Hiking Highland Park, IL Millard Park ( We Get Engaged )

- Hiking along the Lake today.
Millard Park and Beach has 1,000 feet of Lake Michigan shore and bluff. The upper park hosts a historic garden that overlooks the lake and beach area.
This park is designated a natural area. Millard Park was once part of the Schaffner estate with a home designed by Howard Van Doren Shaw in 1909. Henry Floriani originally designed the gardens. The Park District of Highland Park acquired the land in 1969 and the house was demolished in 1982.
We also check out the Sylvester Millard House is a historic log house in Highland Park, Illinois, United States. Built in 1893, the house was designed by William W. Boyington and remained in the family until the 1990s.

Lake Michigan is a beautiful lake. I visited all the great lakes years ago on a summer camping trip. I went all the way up to lake superior.
