You got some happy chicks.😊
Thanks!! We are trying!!😊
very interesting and your girls look happy thank you for sharing
Thanks for watching and commenting!! 😊
You are taking great care of your chickens!!! You need to go and cool off now. It was 117 here in Phoenix so I feel your pain
Ouch!! 117°!!! That’s way too hot!! Thanks so much for the comment!! 😊
thumbs up
Thanks Tom!👍
I did the same thing as you did when we had 100 degree temps in IL. I didn't have a soaker hose (great idea!) but had soaked the ground where they can walk in or flopped down into it. I had a privacy fence on south and west side of the run, it helps with shades, along with a pine tree in the corner. They didn't mind the box fan I had out there on their sawhorse perches.
Sounds like you had some happy chickens too!😊
Good morning guys and it's a easy way to keep them cool . It's like I'm in putting 1 lb bags of ice and side my koi holding tanks to help keep the water cool tanks.
Good morning!! Anything to keep them happy!!😊
@@HanbleceyaRanch so true
Been running floor drying fans in both chucken runs along with putting up shade cloth fabric and filling extra water bowls with ice, watermelon, strawberries, and water
We do everything we can to make them happy and cool!😊
I had a pomegranate plant at the end of the chicken run 25 feet from coop. I would water it in the morning and my girls would scratch a dip in the dirt and stay under it until it cooled off from the Cali heat. Planting elderberry bushes around there run will help a lot and good for you and the girls. Good luck
We have considered planting something around the outside of the coop to help with the shade! Thanks!😊
I slice watermelon and then freeze it. My girls love frozen watermelon they leave nothing but the rind!!! Also I have a large black shade cloth 70% that is 12x20 that covers their whole chicken yard. It keeps the area cool and the hawks can’t see them. You are spoiling your girls just like I do mine !!
I didn’t have watermelon but that’s a great idea!! The netting we put up helps with the predators around here! We do need to plant some things for shade for them!! We love spoiling them! We take care of them and they take care of us!!😊
An idea came to my mind watching this. Maybe get a big piece of canvas, if possible, and toss it over the bird house where you have the tarp. I know standing under plastic in the summer is hot, so the canvas should make better shade for them. Just an idea
We have some big plans for the coop next year!! Stay tuned!!😊
Brought a children’s splash pad for my ducks can’t keep the chickens out of it got them thier own best 15 dollars spent
Ours did not want to get into the water bins we had. They liked the soaker hose!😊
Try a mist fan
@@willrush1962 we will look into that!!😊
How were you able to find a place in Maine that can let you live off grid? With no septic. Is there a comprehensive Maine dos and donts?
There are offgrid “camps” scattered throughout the state of maine. Look north of Bangor. 😊
