (it covers only torso and not the legs nor wings, they are deformed directly by the armature)
Texturing
-I wrapped them with an image texture and in 3D view pained the areas where color changes for each dragon individually
-the graddient on the spikes and scales on the head are made procedurally, using nodes but it would be more efficient with simple image texture
built an armature
weight painting by trial and error (torso has 0 value and the mesh deformer object has the weights that it would normally have)
adding shapekeys where necessary (I rather avoid this as much as possible, but they are good for fixing bad deforming)
making IK constrains for legs, making a ton of constrains for the wings (and they still glitch of course)

So what about night light models? Are you ever planning to share them? Just i am 3d animator too, and sometimes do HTTYD content. I remember that they have difficult rig, but visually they look really quality!
No, I wasn't planning to share them but if you really want to, here is the link. You (and everyone who sees this) can use them if you manage. When you open the file, textures may be missing so just reopen them in the blend file.
