AZ is a perfect place for verga.. also those huge 'Haboob' dust clouds... It would probably look like that scene in The Mummy if a Quicksilver got caught in one of those!
I was waiting to jump out of a perfectly good airplane. Weather was in the area. Couple of folks were packing their chutes from a previous jump in the hangar. We had a small virga incident. Some folks almost went for a ride out the other end of the hangar when a small downdraft hit. 😂
@@CourtneyTakesFlight nothing major they just got tugged around for 10-15 feet. They grabbed the lines on one side of their chutes and then it was just like holding a corner of a sheet flapping in the wind. 2 people had their chutes stretched out making sure there were no tangles in their lines. The wind caught the chutes and inflated them. They jumped on their containers and were dragged a few feet before they were able to grab one set of lines and get control. It was kinda funny. I’ve seen military drops go wrong in the same fashion! I really enjoy our videos. Keep them coming! And thanks for all that you do for the aviation community! It is appreciated! 👍😃
Anyone ever get caught by a "surprise" downdraft?
Yes and its ruddy scary.
Thanks Court! I learn something new every time I watch your videos. Probably a good thing I have not built my plane yet. :)
When you do, have fun!

I've seen some down there myself. Much of the footage you see was shot in Nevada.
That's amazing imagery of the virga! WOW!
Thank you.
Great information for me and my Powered Paragliding friends. Thanks for making this video.
You're welcome and good luck!
Took off from 3S4 the other afternoon in my LSA and always hate hearing the weather station say "Caution Wind Shear"
What class of airport was this?
Amazing video!!!
Thank you.

I’ve seen them before, I’m not a pilot tho.. well yet anyway.
And if you do fly someday, avoid them!
