This has a very cool alice in chains vibe that some songs on the new album also have. Very groovy n sabbathy compositions of Mr. Hetfield. Certainly not thrash but still I dig it!!
I hope MetallicA go back to that super cool heavy sound again. I don't have a problem with anything they do but I feel they were pressurised into doing a more thrash style on the last album.
No, the problem is Rick Rubin. He's notoriously against using reverb, something that can make guitars sound heavy as fuck. Look at Puppets. A "thrash" album. The guitars are heavy as shit on that album. And many of the songs are fast. They need to get a different producer next time around. They should just produce it themselves actually. They're studio experienced.

They are at their best when they're doing what the hell the want. As much as I like magnetic it really was just a "alright here you go then..." to the fans.
Load and ReLoad were both good albums I think Metallica choosing to cut the long hair Mad true Metallica fans really betrayed So both the Load and ReLoad albums did not Get a fair shake.
