  • So I have acquired 5D Chess with Multiverse Time Travel and it is amazingly extraordinary. In addition to these stellar qualities, the game is perplexing beyond description. 10/10, worth the frustration.
    In this video I play against the 5D chess champion, Kenpoviper, in an epic duel. But first I have to learn how to play. If you manage to understand anything in this video, good job. I'm proud of you.

    10:40 actually this is a softmate because the queen is actually captureable.
    there is still in theory a legal move (capturing the queen from another timeline) for that board but it doesnt exist yet. so its just softmate. (which actually happen in the game later so good for me)
    hardmate would be 2 pieces attacking either a king in the past or 2 different kings so that one king cant resolve both checks. making that board unresolveable.
    again at 15:08 just a softmate, the queen is technically still captureable by some other piece accross timelines.

      The cool thing is that bots have a hard time playing 5D chess because of the insane amount of possibilities. It limits their capacity to predict what will be the best move. This allows us humans, with enough learning, to become better than the current highest difficulty bot in 5D chess

    Okay honestly, the game isn't "confusing" so much as "overwhelming"
    The actual rules are pretty straightforward.
    It's just that you have to keep track of a ludicrous amount of information.
    So it's less about trying to understand how to play, and more about trying to keep tabs on every board at the same time.

  • @LosBROSPQR
    @LosBROSPQR Год назад

    10:48 this is actually not a hardmate, we call this a softmate. The difference is that in here there is the possibility to capture the queen from another timeline and get out from check. A hardmate is when there are 2 pieces delivering check from 1 board. The reason is because in a softmate you can technically still play for the recapture of the piece checking you. In a hardmate you can't take both pieces, it's either one or the other.
